I'm glad to see the old SH-60 Silorsky's are still flying and working hard for the U.S. Navy in 2024. We were flying these same aircraft when I was in the Navy in the early 1990's. I remember when my squadron started transitioning over from the very old Sikorsky SH-3's to new SH-60's, and after 32 plus years they're still in service.

It is simply incorrect to refer to the Houthis as pirates in this instance, and actually their motives are everything. Pirates have always been a concern off the African coast, but immediately before the October 7 attack, travelling the Suez Canal route had been relatively safe. The H-60S KNIGHTHAWK helicopter is the variant seen in the segment. The key ID feature is the H-60 tail wheel. The MH-60B SEAHAWK and MH-60R OCEANHAWK have a tail wheel set further forward which allows the tail boom to fold.
I think you are confused on where the tail rotor pylon fold line is located on the fuselage. Its the exact same place on every single one built, regardless of tail wheel location. Specifically, its at fuselage station 646, or in a general sense, about 6 inches ahead of where the fuselage bends upwards on the tail pylon. The tail wheel, in no way, has any relevance to the tail pylon folding.
The SH-60B LAMPS Mk III had its designation changed to MH-60B to identify that it had the ALQ-142 ESM suite and LAMPS data link installed and its weapon suite upgraded to the MH-60R capability. Helped draft the specifications on the upgraded birds. You can tell the R from the B by the removal of the ALQ-142 antennae. The original CH-60S was designed for use on platforms with greater volume hangars and larger landing areas. The navalized H-60 airframes had to fit in CG-47, DDG-51 Flight IIA and Flight III, DD-963, and FFG-7 hangars.
@davidmurphy8190 while you seem very knowledgeable about the helicopters. I believe the terminology was a sh60b block whatever. It never changed to MH. Mh is the designation for glass cockpit 60's which there was never a glass cockpit sh60b. I believe your thinking about the SH60F which had the upgraded avionics from the Bravo. I'm a rated 60S crewman and fly with 60R pilots and crewman as well.
Then you probably should know they're Knighthawks, not Night hawks, as they came after the CH-46 Sea Knight. But the MH-60S's DOD designation is officially Seahawk.

A hypothetical question to ask is what happens if the Houthis manage to block the Gulf of Aden, for example with enough strategically anchored shipwrecks? This method has already been used to block straits and harbor entrances, sometimes even successfully.
I don't know what your point is. The area is not small and they would need to impose upon the EEZ of other countries in Africa to successfully block the strait. Also, you assume they even have large vessels in their possession of the quantity needed for such an operation, which they do not. The Houthi has always been a small time terrorist group with ambitions larger than their ego.
Some tack on questions to ask: how many average container ships would it take to block the narrowest point of the gulf? Do the Houthis have any means to maneuver full sized wrecks into place? Do they have an adequate inventory of full sized wrecks? What is the depth at the narrowest point, and hence, how many ships would you need to stack on top of each other? This is really just an absurd hypothetical question.
1)The Gulf of Aden is very large and not shallow enough to be able to be blocked. 2) it is the Bab Al-Mandab Strait you may be reffering to? That's the choke point between Djibuoti and the Yemeni island of Mayyun, just 11 miles from Djibouti. 3) International law states that all countries have the right to a 12 mile limit to territorial waters. That means Djibouti and Yemen share an overlap that crosses the entire strait. 4) When that occurs, the countries are required to share right of way. 5) Depth at the center is about 300 meters, making a blockage impossible using wrecks. I suspect that the longer this goes on , the more likely Iran will mine the navigation channel, which is only about 7 miles wide. A single weak 50lb mine, planted by a small boat, will send economic shockwaves around the world.

Back in 2000 with the introduction of the MH-60S. That model is a mash-up of the land-based H-60 fuselage with the large sliding doors on both sides of the cabin, but with the powertrain/ folding bits of the SH-60 versions.
You do not know the Houthis. They are not afraid of anyone, they have a religious belief, and they do not hesitate to attack American aircraft carriers or bases.
If they keep up with their apparent indiscriminate attacks, the Houthis will enter the 'find out' phase of "FAFO". They are going to learn that the USA is not going to be the ineffective foe that Saudi Arabia has been.
Because this literally just happened, they haven’t even confirmed the helicopter squadron that was involved. Much less declassified video footage of the incident
Couple Reasons. It's perfectly possible the boats spread out first thing and the one that got away was just lucky. Might have been fuel issue, helicopters can only stay in the air so long. Also perfectly possible it was a Ammo issue. They might have legit also let the 4th boat go. They basically told them all to fuck off and attacked only when the boats opened fire. 4th boat might have just decided not to fire and fucked off.

