I’m right there with you! Frankly, its a damn shame and VERY frustrating that we can get more help from ppl on RUclips than right where we live in front of the damn doctor or PT therapist. They just want to bill us and our insurance and medicate us and send us on our way only to return and repeat!

I just want to say that this injury started when I was a teenager and I'd been compensating for it for over 20 years while doing extreme physical activity in my personal life and in the military. It wasn't until I started practicing martial arts, meditation/mindfulness and breathwork did I have the awareness to realize that this was even an issue for me! Turns out, it's HUGE issue and this discovery has been a game changer. Thanks for this video!

What a great video on this, thanks so much for this.Your mention of different terrain, camber and hills is spot on. I find running XC and up a slight incline is much better for me and less harsh than the road. I have also stuck in a superfeet insole and what a difference. At 1st when walking I hated the feeling of it pushing on the arch, but once i started running i felt so much more secure and i ran 6 miles without any pain. By the end of the run i did not even notice the insole. So anyone watching and suffering with this get an insole in your shoe as it def helps. Thanks again.

I appreciate the direct applications to running/jogging.
The variable of compression was important in that I was practicing some the tactics that were exacerbating my symptoms(hard orthotics, aggressive massage and stretching, ankle brace). I have been a barefoot runner for about 3 years (20 miles a week) and have found that shortening my stride length and increasing cadence(from 156 steps/minute to 193 steps per minute) really made a difference with my flat feet. This problem always pops up when my cadence slows and my strides open up. I appreciate the strengthening exercises you suggested.

@@joel553009 I have completely stopped running and am cycling a ton, it's quite fun. I figure it's not tendinitis and actually stress fractures, in both legs. I came back to running, when not fully healed, did a total of maybe 150 miles over 2 months and the pain returned. It's been really depressing and stressful dealing with it but I've finally accepted that it's gonna take as long as it takes. I won't run at all until there has been no tenderness. I'm making the most of cycling and the gym for now.

superb video. I have been trying to treat this since november and still suffering. I was referred to NHS (UK) physio and was told to immediately stop running and was given some very aggressive stretching exercises. I felt like it was recovering but seemed to keep 'flaring' again. My ankle feels very stiff and I struggle to walk after being in bed. Interestingly I spend a lot of time standing with my job and this is ringing a bell in my head from what you've said. Thank you so much for this, it's so good to hear from a runners perspective.

I have flat feet and foolishly I did quite a few of the tip toe stretches at the start of my pain, which I now realize aggravated the tendon more. I eventually visited a physiotherapist who advised the towel exercise, so I'll continue with that, purchase some orthotic insoles (only now) and follow your guidelines. Thank you so much.

Great video, I remember this first hurting when I jumped a fence at school maybe 10-15ft drop and landed on my feet. It went for many years and I was later diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos syndrome then the last two years it’s been constant, even wearing socks hurts and it comes on with zero warning even when I’m on rest for my joints and mr arches are pretty high as noted by my surgeon but he refused surgery from the EDS but my arches goes flat when it flares up and the pain even reaches the inside of my knees. In March I was listening to some Megan thee stallion with the girls and decided to prove I “had dem knees and ankles like hot girl meg” then smoked a joint whilst doing it with no hands then the next day my ankle flared up and only settled down last week 🙃 my feet are super flexible and my surgeon is one of Europe’s top 5 ankle specialists and even he was confused after moving my ankles and seeing the range they had

Thank you Maryke, this all makes perfect sense. I have found my issue is my glute is weak on the same side. Wonderful information - doing the supination with a band made my ankle feel much better too.
