    • Post Hurricane Sandy :...
    Blackout videos are also here
    • In & Out Of Darkness :...
    One of the big issues when it comes to New York City is the lack of public transportation....subway service in particular. Hurricane Sandy knocked out pretty much the entire NYC Subway System due to the power loss and the immense flooding.
    One of the major backlashes of this storm was not only the lack of public transportation, but also the lack of power in parts of Manhattan. Subway service was crippled and Shuttle Buses were replacing subway service along different sections.
    Today, there were Shuttle Buses running up 3rd Avenue and down Lexington Avenue. Some shuttle buses were headed to Hewes Street via the Williamsburg Bridge while others were headed to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center via the Manhattan Bridge. 330 buses were reserved for this gigantic shuttle operation.
    As you can see here, Shuttle Buses were also operating in the blackout areas serving all the customers that have to go into Brooklyn. The mass amounts of people that were waiting for the buses were incredible. I've never seen anything like this in my entire life. You'll see a lot of different buses in this 3 part set a this location picking up passengers and being directed by the NYPD to stop where they can stop.
    There will be many post Hurricane Sandy videos in both transit and non-transit situations uploaded on my main account and on my secondary account, Caitsith810. Be sure to subscribe and stay tuned

      Right, this was wild. Great time to fan, but a real pain in the ass to get around. The sights and sounds were surreal.

    So, looking at the description, I guess I can say NYC needs more bus routes to support the subway?!

      nope!! when hurricane sandy happened, it flooded really bad to the point where the tunnels where the subways go through were so badly damaged because of both flooding and salt water damage to the rails. the shuttle buses were just acting as trains until the train services themselves were up and running again

    • @ShaneAkACaitSith810
      @ShaneAkACaitSith810  10 лет назад

      ziggie290 Those were supposed to be for the +Select Bus Service+ that operates on the M15, B44, S79, M34, Bx12, Bx41 and M60, but these lights are no longer active because people complain about them being distracting.

    • @FreekyFreezer
      @FreekyFreezer 10 лет назад +1

      ShaneAkACaitSith810 it was also because blue flashlights are reserved for police and emergency vehicles only.
