      You should at least be grateful that NY has a subway system. It is very complex, it helps to ease congestion, you don't have to rely on traffic, and it is one of the few subway systems that is open 24/7. Plus, it is the largest in the whole country with over 470 stations. If NY didn't have a system like this, then there would be crazy traffic jams and there would be more congestion and pollution.

      Yep - R46 cars from 1975. These are the last NYCTA subway cars produced in the USA.

    • @robertko5425
      @robertko5425 2 года назад +1

      Yep - the R46's were built by Pullman-Standard of Chicago, Illinois with a total amount of 754 cars after its all said and done. They went out of business back in 1981 after suffering huge losses in their passenger railcar business. Saint Louis Car Company also went out of business in 1974 after completing a 352 cars order known as the R44's for the NYCTA & SIRTOA. American car & Foundry also closed-up shop in 1962 after they completed the R26/R28 subway car order for the NYCTA as well. Buss Closed-up shop after completing the M3/M3A for 174 cars for the LIRR & 142 cars for Metro North Railroad in 1988 as well. So, there are no longer anymore domestic railcar car builders left in the USA. Aerospace company Rohr Industries tried their hands at the railcar market for BART & WMATA, and also went out of business in 1977 after suffering huge losses as well. The question is, why does building railcars in the USA cause the US carbuilders so much grief ???

I love this line, especially the Astoria portion from QBP, and you've given me lots of suggestions of spots to visit, both in Manhattan and Queens. Kudos on your great poise - especially not getting distracted while that crude idiot was blasting non-stop obscenities into his cell phone along the Astoria Line portion of your trip. Better get your rides and pictures of these 47 year old R46's while they are still around. When the new R211's receive their Huawei chips, and are delivered in the next few years, these R46's will be replaced along with their R44 SI's in Staten Island as well. These cars have served well since 1975, and will probably see 50 years of service the way the R32's and R42's did not too long ago.

    Really enjoying your videos, it reminds me of when I lived in NY, loved the city, I'm surprised people don't complain about you filming them?

    Lol ...ok, well, I guess I'm going to come off like a "Debbie Downer" compared to your other comments. I'm born and raised from Queens and only moved away less than 6 years ago. I came to visit October 2021, stayed in Long Island City, but did not go in the subway. I've rode those trains for many years though.🙂 I'm so surprised by the amount of people packed on the train like pre-2020. Even with what looks like one surgical type mask, which we have learned is not enough right now. I love my NYC people, especially the natives, we are so resilient, but sometimes too caught in that invincible "can't stop, won't stop" mentality. And the singer had his mask down. 😒 Oh AK 😔. Other than that, yup it was a nice video, as always. ❤️🗽

    Why are the entrances to stations, stations, trains, and pathways so narrow and small? Also, everything seems so unclean. There are no security checkpoints too. This makes me feel grateful for the metro we have in New Delhi, our systems seem lightyears ahead to be honest.
