    [Disclaimer] New game on the channel so likely new viewers! Welcome all! Just a quick note to say we are very much casual players that are flipping cards for narrative fun rather than hardcore tactical nonsense - this is very much a 'proof of concept' episode as I'm still learning to play and record the game. Things like lighting, card placement, names and wording will improve as we go on and get more used to things. If you have a rules query that you'd like to share please remember to word it politely below and let us know if this is the kind of content you'd like to see in the future! Enjoy!

    I don't play Malifaux, put on the video as background noise while doing housework as always enjoyed your Guild Ball stuff. 2 hours later, no housework done and Malifaux stuff sitting in an online basket waiting for payday. Keep up the great videos, love the fact you are all about the fun, more Malifaux would be great.

    Excellent batrep, great terrain. Very clear, and yet still conversational. One thing that I noticed, for future reference, a model on a 30mm base can't block line of sight to a 30mm marker by standing on it, so the Poltergeist can still use Telekinesis on a marker that the Midnight Stalker is standing on.

    Really happy to find this battle report. Those are two of the 4 lists I was looking at building to get into the game. I dont know how much was the terrible flips Parker's crew had, but Bandits seem a little on the weak side...

  • @bedwyr84
    @bedwyr84 4 года назад +2

    Great work! Keep them coming!
    Rules quibble; at 1:27:16 the Emmisary being size 3 ignores the size 2 Pandora inbetween. Candy's height isn't relevant unless she's hiding in the SHADOW behind an equal or higher piece of TERRAIN than candy.
    Actually I think you missed several concealing traits from the fences (which aren't typically concealing but you called them as such later and looking at them probably fair enough) and especially that Forrest. Concealing terrain only requires ONE potential sight line to be drawn through it to provide concealment (this is why it's usually applied to fog and woods representative of overhanging foliage or swirls of mist extending beyond the base of the terrain piece) it's a very important rule for ranged attack actions that DON'T have a gun because it still effects them unlike cover.

    • @tabletopandgaming
      @tabletopandgaming  4 года назад

      Forgive me, I've read this second point a couple of times and it's just not clicking in my head. Could you point to a part of the batrep and where we went wrong/the correct course of action?

    • @bedwyr84
      @bedwyr84 4 года назад

      @@tabletopandgaming no worries. Any non-melee attack actions that draw line of sight through terrain with the concealing trait great the target concealment. This can only be ignored when shooting out of the terrain through an inch or less of it.
      At 1:43:30 for example Carver would benefit from it putting the prospector at a negative flip to hit necessitating the outcast focus to put him on a straight flip.
      I think this was my 2nd point.
      Thanks again for the replay. You've done an excellent job.

    Well this is the best bat rep I’ve seen so far for Malifaux. Please, do more Malufaux, this game desperately needs some love. I noticed some errors during your game,, for ex. You can’t create Scheme Markers overlapping a miniatures base, or under it.
    Beside that, this is some quality content,can’t wait for more!

    • @harandil
      @harandil 4 года назад +1

      Of course you can drop (not create) a scheme marker under a base.
      But in my opinion in round four when Carver try to Glimpse of Insanity on Mad Dog there should be minus flip from concealment. So Carver should not be able to cheat this flip.

    • @bedwyr84
      @bedwyr84 4 года назад

      @@harandil agree on both counts. M3e allows markers "dropped" under the model that dropped them. There's a specific rule that a 30mm base can't block LOS to a 30mm maker however.

    I'm just getting into this game, but a few observations: 1. The Parker crew didn't have enough damage dealers to pressure Pandora and took too many support characters that didn't really do much. This allowed the Pandora player to bleed out the Parker crews cards, dish out stuns, cause gradual damage from misery, and in general just dominate the board. 2. Terror is pretty cheesy. It provides a passive and significant chance that anything aiming at that target simply won't be able to attack the target. That's insanely good, unless models with that ability come at a huge SS premium.

