had that happened to me, my first thought would be “another blood clot”. My only treatment was getting on Eliquis. you are so lucky. usually the first symptom of a blood clot is swelling in the calf muscle, at least for me. Good luck with your treatment
I am sorry to learn of your injury. Your first hand experience with this injury will help make you an even better doctor. Over ten tears ago I suffered a partial calf tear while stepping off of a chair after changing our wall calendar. I was on crutches for about six weeks and was unable to partake in my favorite activity distance running. I compensated by walking with my crutches and lifting dumbbell weights. The worse part about the injury was the stomach pain I had from taking aspirin. The doctor told me to take an aspirin each day to prevent clotting. The stomach pain was awful. I wish you good luck.
Injuries do suck. I’m just coming out of the back end of one. Hope you have a good recovery, and I look forward to your posts. Easily one of my favourite yt channels!
Thinking you weren’t as fresh and not as overtrained as you thought, despite the easy week. Given the acute trauma you likely injured in during a hard session sometime beforehand. Good to hear you’re on the mend. Don’t forget to keep protein and fluids elevated too!
Thank you for this. Always find stories of cyclists overcoming injuries to be very inspiring, as I cope with my own obstacles. Looking forward to more videos updating your progress. Cheers! from Oregon.
Do not lose hope! I am 15+ years post hip replacement and I am riding stronger than I ever have. My replacement was not due to an injury, so I cannot relate there, mine was due to over use (competitive tennis player) along with some congenital dysplasia. I had my replacement when I was in my late 30s. Follow the advice of your doctor/surgeon while at the same time not allowing yourself to accept any excuses to not progress! Finally, once you do get back on the bike, have a professional bike fitting done and then potentially another after 6 months to a year...your body and how you ride/relate to the bike will change!
Hey sorry to hear about your injury/setback Was wondering if you see any correlation between the injury and riding mid foot ? Is it something that over time weakens the calf?🤔 Love to know what you think And I wish you a very speedy recovery
You could take a pure pain reliever that is not anti inflammatory to allow for repair but you will eventually need an anti inflammatory for preventing sequelae like mucle fibrosis which will render the muscle scarred and weaker
I don't mean you take the anti inflam right away to allow for repair but eventually after some repair there could be more fibrosis which is not good. There are also pain relievers that are not anti inflamatory
How do you tear something as big as the gastrocnemius ? It could be from old injuries. The gastrocnemius is the biggest leg muscle could it be related to the old z coil related injury? Light massages now not deep intervertebral old massages huh ? Was it even in the lower lumbar or lumbosacral that triggered .......allegedly?

@@ShawnIsBatman thanks.
Don’t feel so bad. I just gave myself an inguinal hernia at work several days ago. 1 week before my Conquer the Coast 66 mile ride.
@@CaptainRon956 we must have good timing. Crud
I remember buying crutches in late January 2022 behind CVS Good deal I bought it for a friend who had an injury in Maryland parkway.
Heel lift. Get your pelvis adjusted. Cycle on a trainer with your heels on the pedals. Strengthen your anterior compartment muscles.
Thanks for the tips!
That Grossman/Radnet situation sucks - monopolies not good.
This sounds like me, 12 weeks ago right hip replacement on freak cycling injury. Sux

Hey sorry to hear about your injury/setback
Was wondering if you see any correlation between the injury and riding mid foot ?
Is it something that over time weakens the calf?🤔
Love to know what you think
And I wish you a very speedy recovery
Riding midfoot in theory would lessen the strain on the calf. That's why so many triathletes use it.

Well if the repair over corrects you may be needing steroids
