Hiya Daniel, I’ll have to make a video in itself to show you the best equipment etc to use (for me anyway). I would say a bead breaker (deffo), never try and refurb a wheel with the tyre bead in place. Decent paint guns are a must (I use devilbiss Sri pro (they last forever). I’ll try and get a vid up for you asafp. Good luck.
9/10 times a wheel has already been refurbed at least once, meaning there’s over spray in the barrel of the wheel. If not it will at least have years of brake dust embedded and have a rough surface even after cleaning. I clean the whole wheel with non acidic wheel cleaner and grey scotchbrite first. If you are that determined to keep over spray out, a line of maskin tape and paper within the barrel does the job ✋.
