Question? How can we score 35pts in the first half and only 7pts in the second half? Dominance is an 80-minute performance. Where you totally obliterate their confidence and their will to compete, that wasn't a dominant performance, it turned into an exhibition game in the end. It would have been dominant if they consistently put points on the scoreboard in the second half.

My initial reaction was subdued but on reflection, it might be a good thing in the long run. The game was won so bring on the Bench to give them some experience. They didn't perform as we would have all liked & put another 35 points on Arg but they didn't lose the half either. It is mins (& 'learnings') in the bank for those Bench Players which could prove valuable further down the track. The 'walk' together to RWC27 has only just started. We have to have a bit of perspective, understanding, appreciation etc of the journey that has just begun with a new group etc.

Well done ABs. However, this lot are dreaming if they think that 45-50 minute display will vanquish the Springboks. The final 30 minutes was woeful. The collective purpose and accuracy in the forwards was gone...the precision and focus in the backline no longer evident. Is that going to worry the bomb squad? Not at all. So get real JK and SW. JK who is still harping on about Reiko when he did nothing to create space for his wingers and is still not, and never will be, an international center.
So lets talk about the first 45 minutes. The forwards played with much more cohesion and collective purpose than in Wellington. As a result, they were sharper, more aggressive, and their precision and accuracy was superb. Tamaiti Williams and Lomax were beasts in the tight and scrums. For a huge man, it's freakish the way Williams is able to get about the park to make tackles -- almost like a loosie. Taylor was solid and may...finally...be playing himself into form. I thought Vai'i make a huge leap in this game. You could see on his face that he had finally taken ownership of his role and showed real leadership at lineout and at the breakdown. I have said it before, that he has the athleticism and size to be a real disruptor like Maro Etoji...and on Saturday, I was struck at how much he played like Etoji at his best. He was a menace for Argentina's lineout and was celebrating their mistakes and the AB's big plays...just like Etoji does for England and Saracens. And he had no mental or physical lapses because he was so possessed with dominating his opposition. Long may that last. It will have to against the Boks. Darry had another good all-round game but will need to find some mongrel against the big Springbok locks. Blackadder finally found some consistency in his work and complemented Ardie...who had a big game. Papali'i went about his work...especially at the breakdown...but his all-round performance is still nowhere near what we expect from an AB 7. On current form, he will be dominated by PSD. That is why I would still move Ardie to 7 or and play Sititi at 8 against the Boks. I would also start a bigger body at 6 like Vai'i -- with Tuipolotu out we will need Scooter in the locks -- and move Blackadder to the bench. I think Vai'i could be a perfect 6 against the Boks...and offer a tall 3rd lineout option/jumper. My forwards against the Boks (with DeGroot, Tuipolotu and Jacobson not available through injury) would be 1 Williams, 2 Taylor, 3 Lomax, 4 Barrett, 5 Darry, 6 Vai'i, 7 Savea, 8 Sititi -- replacements: Tosi, Aumua, Newell, Lord, Blackadder, Cane in a 6:2 split. Train them as an opposing pack and bring them on together. As for the backs, they had a much easier ride thanks to the go-forward generated by the forwards. Perenara was much sharper and accurate from the base. He distributed the ball to his game managers and put them on the front foot instead of box kicking endless uncontestables. I'd start him against the Boks because he knows what its like to play them...and play in Johannesburg...which is not a place where you want to start a rookie scrumhalf like Ratima. DMac managed the game more astutely, was more direct, and distributed the ball before the Argentine defenders could get among his centers. I am not convinced he will be able to do this against a more aggressive Springbok pack and rush defense. The likes of PSD and Kwagga Smith will have him dialed in for special treatment. If Tuipolotu was fit and we could play a 5:3 split off the bench I would move DMac to the bench for this game and start Barrett at first-five and Jordan at fullback...but with Tuipolotu out we need to go 6:2 and start DMac. He will need to be patient against the Boks and continue his direct play, allow the time for Jordie and Beauden to create and exploit/create space our outside backs. By being more direct against Argentina, DMac allowed space for Jordie to kick tactically and Beauden to kick for field position. Jordie's concentration and accuracy did appear to wander somewhat in the final 20 minutes (not what you want from your VC) and he missed a kick for the corner that would have put his forwards in great position to maul for a try late in the game. He can't have mental lapses like that against the Boks. Still, he played a decent game and was able to get over the gain line and put others into space. Rieko didn't do anything spectacular but didn't screw up either...he is still not a center who naturally sees and makes space for others...it's time to start Proctor who is a complete center...able to play like a center on both sides of the ball. Clark and Jordan played well though Jordan had some wobbly moments in the final 30. Barrett settled things from the back, kicked well, and injected himself astutely...his vision and ability to communicate what he is seeing to those beside and in front of him is invaluable. My backs for the Boks would be: 9 Perenara, 10 Barrett, 11 Clark, 12 Jordie, 13 Proctor, 14 Reece, 15 Jordan -- replacements Ratima, DMac, ALB. I prefer Reece to Talea because he holds width, is better under a high ball (the Boks could pepper us with high balls), a strong tackler, and better at getting over the ball (turnovers). I would also use him at scrum half for a scrum (with a worked move or two off the back) and have him throw to one or two lineouts between the 40s to free up a big body in mid-field or work a short side move. The other big improvement was clearly with the coaches...they simplified the game plan and got a huge improvement in player commitment...especially the edge, controlled aggression and touch of mongrel shown by the forwards.

