The new Medieval Town Square looks incredible! The classic one is really cool too. I wish i could afford both

The new Medieval Town Square set looks pretty good but I wish they included more animals like the ox, chicken, and pig.
It feels a bit empty without these animal elements. I had to go back and buy the Barn City set and farmer CMF minifigure (pricey on the aftermarket) just to pick up some animals for the MTS.
I haven't bought the MTS yet and I feel it's not a day one purchase. It's better to wait for a Double VIP Points event and better GWP offering before I'll be buying it personally.

I agree. I have been waiting for a GWP due to sticker use and lack of animals... even another goat and horse would have been suffice... but its still a great set and a must have...

Do you think both sets complement each other? Do you think the Medieval Market Village, Medieval Town Square and Lions' Knight Castle can make a nice diorama?

An important note here is who the sets were aimed at: 2009 was for 12+ while the Icons one is for 18+. Younger fans will likely be less concerned about the building experience than adults, and some techniques for the 2024 set may be too advanced for middle schoolers.
This set is clearly aimed at adults like myself who enjoy trickier, clever designs, who have fond memories of the earlier set, and will be amused by all the Easter eggs. It's also aimed at folks who have deeper pockets. This is way outside the range of what most kids can afford, and I certainly wouldn't be spending $230 on a set for a young kid; I'm still trying to figure out how to afford it for myself.

The new Medieval Town Square is a must have, I”ll pick it up at the next extra points sale.
I have the old set already and am planning on building a large castle to anchor a new medieval section in my Lego room. One thing that does bother me a bit…….it’s the Medieval Blacksmith Shop. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, it’s one of my favourite sets, but, I hate that they made it a different scale from the other Medieval buildings. Unless you build a massive castle, the BS Shop will dwarf it and it is way bigger than any of the buildings in the new sets. If Lego is going to keep adding new Medieval sets, they should really think about appropriate scaling and design. Other than that, Medieval is my favourite theme, next to City, as in big Lego city. 👍😎😬🇨🇦

I totally agree the new one is better. The animals can be sourced somewhere else and the minifigs are partly better, partly not - but I would give it a draw there.
The only issue I have are the stickers, but the old one had stickers as well. Both of them are great sets though.
Now if we had some small medieval farm sets to complement the big one

Might be a hot take, but I think the new Medieval Town Square blows the older version out of the water in terms of value, details, display-ability. The only advantage for the older version is the extra animals. I think the Minifigures are pretty much even. And both sets have stickers, so even playing field there as well.

They look great together! I might need to dive deep into my draws and try to rebuild Market Village and Mill Village raid to go with the new buildings!

The classic appears to be from a richer neighborhood.

Thanks for this. Have been in two minds as to whether to pick it up, and whether or not to sell the old one if I do. It’s great to see them together - the difference in build detail becomes obvious. How well do you think they match up when displayed together

6:49 Surprised you didn't mention how in the 2008 medieval set, the women are all in dresses doing traditional women's work, yet in the 2024 medieval set, most of the women are wearing men's clothing and doing traditionally men's work. Quite a difference for two sets that are supposed to be from the same historical time period....