    • @tabletopandgaming
      @tabletopandgaming  4 года назад +1

      Hi and thanks for your input. I wouldn't read that much into the game, we're playing very casually and are deliberately not picking/counterpicking with our lists and instead just showing off the keyword so there's bound to be mismatches, if you're looking for more competitive-level content then I wouldn't recommend us for that.
      Also, take care calling an ability 'cheesy', it's unnecessarily negative. If the ability was that bad then you wouldn't have whole factions (Ressurectionists) or Masters (Jack Daw) built around the concept. Most factions can access the ruthless ability when hiring, or can make use of abilities that ignore terrifying (pulses and shockwaves).
      Welcome to the game, take it easy friend.

    • @MetaVita
      @MetaVita 4 года назад

      @@tabletopandgaming thanks! I wasn't trying to be negative, just making some comments based on the very well done battle report ;) Terrifying still seems extremely strong as it adds a whole other layer of defense unless I guess you deliberately structure your list around it?

    • @marklong4317
      @marklong4317 4 года назад

      @brialist That’s an inherent factor of many of the Neverborn figures, they’re nasty and terrifying! My last game with my wife was a three-all draw with my Dreamer crew (with about half of them with terrifying) versus her Misaki crew with only Ototo having Ruthless. Her card flips were generally phenomenal so I still suffered damage and had to use many Soulstones keeping my Henchmen alive, reducing my offensive use of them, so it’s all in the drawing of the cards! In a previous game her flips were dire and her crew spent most of its time shaking with fear! The game is a complicated system and making the odd mistake here and there is inevitable apart from the many tournament-level players who remember everything, so it’s just about enjoyment. In many games I still forget to apply the Terrifying occasionally but as it’s my responsibility to apply it then I just accept the error and don’t try and back-track the flips! Accept it , get on with it, and try to remember, 😀, hopefully you don’t lose due to your errors! Enjoyable batreps!

    It was fun watching first, but man do you play the "push towards" rule false, and it skews the gameplay massivly! Towards means straigt line towards the center of the target, and you stop as soon as you reach, no running/flipping past the target to get additional movement and slingshot your models ... and a push can never move through a model ...

    • @tabletopandgaming
      @tabletopandgaming  4 года назад +3

      This isn't very constructive.
      Helpful feedback would be utilising specific examples and naming. As a new player I have no idea which player/models/abilities you are referring to.

    • @archangle2988
      @archangle2988 4 года назад +1

      @@tabletopandgaming I am confused, how this is "not constructive" i named the rule in question and what was done wrong. The rule can be found in the rulebook on page 15, and if you need examples from your play: 1_08:30 sue uses "walk the line" to push towards the sheme marker and then pushes another 5 inches in the countryside? Or 50:50 Kade uses wheres my teddy. You write its not a legit move because models cant push through other models and we should consider it to have moved around and through terrain. Thats a huge NO. Teddy should have moved towards the center of Kade and then stopped as soon as he reaches Kade. There is NO moving around and slingshotting teddy with this rule, under no circumstance ... and even inf, terrain stops pushes so another no ... i mean i could go on, this is a basic rule, used by MANY models in your crews, and you seem to misplay it every time it comes up ...

    • @tabletopandgaming
      @tabletopandgaming  4 года назад +2

      @@archangle2988 I'm sorry for your confusion, your initial post offered no specific guidance as to the players, characters or interactions that violated the rule in question, making it incredibly vague.
      Now that you have posted examples, as you can see I (Tom) pointed out the rules issue with Teddy, though luckily my opponent was fine with it (as you can hear on camera). Likewise, with Sue, I was more than happy for the interaction to go the way it did.
      Neither player felt that it infringed on the game. While it's definitely something we will hope to work on for the future, if its something that hurts your enjoyment I wouldn't recommend us for your viewing.

    • @ThemeParkBaby
      @ThemeParkBaby 4 года назад

      Archangle fair enough, it was a miss interpretation of a rule on my part with Sue..... as you probably well know it’s easily done in Malifaux.
