i own a honda vario 125 my advice is to check and clean your cvt every 3000 kms or when you feel a drag or vibration when accelerating. a little tip when your sliders are loose and you somehow cant find a replacement is to find a soda or beer can, cut it and stick it in to your worn sliders so it would be snug again when you put it back although this is only a temporary fix

I have a pcx 125 while i was cleaning the filter thats on top the variator and clutch there was dried engine oil in it. Do you know how that could've happened?

    Good coverage 👍
Quick question I've just fitted a malossi 2000 kit to my 2020 yamaha x max 400 (euro 4)
I seem to have gained a rattle at around 4000 rpm then goes off as I throttle out .
Originally put 10gm rolls in then changed to 12gm rolls any ideas?

Hi Mike, Thanks for the SUB👍. Did you follow the Malossi instruction manual? Page 39 of the manual in English for Variator 5114148.
Did you fit the shim? Let's say you did all of this. Then deconstruct your assembly and try to identify which single part or group change causes the rattle. Is it in the rear pulley?

      Good day
      Thanks for your reply 👍
I did follow the correct procedure plenty of grease ect
      The shim was placed.
I did also fit the clutch adjuster spring (white) not sure if it's coming from the rear pull It's hard to tell when I'm riding.
I will have to dismantle again 🙄
What could it be if its coming from the rear pull?
      Thanks
      Mike

@@mikehalliday9154 Try yo work out where the noise is coming, front or rear? Check the basics, nuts and so on. Fit the OEM variator back on and check again.. Good luck..

@@mikehalliday9154 One other thing came to mind, does the transmission use a centre belt guiding wheel, you see these on the Piaggio machines and it spaces and controls the belt movement, when it wears out it will develop a rattle on the center bush, excess play as it wears.

hi, thanks again for the informative video, how do I know if I need a roller change?

    • @scooterstreetau
      @scooterstreetau  3 года назад

Thank you. You should check the condition of your rollers, are they worn? If you want to you can trial a lighter set than the standard.

@Scooter Street sorry. Stress. New owner of a 150cc TaoTao Lancer Eagle. Drive belt shredded at 2500 miles and I replaced it, and then all the variator parts... twice. Never wanted to seat correctly. When it does, the plastic guides go in 2 miles and you hear the metal. Repeat process. Switch it out, again, and runs sweet til you put the cover on and ride off. Sigh. Then I saw "how to prevent expensive.."... anyway... best wishes.

@@TymP321 Hello my friend😁. Ok, it is possible that the parts are not fitted correctly from new. Make sure the final nut is super tight when all is fitted, so there is no lateral movement on the variator or the fixed fan plate.
Check the rear pulley, look for a lack of tension of the pulley faces, they must be under tension and squeezing together. Sometimes this pulley assembly needs to be disassembled when a belt breaks and the debris removed.
The quality of these Chinese belts is often poor, I would fit a Malossi or Bando branded belt to solve this issue.
Even consider replacing the variator assembly with the higher quality brand.

@Scooter Street actually did replace everything...except rear parts. As far as tightening I bought a new air driven impact drill and new air compressor to run it. Sounds like I'm changing tires in a NASCAR pit when I use it. Like I said, once changed up I start it with the cover off to check and it runs smooth as glass. Looks beautiful. Then I put on the cover and a couple miles down the road I can suddenly hear the metal as the plastic breaks. It makes that sound and then stops. It runs great, but I know if I remove the cover and variator I'll find one or two broken pieces and I'll replace it yet again. Maybe I'll buy that higher end Teflon coated set. Was trying to avoid escalated expenses.... though $600 in impact drill expenses wasn't cheap I guess....

@@TymP321 After this short run is there evidence of rubbing or scuffing from the case or other?
Check that rear pulley too. I have seen most issues with variator but what you describe may possibly be something new. email us through the contact page on the website: www.scooterstreet.com.au/
