    I am more concerned about the explosion of batteries during charging, not driving, but charging. You can say BMS all you want, no car manufacturer, especially Tesla will want to touch you once your warranty expires. Another scenario of concern is when u get into an accident, I foresee most car manufacturer will charge you for the entire battery$$$$$.
    Until these stupid issues get sorted through standardization, I won't touch EVs with a ten foot pole.

    One of the "advantages" at least for current batteries is that they contain a lot of rare materials. This is an advantage because it very quickly becomes too expensive to dig up making recycling cheaper by comparison so I expect this will go pretty well. The need for batteries will only grow and if recycling is the most profitable way to get new ones that's where the investment will go.

    • @tsgu8728
      @tsgu8728 3 года назад

      By the same logic, batteries will get more expensive and they constitute the main cost of an EV. So the EV now will costs more, then will you still buy? Assuming petrol cars costs comes down due to competition from EVs, will you still consider them? 🤔 just a thought

      Most EV chargers are interoperable, in fact within SG itself...they are standardized to use type 2 (AC) and CCS2 (DC). Hence, you can head down to Shell / Greenlots, SP Charging or even fall back on 3 pin plugs to charge your EV. Hope that clarifies it! :)

    • @alwinsingh4879
      @alwinsingh4879 3 года назад +1

      @@CalvinK300 I would say look into the 2 cars you plan to get. Majority of the EVs out there are cross compatible (E.g. BYD, Hyundai, Toyota, BMW i3) and the IEC has also set out EV guidelines to standardise charging (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3). If you plan to get a Porsche, Tesla, etc, you may find compatibility issues. Nonetheless, common brands as mentioned above are cross compatible. The above would also justify why SP Charging Stations and Shell have standardized on using Type 2 (AC) and CCS2 (DC) inlet

      current numbers based on Tesla records since 2012 is 1 fire in over 200 million miles driven. Based on US gov records, the petrol vehicle equivalent stat is 1 fire in every less than 20 million miles driven. The odds of a fire statistically in an electric car is, numerically speaking, substantially lower.

    Maybe be more upfront regarding how spontaneous the fire is and the relative possibility of escape compared to petrol car, while the end result is the whole vehicle may still burn, petrol ICE cars generally provides for more time to escape upon detection than EVs which spontaneously combust

    • @ryantan1022
      @ryantan1022 3 года назад +1

      And also don’t bs us with “a tank full of highly flammable liquid”, go check out yourself, petrol stored correctly especially with a full tank with a low air mix is actually pretty safe and hard to combust instantly by itself, even in aviation fires, planes don’t just go boom full of jet fuel, however their “Sophisticated battery tech” does just combust spontaneously just like with some 787s

    • @tsgu8728