The official name is not knighthawk.
These birds also brought relief efforts in disaster areas.
Q
Happy New Year 2024
Q ❤
Those are not “Seahawks” those are MH-60S “Night hawks” I maintained them for 9 years.
Thanks for the information
Then you probably should know they're Knighthawks, not Night hawks, as they came after the CH-46 Sea Knight. But the MH-60S's DOD designation is officially Seahawk.
Yemen is one of those places that empires go to lose wars.
Yes right
I don't see the big deal with this, did those boats have any chance to fed off helicopters?
Happy new year to everyone. I woule love to se som videos about the sea hawk and its different sub variants like and what differentiates them from each other
I must have blinked, because I didn't see any Houthe boats. Seemed just a load of click bait.
We flew on HH-60 Pavehawk with the 304th RQS.
Great very helpful in combat operation
I have a HSC - 23 patch & bullet aviation poker chip, it was a gift
Well my comment disappeared after this posted.
Nothing new. RUclips has been c3ns0r1ng (can't even spell it out because that phrase will make a comment disappear) just about everything. Anything negative words the left will get your comments deleted. Anything negative against a minority or any POC, delete. Trust me, I'm a POC and I'm sick of this commie style dictatorship.
Do not feel bad Twitter banned me because I criticized the Russian war in Ukraine and the attack on Israel by Hamas terriost. It makes you wonder who are the employees working for Twitter.
Is there actual footage of this happening ?
Yes.
Unfortunately who lead to this situation. It is Israel and USA who have supported the coming of the Mullahs to 🇮🇷 Iran
The Bigger you arr The Harder You Fall...Right....
The title of the video suggests that you will see something about the Houthi boats being attacked by the helicopter, but instead you will see a general video about the helicopter. So a waste of my time!
plot twist, that was the U.S live training lol!
Since when the US Owns the red Sea
Why did they allow the fourth boat to leave?
Because the CO said he'd tear them a new one if they launched another $150,000 hellfire to sink a $1000 fishing boat.
Welcome new year 2024.. way to go! !! GOOD luck be SAFE y'all! ! ♥
It is long last time that the gloves come off. I am tired of America being challenged by every two bit regional power. Someone green light operation “PREYING MANTIS” 2.0.
Yeah man when you start covering weapon systems on the on going “Wars” I believe will get you way more exposure especially if you were releasing videos every few days or once a week but I digress that’s still a lot of work, I’d watch em tho 👍🏽🇺🇸
Thank you - I’ll do the best I can, thanks for commenting 👍 🇺🇸
But maybe take a minute to learn how to pronounce things. "Haangzow"?! You sound like you got hit on the head. It's a famous Chinese city, for Christ's sake. @@PilotPhotog
That is a Mediterranian Shipping Co. ship, not Maersk.
Feel like Captain Phillips part 2 is on its way.
So 40 million dollars worth of Naval hardware to stop 4 kayaks worth a total of $2500 😑
A hypothetical question to ask is what happens if the Houthis manage to block the Gulf of Aden, for example with enough strategically anchored shipwrecks?
I don’t think they have the equipment or manpower to pull off such a blockade. It’s not like the US Navy doesn’t know where they are.
@@shionuzuki5549 Same as iran.
iran is the goat/camel that thinks its a lion
When did the Seahawks tail wheel get moved so far back? Doesn't that make the tail-boom swinging section shorter?
Back in 2000 with the introduction of the MH-60S. That model is a mash-up of the land-based H-60 fuselage with the large sliding doors on both sides of the cabin, but with the powertrain/ folding bits of the SH-60 versions.
This is how us tax payers are entertained
Probably the Houthi thought the helicopters were unarmed 😅
No......the Houthis are not like the Israeli Diaper Force
Something tells this isn't over and Yemen will continue its actions in the Red Sea
As soon as you start using terms like "likely" and "probably" then I start thinking "maybe" and "possibly"...
👍
Ah, got it. they are stupid
To quote homer Simpson....USA USA USA.
Hello Bro j20 jet fighter explain
Like to hear fine details on the armor it carries.
How then, where is the video
Does this mean, USN helicopters 3, USN jets Zero?
No confirmation of this and definitely not from the Houthis
Please be advised, there is no actual footage of the incident !!
Because this literally just happened, they haven’t even confirmed the helicopter squadron that was involved. Much less declassified video footage of the incident
@eggnugget575 The headline implies different which means false captions to attract viewers, you do get that?
First 14 Drones And Than 3 boats straight
What they expect more than to stop provoking us
Awesome video, Happy 2024 chaps.
One boat got away? How is that possible?
Couple Reasons.
It's perfectly possible the boats spread out first thing and the one that got away was just lucky.
Might have been fuel issue, helicopters can only stay in the air so long.
Also perfectly possible it was a Ammo issue.
They might have legit also let the 4th boat go.
They basically told them all to fuck off and attacked only when the boats opened fire.
4th boat might have just decided not to fire and fucked off.
If you says so.....😂😂😂
Where there's a war there's america, and when they got killed they blame it as a terrorist, who ask I to joint anyway 😅
America, saving the worlds ass on a daily basis.

Perhaps someone who hasn’t served in the Military thinks it’s cool to tell so much information about US Military capabilities.
Then the Carrier fleet quickly retreated.
No decisive strikes shown, carrots
Why did they let away the 4th ship??
Exactly
If the Houthis are crushed, how are they still firing missles???
