This set is an absolute must buy for me personally. I don't mind the more realistic look to the buildings and I can never get enough Castle sets! Already got it sitting in the closet waiting for a future Christmas...
Awesome! I get it. It’s a definitely a set that a lot of people will love and probably will be a great seller for Lego. I’m also a big fan of castle so I’m with you there!
I really think this set is amazing. I like your review but disagree with a few points you made. The buildings and colors used are really well done if you ask me. It's easy to make everything grey, brown and tan colored when you build something like this so I love the different colors used and appreciate the unique color palette in this set. I also love how the buildings open up and the interiors are really creative. Plus we get the return of the Wolf Pack Minifig!!!!! So really I don't think we need another forestman fig in this set. I think $230 is amazing value for this so it's a must buy for me.
One thing that you did not consider is that the Medieval Blacksmith set is out of scale with the Lion Knights Castle and they do not look good together unlike the Medieval Town Square.
Was very excited when it was announced but underwhelmed when it came out. Still on the fence. Not sure it is shelf worthy with limited space. Maybe someday for a great price deal only.
There's no design consistency with this set. Not with the colors, the shapes, patterns, textures-none of it. And it also lacks a focal point. I believe this is what makes this set look underwhelming to most people, myself included.
I think you’re right. Someone else mentioned the focal point in the comments and I think that is a huge part. There needed to be a central piece that stood out as well as had a great design and color scheme like the medieval blacksmith.
I told my Lego fanatic friend that it looked like a 3 in 1 build because it was too plain. He proceeded to sell the set to me like he was a LEGO employee for a good 10 minutes. 😄
Great review, critical without being negative, very fair overall!. I think this set needed another market stall, and another animal or two. Personally think the design ( other then the two unfinished roofs ) is fantastic, as for colours same thing, though I think the timber for the tavern should be brown and not olive green, looks like throw up. Other then that I’m really happy with the set!.
Having just built this, I would argue that this set is totally worth the cost and time, and as a kid that got my first Lego castle sets in 1987, it totally reminds me of the joy and excitement I had back in the day when building my first sets. Perfect? No, but another great entry into what I hope will be a renaissance of Castle system sets in the future. Thanks for your review!
Awesome! The set is very cool. I also grew up with the Castle sets and they are definitely at the top of my list. I think also a focal point was a challenge for me on this set. I’m looking forward to building the knights castle soon and adding the Town Square to it. I think they will go great together!
I think the takeway here is that this set makes alot more sense if you have the lion's knights castle. If you love the castle then i recommend this set.
To be absolutely honest, now that I look at them together, they really do complement each other perfectly. I don't think the town square is impressive enough on it's own. The castle is more impressive but it looks rather lifeless and out of context without the town square. I missed the medieval Blacksmith, seemed like a great set but it's not in the same theme as these two sets, which clearly follow the same building ideas. Sorry to say for those on a budget but it's best to have both sets to really make this work. Wish I could add a picture so you all get a better idea.
That is actually brilliant! I’d didn’t think of that but it makes perfect sense. It just looks like a bunch of buildings with no real stand out feature/build.
We bought this day one, in large part because my daughter was super excited for it. I like it, but don’t love it.Also, that’s not a bright yellow bed for the knight, it’s more cheese.
Yes, poor colours. Also, the loose tree is annoying for display. Just make it all one elegant set that sits on the shelf with places to put the minifigs. It’s a bunch of loose pieces.
100 $for minifigures that in a week or a month you will be able to buy for 25$ and goat will be on pab for something like 5 $. Now people are just trying to earn as much as they can on people who don't want to wait few weeks or months
True. There definitely is the possibility that will go down and even out over time. Most of the minifigures are exclusive though so as long as LEGO does not release them again, there is a good chance they will still sell at a higher price.
@@TheBrickQuest there is no doubt in my mind they will release them. Look at recent Eldorado set or viking village. Almost all minifigures from viking village are already on most buy list in my country - you order them and wait a week only not a month like for standard parts
Thanks for the review!! Whats up with the goats, you can buy the online for a buck in china... Which I guess it would suck for a billionaire company that's trying to artificially increase the price of a plastic goat...i mean really sometimes you just have to be judicious with your money...after having only 4 goats for 5 years sobering and waiting for lego to make goats, I am swimming with goats now...so many goats of all colors..100% the same thing
I won't buy it because these weirdos want to make the carpenter a woman and most of the figs look like generic modern city people. This set is so bad, and it should have been designed to be $149 if you werent going to make any effort. $229 requires something special, not just more buildings for quantity.

All great points! I definitely do really like the interiors and minifigs. Plus you get the goat which is awesome. lol

Medieval town. Turkey. Croissant. Yeah, I know, fantasy and stuff, but: really?
Yes. Maybe could have a swapped a few things out!
Was very excited when it was announced but underwhelmed when it came out. Still on the fence. Not sure it is shelf worthy with limited space. Maybe someday for a great price deal only.
I know what you mean! I felt the same way. I think it’s much better at a discounted price point.

😂 that’s hilarious! True LEGO fan.

Thanks! It still is a great set to have! Some more animals would’ve definitely been in order.

Not a day1 purchase like the knight’s castle but will probably get it when it goes on sale in future
Good call. If it goes on sale for 20-30% off in the future then it definitely becomes a much for appealing purchase!

The trouble with the set is there's no focal point. It feels like there's something missing.

nice! That’s what it is. No wonder the bed was yellow! 😂😂
Hey I just wanted to say that I really liked the review, and that you explained the references and the funny cheese bits haha
Thanks! I really appreciate that. I definitely thought all the cheese in the set was notable. 😂

I agree. I’m not a fan of a lot of small side builds because they tend to get lost and are hard to move around.
This set is not worth it imo.
I think if it gets discounted out the future then it is a nice buy. It does have some things that can be improved on though.
No you shouldn't buy it my paycheck hasn't came in yet and I want one
Nice! It’s a nice set. Also great if you pair it with the Castle.

Great review and I agree based on my recent purchase and build of this set.
I do love the Castle theme so I’m hoping they will come out with some more sets and continue improving on the design side.
I would give this review 15 out of 15.
Thanks very much!

Interesting thought. I have never thought to purchase them that way. Sounds like you got your hands on a lot of them though.

I can see what you’re saying! I’m sure there are more medieval sets to come so I guess we will see if Lego does something different.
This is a wacky video 🤷♂️ pseudoscience
