What an awesome few days exploring the British countryside & who better to share that experience with than Simon. We had an amazing few days Bikepacking & wild camping around Suffolk, taking in the views, food & local historical places. too much to see in just one weekend, fingers crossed we can arrange another great adventure like this one soon. Massive thank you to Simon for joining me on this trip, it was an absolute honour to meet such a charismatic & humble guy. Peace
Thank you mate! I had a fantastic weekend - you are a great guide, knowledgeable, patient (with me and my slow trudges up them hills 🤣) and good company! Look forward to our next adventure!
Hi folks, I forgot to mention Luke’s video - he was also filming the trip, Here’s the link ruclips.net/video/Q0ZrQCMvIRI/видео.html - I’ve also put a link to his channel in the description box - he’s got huge amounts of excellent content on bike packing, cycle touring, bushcraft, kit and all sorts, so please head over and take a look. Cheers, Simon
Thanks for this Simon. I've delved into Luke's video in the past, I've seen his name in my own channel comments. Always good to see fellow RUclipsrs meeting up, something sadly missing from the last couple of years. Always love your videos Simon, both engaging, but also very relaxing!
@@AnvilAirsoftTV feel free to follow mine, as I do lots of bikepacking trips and going to be filming lots this year. I am new to youtube but have always done bikepacking trips across europe and UK
Love that effort you didin the waking up scene, you've obviously already got up and set the camera up and then you jump back in to the bivy and put on that Oscar or bafta award winning check of the head and lung cleanser. And award for best supporting actor goes to your beanie.
Great content as always Simon. Love seeing the English countryside through your eyes since I'll never be able to afford to travel abroad. Can't wait to see more.
Are you in the US? I guess South America could be a lot more affordable for you guys to do some bike touring? How costly are the flights to there from the US?
Those little clips of the seashore and the wind blowing there at the end makes me think you should build a sail for your bike also lol. Great video. I am not a city dweller, the parts of the UK you show are always interesting to me. Small towns and villages and the great outdoors. Keep up the good work.
I agree. This is very interesting. American schools teach us nothing about the UK geography…except that the Beatles came from Liverpool. :( (There are the exceptions…a few of us read books when we were kids).
@@tcschenks Yeah it’s pretty sad that a lot of our ancestors came from that area and how little we really know about it. Every time he takes a walk or goes for a paddle and show us his maps I am on Google earth checking the place out. It would really be nice to be able to take a trip there someday and spend a couple of weeks just checking out the different areas.
Yes that white water shoot was awesome. But I have to admit I almost teared up when he broke the bottom of that Cedar strip canoe. I like building things myself so I know how much time in care goes into projects. It was nice to watch him repair it and it looked good as new.
@@tcschenks The UK is an amazing place with beautiful landscapes. Found out I was 1/3 Scotch and visited for a month prior to retiring. Love the country, hate the political climate (just like home).
There was a small spider on the log that went in the fire. But luckily it walked off. Lol. Enjoy your channel. Been a subscriber for years on my other RUclips account. Just looking back at your other videos as I do enjoy them. Rewatch a lot of them.
Awesome video Simon. i did a mtb climb camp and decend in Germany while i was serving there and one in Scotland they wherent solo but we did sleep under basha's Tarps) cooked on open fire, and enjyed a few wee tipples in the evenings as well as a rather random walk down to the local pub (which took a lot longer to get to than we'd have liked on our first night out in Bavaria) Anyways you truly can beat that soirt of thing the bike lets you get a lot further than you can in the given time on foot .... plus the decent takes a quarter of the time and its awesome fun. Great video mate well done
Just offering a suggestion from an old bicycle tourist. Try raising your saddle about two inches. Your leg should be nearly fully extended ( with a slight bend ) when you place your foot on the "down peddle" when sitting on your saddle. You will surprised the difference it will have on knee pain.
I'm loving the channel! Of course; there are 2 ways to eat a good steak - rare, almost bleu and the wrong way! Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 and well done! Oh dear! At 20:21 your steak looked over done. 😱
Ahh cracking mate, that's proper got me in the mood to bike pack. Fantastic new bike Simon, looks ace that and my my, your right about the thick tyres. Very enjoyable camp too, lovely food and a beer or two! Look forward to next week's part 2
Brilliant stuff lads , great trip. Love a bit of mtbiking and a good bit of camping so what's better than combining them both and with a few beers and a steak or two ya can't go wrong . Cheers Simon Atb Rick n Billydog
I love your videos, makes me wish I was 25 years younger. Sadly my cycling days are long gone and I think my bikes would be useless down little lanes and in and out of trees. One has a 600cc engine, the other is a 650cc, which incidentally I treated myself to a few months back. Keep the videos coming, great stuff!
On my the Leg Cramps! First long ride on my motorcycle in a group! Must have looked funny as Heck to those behind me?! Bought the additional foot rests so I can now place my feet in Different places. Dinner looked tantalizing. Keep my cow Mooing as it hits the plate! Nice Video Again! Keep the Smiles coming and say HI to Family for All Watching!
Got to say Simon is the best British bushcraft /camping on you tube. Should get more views. If I was stranded I would want him rather than Kent or the other ones
Simon, love the sound intro/exit. Your video quality is impressive. From across the pond I watch your videos every week. Thank you as well as Richard and Andy for redirecting my attention through the political hot mess these days.
Awesome episode Sir Simon! Cant wait for part 2. The steaks and mash looked absolutely Stunning 😋👌! Cheers Brotha from across the pond, California 🇺🇸 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
Great vid Simon, as for the hills, a colleague of mine many years ago was an avid cyclist and cycled East Anglia. He said the hills are almost non existant, but the uphill gradients are very long and laborious. Long enough to be tiring, but not steep enough to have a rest going down.
I miss the old Kona!! The sender looks awesome though. Anyway brilliant film and loved all the effort into different camera angles. That's not easy constantly changes positions to film stuff whilst enjoying your break from modern life . Cheers
The leg cramp, something my mom taught that works quick to get rid of them, calcium, fluids like milk, and vitamin B6, I try to keep some handy. It is a quick fix...I am outside around sunset. Testing some PV solar cooking, a power station and panels that are recharging after powering an instant pot.... did a nice pork loin with veggies.... it did a good job. The new power station is doing a job with the limited panels I have out.
Ha I got me an e bike for Christmas and I can't stop! Over 700 miles already and I haven't ridden a bicycle since the 90's when I was in high school! This is so freaking fun I feel like a kid again and the world is my back yard! My back can't handle hiking with a heavy bag long distance anymore 😭
Thank you! I usually just reply to the first hundred or so comments on the videos, but yours popped up and I recognised that you’ve been commenting on a few lately, so thank you!! - it’s hugely appreciated! 😁 glad you’re enjoying the videos 😊
Loved this video man. Nice relaxing vibes. Just got into bikepacking a year ago and did a few overnighters. Working my way up to longer trips and this was very inspiring. Keep on rocking!

I'm pretty much a new subscriber and a now retired combat soldier liking all that you bring to us, are you ever doing any more in Kent? I only wish that my wounds that I took in my hips while on active duty overseas would let me enjoy doing just what you do.

Great to see you out there. Thumbs up and take care.
Yet another superior video from "the bloke in the woods." We always enjoy content that includes a country as a whole, not just life in cramped cities.
Really enjoyed this but it’s making me homesick!
Great footage, interesting places and great camping. Amazing all your gear goes into those small bags. Minimalistic 👍
Loved hearing the pheasants off in the distance!
Nice first day of the trip, lovely castle and lovely grub.
