Hey! Just wanna make sure that you understood the concept of this video 🥰 In this video, I'll show you which non-qualifying entries of each country I personally like the most! Sometimes I added little comments but what I always did is showing you which non-qualifying entries were close to be in this video instead of the showed entry. 😊 If it says "none", it doesn't mean this country has no good nqs anymore - it only means that I extremly prefer the chosen entry over the other non-qualifiers of the country, so no entry is "close" to the chosen one. If it says "no more nqs", it means that the entry that is shown is the only non-qualifying entry of this country in their eurovision history and therefore the only option. And if you see other entries in the left corner - it shows that I also really like those entries and they were close to being in this list instead of the chosen non-qualifying entry (or at least so good, that I had to mention them). If you have questions or any opinions about the entries, the video or in general anything - just write it in the comments, I answer everything 🤗💖

@@ESCedi Oh okay. That makes sense. I thought that for the big 5, you would play entries that received the lowest number of points given that they're automatic qualifiers but how you prefer doing it with playing your favourites for those, it makes a lot of sense.

I partially agree with you here, she's so talented but not adept in all in dancing she was choreographed for a live performance when it comes to breathing control. She hasn't had enough practice in that to pull it off. However, they could have easily given some slower, more fluid and subtle choreography and staging that matched the sombre and darker tones/mood of the song so she wasn't simply standing or staying still. Could have still been executed on the spot or in a localised manner though; such as having the dancers crowd around her, 'pulling'/assisting in swaying movements, and some softer arm-based work, as well as some impactful facial expressions to help tell the story.
I think there was an issue that they told her to sing in a lower key in the televoting performance. In the jury performance there were technical issues, sooo the track in her ear and the track on the stage were not equal. The track in her started a few seconds later afaik. She was allowed to perform again in front of the jury but still, it was all kind of scuffed this year. She could've easily qualified if the technical issues didn't appear and if she knew which key it will be. But let's be real, the whole contest is kinda scuffed. I love the artists and the songs but the rest is kind of a joke honestly. At least the televoters got what they want. I'm not a fan of Italy this year BUT I can totally accept their win, so the sympathy votings don't kill the whole voting again. Ireland 2008 is legendary! There’s reasons why Dustin is a legend over there. I would like more acts to take his approach to press conferences and turn them into stand up shows! I think that 2014, 2019 and 2021 looked really promising on radio but sadly failed very badly live. My fave FTQ is Latvia 2021, Slovenia 2008 or Hungary 2019 (though the latter as Joci Papai is one of my all time faves), and Czech 2021 would have been if the live performance wasn’t as uncomfortable to watch. I also liked Space loads but Moldova was a sufficient compensation so it isn’t material.

I take it this is from when official, televised semi-finals began in 2004. Before then, there was a qualifying round in 1996 where 29 countries submitted their song on tape and juries in those 29 countries, plus the host country Norway, gave the top 10 songs points in the normal way, and the top 22 countries qualified for the contest. Germany failed this internal preselection with their song "Planet of Blue". You could say that's your automatic favourite non-qualifier from Germany, although the EBU doesn't offically class that as an entry to the ESC 1996 or an entry in Germany's ESC participation history.

I think they would have qualified, but it could have been close run. Only 4 seats were safe (Armenia, Bulgaria, Iceland and possibly Switzerland) and there were strong songs. But I thought this song was quite good and better than at least 4 others. In the final, i simulated it placing 20th.
@@calum5329 in my entirely hand written simulator, where I did my own running order in the same way as ESC does, I put it 13th between Romania and Azerbaijan (my running order had Germany, Australia and Latvia as first 3, Switzerland and Italy in 7th and 8th, Iceland in 11th, Sweden in 15th, Russia in 17th, Ukraine, Armenia (my personal 2020 winner) and Lithuania in slots 20-22, and Malta, Bulgaria and Greece the last 3 after the hosts). Do you think 13th would have been a realistic slot for Ben and Tan?
6:50 im dutch and i dont like this song at all for one reason it is so blend for dutch people, that instrument you hear in the background(draaiorgel/barrel organ/hurdy-gurdy) you hear it in every shopping alley in a city. and it is so annoying to hear when you dont wanna listen to it. i like Trijntje Oosterhuis's - Walk Along(2015) way more
Nor 2005 for that matter. "Razom nas bahato" sounded like a protest chant to me; in fact it sounded to me like a "suicide song" - a subtle attempt to do badly and not have to host in 2006.