Reece? You have to be kidding. Why would you change Jordan when he played so well, and move Barrett while he's playing so well, to different positions. Backline needs to stay as is. Can't put a new 10 for such a big game anyway. Sititi is not an option for the run in side. Forwards the same except Cane at 7 and Papali'i on the bench Barrett at 6 and Blackadder on the bench. As you say 6/2 split. Ratima and ALB on the bench, Pity we don't have a better backup lock.

The biggest problem we have is with the facts and those have to be included in the conversation. The rest of the world has caught up with us and we have not responded very well with that fact, ever since the once in a generation 2015 World Cup squad departed. We have been attempting to regain that dominance, while forging a new style and strategy and it hasn't worked since 2015, meanwhile most of the top eight in the world has caught up to us. Well done first half, second half I have major concerns.

Start B. Barrett at 10, Jordan out baxk, Telea and Clark on the wings, Finau to 6, S Barrett into the second row; Blackadder, Reece, McKenzie to the bench for second half injection. No hope to match the Boks going toe-to-toe, thats Braai and Castle to them; gotta run them around, kick it deep, play in their half, secure the breakdown and set-piece, keep the passing game crisp and close, and look for the holes left by the rushing line speed. If the ABs try to play wide, go edge to edge, punt high (a la Mo'unga) and hope to conjure miracles from broken play, they'll get stuffed. SA are far too settled, far too technical, and far too strong across the park for that to be a viable strategy.

What enables all other sides to topple an All Blacks' team is when NZ is not in form. That explains why NZ has a 77% success rate against all comers; otherwise, 100% would be the figure. Woe betide any AB's opponents if & when NZ can be totally consistent. What will be interesting is to see how NZ deals with a Springboks' team admittedly in form, its recent loss to Ireland notwithstanding. Good luck to all nations & may the best team prevail.

How were 3 "experts" watching a completely different game than the rest of us. Razor will have to be ruthless here but lets be honest...Firstly after last week I feel the weekend was only back to where we should be as a baseline. There were periods where the All Blacks conceded multiple penalties on the trot in our own goal line, even the ref had to chat to Ardie and the next one was is a card. No chance against South Africa. The second half was sloppy and we couldnt secure points. Ratama kicking in behind when we had forward momentum and possibly a try out wide. Jeff says "Ioane went out and delivered"......ummm nah sorry man Ioane's form is way off, accuracy is at an all time low. Dmack looked better but I fear without Beauden he is lost. Fletcher Newell looked average in the scrum. Going to South Africa could be defining for us or it could be a massive wake up call.

The AB's fell apart, with a 7 and 7 scoreline after that. What a load of codswallops from the panel, as the game is played over 80 minutes +. There was no ownership of what had actually happened after the 50 minute mark .Blinded one sided commentary from the pannellest. Springbox will be smiling all the way to the bank. The AB's bench/Impact/Bomb squad, whatever you call it these days did not have not have an impact, and gave them no direction of what was required to continue with there first half intensity.
