Here's the original: • overtime (audio) - KNOWER
This take was recorded live in some guys house in LA july 2017. Searing hot. Louis Cole - Drums, Genevieve Artadi - singing
with...
Rai Thistlethwayte - keyboard, Sam Wilkes - bass, Sam Gendel - saxophone
Thank you also Daniel Sunshine and Andrea Silva Видеоклипы
The bassist looks like all 4 members of Vulfpeck
Oh man. It's so true.
hahahahahahahahahahahaha genius
Jesus Christ you nailed it
You just made me make my first RUclips comment. But damn are you right.
So weird... I thought the same thing.
The Sax guy and the Drummer sure are used to playing in such a tight space.
I bet they can fit a band in an outhouse.
Exactly. Glad someone elsee figured it out.
I came here to confirm this lolol, these guys are pure natural talent.
Clowncore????
they might even play inside a mini van.
@@catzor4795 Yup. this band is 40% Clowncore
I recognized that sax instantly and I was overcome with the feeling of being locked in an outhouse.
And then have to stand next to a guy with his dick on the piano…
Explain what you meant by this, I am intrigued
cl0wncore is comprised of louis cole and sax! they have an album of them playing in a portapotty
@@NathanKwon818 clownc0re was my introduction to these guys.
What a shitty statement....or are you asking for t.p.
I love how Clown Core has led me down a worm hole to such amazing music
I somehow made my way here from Spice Girls lol.
XD
I made my way here exactly by finding more about Clown Core as well xD
ok now i have seen clown core and you owe me several minutes of my life back
@@joshchaffin3267 Clown Core is great. It's not necessarily aesthetically pleasing, but I feel that's the point. It's an outlet of stupid fun and weird creativity from Louis and Sam (allegedly). Still showcases their musical ability very well.
This is my favorite track recorded in a non-euclidean space
Best physics related joke I have seen in a while!
Geometry you idiot @mcsoi
McSoi hahaha dumb idiot
Hahaha amazing!
lmao
I watched this over 200 times and I still can't figure out how this hallway is constructed.
I think it's a T shape, with the I door being the only open door in the video, and an additional door on top of the T to the right of the left most door on the end point, relative to the T shape
Edit: also that last door I mentioned is open
I think the sax+vocals were filmed/recorded afterwards in the same hallway. Not sure though.
They're edited tgt on top of each other
If u watch the "time traveler" vid from the same session, the ending reveals that ya, it is a t-shaped hallway. The bassist is facing the stretch of hallway w the sax player n genevieve with louis and the keyboard on either side of him
At 4:30 the camera pans around the hallway corner from Rai's keyboard to Sam on sax.
Sam Wilkes’s notes just slip right into the pocket, smooth as shit.
Sam is one of the people in Plato's Cave allegory, he's spent his entire life in the pocket, and is completely unaware of anything else.
@@nohbudinose I love this comment.
There is so much slippery shit in my pockets now
Drums and bass ARE the pocket, bro. Your comment suggests a complete lack of understanding of pocket and time feel.
Sam's back-of-the-beat feel combined with Louis' front-of-the-beat feel LITERALLY form the pocket to which every other musician in the recording is expected to follow. Sam -- along with Louis -- is DICTATING the pocket, not slipping right into it.
I just discovered this band yesterday and my entire world has shifted and changed.
Welcome to the relentlessly ferocious onslaught of beefy bass blasts and scrumptious pizzazz all encrusted in pistachios! What’s better than pistachios? More pistachios! Woooo!
same but today

That like at the start of the half time is absolute filth

@@TheDionysiaclive they go half time on the half time again.
Check out Buckethead by Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains, about 3 mins in. Claypool and Buckethead can both get a bit carried away with themselves (an extreme understatement) but the Bernie Worrell keyboard solo is fantastic.
Check out Rai's solo on the newest Knower video It's All Nothing Until it's Everything. Dude is insanely good.
I’m a 66 year old keyboard player who made his bones during the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report. Return to Forever etc. Era in New York. I was an active working musician mostly in Atlantic City / Philadelphia market. Worked. With a lot of heavyweights. I wanted to tell you this because whenever I hear remarkably innovative and harmonically sophisticated young musician, like you guys, it gives me hope for the future of music. When I first heard “What’s in your Heart” a few years ago, it stopped me dead in my tracks. It’s great to see musicians with chops who can display what they do but still serve the song and groove. Genevieve, your voice and phrasing have so much presence and rhythmic inventiveness. Louis your chords just kill me. . I hadn’t heard you with the full band before. Yikes!!! All I know is that you impressed this old Geezer and make me feel so good when I hear you’re music. I wish you great success.
thats a really endearing comment, this is why i read youtube comments.
You guys are truly the real deal. You guys, Snarky Puppy, Dirty Loop, Jacob Collier....Music is in good hands