@@vavah2071 That's your opinion. You're welcome to it. Everything about YLMWA annoys me - and of course its fine if you don't share my opinion. To me, I found YLMWA a bit whiny and it tries to hit you with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer which, unlike 1944 where it was used to inundate you with the power of sheer emotion, didn't actually add to the song. It works in 1944 because 1944 is all about hitting hard. YLMWA's lyrics and message delivery don't really match. Furthermore, I found some of the musical tropes tired and overused (like the one two three thing), and I just couldn't emotionally connect to the song. The visual in the second half with the psychedelic black and white with blood red was also very confusing and slightly disturbing. Hence, summoning a demon zebra. (Maybe a little nitpicky, but I also hate the use of the word "let", because "let" implies willing choice, e.g if you let someone do something) Also, I compared the two not because they were in the same year, but because they were both tributes to their fathers in a sort of similar genre. AEA was so much more poetic than YLMWA ever was. I don't understand Hungarian, but I looked up a translation and it was just so magical.

@UCOTTxEgHy6H6ewbMziB89cg Ukraine has never been eliminated in semis
As a Dutch, I can say you are so right about 2010😂
Yea I know as I wrote with some people from the Netherlands in the past
Completely agree
@@ESCedi there was a degree of self awareness in the act too. However, the strangest thing about Dustin was that the entry was full of personality but there have been plenty of occasions on the Den where he speaks with little, and it’s still what I find funny!
From Ireland.
My least favourite from Ireland
As a Hungarian, I preferred Pápai Joci's 2019 performance over the 2017 one. Tbh I don't get how Origo finished 8th, but Az én apám didn't qualify...
@@BenefitCounterbench origo is one of my all time faves but I do understand why plenty of people would find Az En Apam a better song. I think it was beautiful and he should have qualified.

Stones and Apollo could've easily been top 10 songs in the final.
Yes 😭😭😭
@@ESCedi * And Takasa. I still listen to their song.
Apollo? 😂 One of the most generic and forgettable euro pop songs I've ever heard. (I had to re-listen it because I only remembered the chick in the yellow dress.)
Stones not. But Apollo deserved final
Yes, most people in The Netherlands do not like Sjalalie. But there's also a story behind how it qualified for ESC, so that made it even less popular
oh, whats it about
@@ESCedi This old guy wrote the song and there were like 5 artists who performed that same song, but in their own style. So people and jury could vote for their favorite. In the end both Sieneke and a girlband ended up with the same score and they kind of forced the old guy to decide between them on the spot. And he didn't want to choose, but he was kind of put under pressure so he just said 'ok, Sieneke then'. Even tough most people did like the other version better. And it felt like he picked her because he was put under pressure

😄😄😄
I take it this is from when official, televised semi-finals began in 2004. Before then, there was a qualifying round in 1996 where 29 countries submitted their song on tape and juries in those 29 countries, plus the host country Norway, gave the top 10 songs points in the normal way, and the top 22 countries qualified for the contest. Germany failed this internal preselection with their song "Planet of Blue". You could say that's your automatic favourite non-qualifier from Germany, although the EBU doesn't offically class that as an entry to the ESC 1996 or an entry in Germany's ESC participation history.

🇺🇦: if they didn’t host in 2005, that would be an easy non-qualifier lol

San Marino would have to be 2008 by a mile for me ngl

I think they would have qualified, but it could have been close run. Only 4 seats were safe (Armenia, Bulgaria, Iceland and possibly Switzerland) and there were strong songs. But I thought this song was quite good and better than at least 4 others. In the final, i simulated it placing 20th.
@@elaychscrazyworld4173 that’s actually a good call, I think it could get a bit higher potentially left side with good running order
@@elaychscrazyworld4173 I actually could see that, yes

Yes, I'm referring to since the semis were introduced 😅 for me before that it was just a pre-round where songs were eliminated 😇
Ok?
6:50 im dutch and i dont like this song at all for one reason it is so blend for dutch people, that instrument you hear in the background(draaiorgel/barrel organ/hurdy-gurdy) you hear it in every shopping alley in a city. and it is so annoying to hear when you dont wanna listen to it. i like Trijntje Oosterhuis's - Walk Along(2015) way more
understandable

This is probably unpopular but if Ukraine wasn't the host, they wouldn't qualify in 2017. That entry was so weak.
Nor 2005 for that matter. "Razom nas bahato" sounded like a protest chant to me; in fact it sounded to me like a "suicide song" - a subtle attempt to do badly and not have to host in 2006.
How the hell could Yes be in this list? It would definitely make a top 5 imo.
Yes, I gave them a Spot in this video as I don't really like any non qualifier from Denmark rly much and the danish broadcaster/organiser of the national final treated them so badly in 2021 and didn't even let them return even tho they submitted a song so I felt like they should be shown again 😅

Yes Az En Apam is still my favorite.
(Maybe a little nitpicky, but I also hate the use of the word "let", because "let" implies willing choice, e.g if you let someone do something)
Also, I compared the two not because they were in the same year, but because they were both tributes to their fathers in a sort of similar genre. AEA was so much more poetic than YLMWA ever was. I don't understand Hungarian, but I looked up a translation and it was just so magical.
@@Kernel15 Ok, that's your opinion, personnally, Germany 2018 is in my top 3 of 2018 but it's your rights if you don't like it
