I was one of the tech reps for this squadron, it's predicessor and sister squadron. I was the avionics rep for HCS 4 from 1990 to 1999 then HCS 5 from 1999 to 2004. I became the airframe rep for HSC 84 in 2006 until 2012. I'm proud to have been associated with both of these great squadrons for most of my career. Love to hear from anyone from those squadrons.
It is sad we shut down but it was a necessity. We were never able to recover from the "half shutdown" that happened years ago. I was angry and resentful when I first heard we were being shutdown but I now understand, with the next level fight that's coming, that $ at least for the short term needs to go to solving that fight...HSC-85, likes it's namesake the Firehawk, will be born again from the ashes.
@@WorldsOkayestFisherman I think you're right. It sounds like what the Navy does with the anti mine warfare capability. They let it wind down during peace time. When a war breaks out , the first thing that happens is harbors get mined. Then they have to quickly build back that capability.
