When Martin Hyu invited us to participate in his podcast, we quickly figured that the best way to make him understand our process in the studio was to have him experience it for himself before talking about our art or the technology that is integral to our process. So we did a few 360 shots with him to warm us up. After the interview, we met Martin in his element, his new restaurant Le Garden Room. We were curious to learn more about him and everything he does, and we wanted to eat delicious food.
He told us that his strong interest in art led him to study graphic design & to eventually pick up a camera. As he was shooting food in restaurants & bars for his portfolio, he also developed an interest in marketing, thanks to Gary Vee. That led him to open a creative & media agency, Mars Media, as he wanted to help restaurant owners use social media as a marketing tool. As he did so, he fell in love with the industry of hospitality and invested in his first restaurant in 2019.
On top of that, he’s also invested in different Web3 projects such as Vee Friends & Proof Collective, as well as developing the first NFT members’ club in Montreal, called MAYA Club.
It’s always inspiring to learn how other’s journeys unfolded and what led them to where they are today. Martin seems to lead what he does with curiosity and mindfulness, following his various interests and finding ways to create connections between them. And as you can imagine, that resonates a lot with us.
