    --------------------------------------------------
9 years ago today, Hurricane Sandy ravaged through New York City. Hurricane Sandy did a ton of damage in NYC and it's subway system. Millions of gallons of water flooded many of the major tunnels and many of the stations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, which most infamously included the New South Ferry Station.
A few days after the hurricane struck, the MTA organized a massive shuttle bus operation between Midtown Manhattan, and various parts of Brooklyn, primarily Williamsburg and Downtown Brooklyn. Basically every depot in the city helped cover this massive shuttle, filling in the gap for subway service that was decimated by the hurricane.
In this video, you'll see various clips and pictures of the many buses participating in this operation.
I hope you guys enjoy the video. Subscribe & stay tuned for more!!

For those who are wondering, the Brooklyn terminal for the three Shuttle Buses was Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, Hewes Street, and Jay Street MetroTech all terminating at East 57th Street & 3rd Avenue. The only depots that did not cover runs was Far Rockaway, Meredith, and Yonkers.

No way it has been nearly a decade since. You'd probably never see CNGs in Midtown ever again. Kinda miss this old fleet

This was the first time CNG buses ran over the Manhattan Bridge since the B51 was transferred out of Jackie Gleason Depot. While not shown in this video, Baisley Park and LaGuardia ran some of their ex-Bee Line Orion V's to cover some runs.

I honestly think that the early 2010s was the time when the MTA truly had variety in their bus fleet.

Great video, being a bus operator myself, with everyone talking about the bus variety here. Whenever a transit system needs help.Whatever you have left in the bus depot plus the extra bus operators you get the job done. It's stressful work but whenever you can help the trains that what counts. RIP to all these legends of buses here my forever favorites, RTS, New Flyer Artic, Orion 5.

It's amazing to watch this 10 years after hurricane Sandy and see so many of my childhood buses in this video. Virtually all buses in this video have since been retired, and even the newest buses in this video are among the oldest buses in the city now. Amazing how time flies.

This was recorded in the year 2012. I have never seen these MTA buses before. It's like how one MTA bus led the other to follow them to safety before Hurricane Sandy arrives.

@@kalelc1996 Yup. A lot of the CNG's from the 90's were starting to retire and by 2020, its became almost nothing but Novabus and New Flyer Xcelsiors. With the OG and NG HEV's being the last piece of Orion left.
