@@raptorbandarchivehe's an excellent drummer for sure! Sam Wilkes is a BEAST on bass too! I don't always like the mixes, sometimes they seem to have the drums too loud. However I love the sound of the fast RnB fusion jazz kind of stuff. It reminds me of Dirty Loops, Snarky Puppy, Vulfpeck, Scary Pockets, those kinds of groups, which is great company to be in.
That's because live sound engineers always bury the vocal. They're too scared of feedback, and hate vocals because they're all amateur guitarists or drummers. Or something.
Knower sounds like what every Sega Genesis game soundtrack was TRYING to sound like.
This might explain why I love them so much. I like to think Louis and Genevieve heard Toe Jam and Earl and Sonic 2 and made a band
I wish I was young again. This is monstrous live playing. I've been a fan now since I 'discovered' them 7 months ago. As a musician of some years and seen everything and found everything too boring for words, seeing these guys play has been an inspiring revelation. I want to be young again. I'm 63 next birthday.

So it looks like Louis Cole as King of the West, and Michael League as King of the East...fireworks were inevitable when they met in the middle
It's funny how things work. I discovered new artists (Domi & JD Beck) and Thundercat through them. In paraller, I discovered Vulfpeck and through them I reached out to Louis Cole. I started to follow Louis Cole to then know Knower just to see that Dennis Hamm, Thundercat's keyboard player, is playing keyboard with Knower. Crazy.

Hard to even know what to say about this. So much energy and raw talent.
It makes me think of the 90s, complaining about the death of fusion/progressive jazz that showed so much promise in the 70s. But maybe I spoke too soon. With bands like Snarpy Puppy and Knower and Vulfpeck and Corey Wong and Louis Cole's solo work and so on, "contemporary, progressive jazz, fusion" is alive and well.
Yeah. Though I'm more a vintage prog rock guy, since the eighties the idea of virtuosity on your instrument has been downplayed for decades. These hard funky breakbeat influenced jazzers are reigniting the flame
Don't know about Vulpeck being fusion jazz, more like fusion funk for those cool cats
This band makes me think of early jamiroquai mixed with grimes
