I feel like somebody needs to emphasize this guy's INSANELY PRECISE TIMING. I've been playing drums for 7 years and I couldn't hit just straight 16th notes at this tempo with that kind of consistency, let alone the way he's slicing it up between hands and feet and even throwing in some freaking 32nd notes. I've hardly heard anything like it.
I think he is right handed, but playing the drum set as if left handed.

@@jamescruz8678 The Sabian B8 serie is the cheapest from Sabian. They may be good for the price but it's really super entry level and they are famous for having a really bad sound :S
And yet there are videos of drummers that fucking suck and are all like "spend more on cymbals! Spend! Spend! Spend!"
@@LaLogic2 for real... I'm of the opinion that any kit or cymbal only sounds as good as what the player puts into it - you don't have to spend hundreds to play the instrument well. Naturally I'm with Daniele Lewis on the point that Sabian B8s are cheaper/lower quality by cymbal standards, but obviously Louis Cole could probably make anything work. I mean, look at his keyboard set up. he uses a direct USB midi-controller into his computer lol.

More expensive equipment is OBVIOUSLY going to be better but there i am watching videos of the humble Sabian cymbal than i can afford and upgrade to (i literally had a horrible rusted brass disk as a cymbal before) and every video i watched of people playing it everyone was roasting the fuck out of it and i found it so unfair specially considering that it sounded good enough for me, lol people are jerks
i feel like the solo section is an epic battle to try and match eachothers energy and intensity and about 3:55 the energy of mr cole on the drums takes it to a level that the sax player has to sacrifice his soul to match... absolutely amazing musical moment

also the mat black sax cover used and model of sax is identical to those used in clown cores "hell" music video. Tempo is very similar as well along with the fact that these things you've mentioned are also personal flairs to a musician, Hard to deny at this point.

When you really think about it, this is just Jazz Fusion, because Jazz fusion is of course just the fusion of Jazz with modern tech, that's essentially where it rose from. (I know it's not that simple but that's how it emerged).

That ending though ! Holy shit ! That's what it looks like when 2 people are dominating their respective instruments. The skill to play a sax and the drums like this is incredible. I don't even think people realise this. Also it was tremendous, such high energy and passion and the nice dub of that house synth stab just gelling it together. I don't think I can ever stop watching this video. Words basically fail me when speaking of that ending. Has me just sitting back in awe each time, sucks me right into the music.

RIP this not being on spotify, this is seriously one of my favorite tracks right now. Not really sure how you'd classify this kind of music but I stopped caring about jazz in 6th grade and mostly have only been intimidated by the super brainy chord progressions until these guys came along with the 2018 clown core, and now I'm losing my mind about it. As soon as I heard him the first time I loved him. Fantastic chops on drums, keys and bass, sings, and he just has SO MUCH FUN!! And Ilikewafflz is right - he's always perfectly locked in to the beat.I'm also a huge fan of his partner Genevieve Artadi - such a wonderful voice with great command and creativity.
I came across Louis Cole via a video for Kerbal Space Program 2, and I am so glad I did. He and his cohort's musicality is a breath of fresh air for me. Lately I've been getting into much older music, and not much current. This is a refreshing break from what I guess I was escaping in 2020, it's virtuosity but not intolerably wanky. There's a great sense of humor and attention to detail.

I think that both solos are great, and i think the drum solo sound better that doesnt mean that the sax solo was bad, it was just my opinion :), im not saying that is easy to play nether of those instruments
