I’ve come to this point of leaving London many times before, even with a more than sufficient salary I always kept on feeling this sort of existential dread creeping up and I got super anxious just waiting for the next crisis to happen (like Covid, cost of living prices exploding, whatever there’s always something). Went to live in the Middle East for a bit and then came back to the uk and decided to go to Cambridge for a change and that actually made a gigantic difference for me personally. I feel just not having the constant rush, pressure, social competition wherever you go, is just such a relief. Anyway, hope you feel better soon and find what works for you. Love following your journey
Few thoughts for you Matt... - You cannot enjoy the highs without the lows! There has to be Yin and Yang! - I know you like training and I feel business can be just as confusing! One minute you want to be bigger, the next minute you want to be leaner. If you try to doing both you fail. Like training you have to have a set goal for a period of time to do well! Then pivot/change. - Agree with others on here check your vit D levels. Get blood work. The more outdoors you are (runner), the more you suffer when you lose that natural vit D in winter months as you started with higher levels to begin with! Keep up the great content matey
I felt this. Was basically depressed all through winter of last year to back end of Feb. Finally bought a one way ticket out of London and feel so much better. You just need a trip away and some sun bro. Even if it’s just a weekend
Totally relate to dictating my mood from yesterdays sales with my DTC brands 😂 also struggle with motivation for new launches when sales are slow. Learning from it though, pushing through occasionally slow times. Our USA side of the business is always stable though. Market matters a lot
Honestly it's just winter in London imo. Love London more than anything but I struggle so much from November to April. Remote worked from Buenos Aires (only -3 GMT) this year for Jan and Feb and it was the best decision. Like you said, you do your best work work when you're in the right place mentally and it's hard to be in the right place when it's cold, rainy, and grey everyday...
Purdy and Figg is focusing only on 1 channel, 1 market and they are crushing it...But I agree, that Spacegoods might need to expand to EU, which will be a huge pain in the ass with the local regulations, translating labels, websites, ads, payment methods, etc...
Jack is a better founder than me and a great brand also, but different product and diff market, can’t really compare but I understand the point - already in the EU as of recently, not as bad as I thought
@@themidnightpodcant wait to see you crush it in EU! love the transparency and honesty...showing the ups n downs, the doubts, hardships and everything.
Sounds like you need a trip away! Hop on a flight, try a week with some work and see if you feel better / working better. If so, stay, if not, try somewhere else/head back.
Yeah, get out of london! Lived there 5 years, moving to Hong Kong was a game changer. Great weather, strong expat community, proximity to Asia and tax advantage.

You’re right man. Think March has been a tough month for a lot of brands in the Supp space. Stay focused brah

If your not already, try taking Vitamin D3 + K2 supplements throughout the winter, helps massively especially mentally 👍🏼

UK is dreadful. Definitely not you. Also, that office appears to have no natural light. Reading suggestion: Untethered Souls.