Joe Dart. Check him out. Beastly. Sky Mall. A walk to remember. He's a true god
I love how they've slowly increased the number of performers in these live house recording seshes up to a small jazz orchestra.
You'd do well to see their latest single. Now there's a whole brass and string section.
@@TAGMedia7 and the driveway choir!!
Sam Wilkes has the bass face of all time.
It makes me chuckle but on the other hand I totally get it, if I was making a sound that funky I’d be boppin’ all over the place too.

you guys are so criminally underrated
They have mad rep among musicians in just about every city though. Literally every dope musician in Seattle was in the audience when they came through.
hopefully not for long with videos like this
They're not really underrated, most people who know about them think they're the dog's bollocks. They're just underexposed. I suspect that will change, though.
I wouldn't describe that bikini top as underexposed. Sorry........
This songs been stuck in my head! Going on day three....
This song is so good that people are still discovering and coming back to it 5 years later. Bravo, KNOWER!
My father who recently passed was a lifelong musician playing classical and jazz guitar. His favorite musician at the time of his passing was Louis Cole and absolutely loved this song. Thank you guys I feel closer to my dad now listening to your music.
I'm sorry for your loss
My dad also recently passed and loved jazz and blues. I sent him this before he passed and he loved it. My condolences for your loss and long live music 🙏🏾🖤

Its common for funk n jaaa called taking it for walk haha anchorman
In the last week since I first heard Clown Core, I think Louis Cole has become one of my favorite musicians ever. Everyone involved here is so mind-blowingly good at what they do, and I CANNOT get these songs out of my head, not that I want to. On top of the overwhelmingly impressive musicianship, Genevieve has such an infectious voice and presence. Everything about this music is perfect and I will be annoying about it and tell everyone I know.
Um clowncore and louis cole have nothing to do with each other
@@MaydupNem I know, but everyone always says that in the comments, so I was led to Louis Cole through Clown Core, and I now I love both, separate artists.

I think it's rare for you on your RUclips feed lol
I listen mostly to rock, hip hop and electronic music. Love the tracks but for the most part the level of skill with instruments or live performance leaves something to be desired. One thing that sets KNOWER apart is the chops of everyone involved.

Yes! younger generation making real music with real chops! As a music producer and recording engineer, it gives me hope!
Totally agree. Rai and Louis only being in their early 40s, I can't wait to see what they come up with during their late 50s and 60s.
seriously so good. please let's have more of this, we need more of this
I love that the bass player (Sam Wilkes) kind of looks like the captain of the high school math team, but he straps and a bass and turns into bass clef superman.
His little fill at 4.15 stopped the planet for about a minute while it picked its jaw up
I know I am older than their parents, but I love this band.
They're pretty old actually.
The keyboard player is almost 40!
Jeremy Clarkson they are still a lot younger than I am.
Ok but, I think their parents are your age if not older
Thank goodness there is no age restriction on music: if you like it, you like it.

I bought a high-end speaker to listen to this. I've been listening to it for a year on repeat. Just can't get enough.
I can't stop listening to this. Sam's bass fills with that octave pedal are just too goddamn funky.
Came here to say that I care about Genevieve's ooh's.
David Pronk i do to!
This is actually like 1000x better than the version they have on their Spotify page
Those little gasps Genevieve throws in, between razor sharp crystal clean notes...I love her
Her voice is heavenly and the instrumentalists are absolutely incredible.
Overtime is probably my favorite KNOWER song. The live versions are always so good.

x3
Agreed. So good
I thought this was a good blend between the live version and the studio version.
The 3 against 4 that makes the time cook so hard. This kind of rhythmic invention is so characteristic of Louie's writing. It's a drummer's writing.
Holy shit. Every single musician is a monster, but the nod in this round goes to Sam "Watch Me Fit This Entire Hallway in my Pocket" Wilkes.
I agree, but a bass player can only be good if the drummer is and Louis Cole is fantastic.
Bass and drums are in-fucking-sane here.
TrumpU Gradguate louis is fucking insane, playing left handed but right footed is so fucking hard, ive been trying to learn but fucking hell
Honestly what an absolute dream team this crew is.
A few days ago I found and fell in love with an unusual 2 piece band that also made visual art. I came out of that rabbit hole and landed right here! What an interesting couple of days. Im loving the entire journey, both where it started, and here, where I feel the rabbit really intended me to be.
I"m about 5 days behind, found the other visual art piece about 5 days ago and love it, and now here I am!

It's not perfect -- there is software which is designed to eliminate all of the inaccuracies.

Nunna Yuh bitness Reverb and compression aren't even unnatural additions.
Reverb happens from reflections and distance, compression is actually achieved by your ears when the SPI of a sound is too loud, the brain naturally attenuates the signals.
