Speaking of Cali's untimely demise: my mother got herself a volkswagen beetle, a car she's always wanted, she had it for maybe 6 months. One day she was in town, a high traffic area of Indiana, well this day she was at a intersection,following all the road laws, some douche in a f150 came through at 100mph running a red light and hit the car, before she knew what was happening she was crawling out of the car while it was on its side in a ditch. Not one airbag went off, the seatbelt didn't tense up, no safety features went off. She was lucky it didn't roll onto the convertible top. The front axle was sitting over a foot outside the driver's side. She lost her dream car, was covered in glass and had no one to come get her. She was positive about it though bc she realized that if she was in our shitty old rusty dodge neon she wouldn't have made it out that easily. That tiny little thing kept her safe. She wouldn't have made it if she was .1 second later to that intersection. (Ik ik no one asked but the story of cali made me think of this one so I figured why not tell it)
Glad to know that her VW saved her life. But in all honesty, the airbags and seatbelt part make me feel like I should sue VW again 😂😂😂🤦🏻♂️ All in all, it’s great that she made it, even tho her dream car is probably totaled, she can get another one someday, but a life isn’t worth losing for an inanimate object! Always think about your life before saving precious objects.
I swear I can not stand pickup driver's like them they make my blood boil. They think that because they are in a big vehicles that you have to move out the way and let them think that they own the whole damn road. The only thing they are going "own" Is that seat in the court room when they get charged.
My cousin sadly lost his life in a similar situation. He was doing everything correctly and stopped at a red light, when a drugged out 18 year old kid in a silverado rear-ends him at 100+ MPH. My cousin would've survived, but his car flipped on its side, slid across the intersection, and the roof slammed into a concrete pole. The kid is looking at about 20 years in prison

As someone who bought an NA Miata in early 2020, yeah just in the past year they’ve gone up like crazy. Paid $1800 for mine and it wasn’t in the greatest condition, but now I’m seeing some that are the same or worse for almost $3k
TBH, the prices might become even higher for some cars. Like the NSX for sure will keep going up. Maybe even the C6 Z06 will too. However, I think the 996 POrsches and C7 Z06's will come back down.

The e46 is a design that still looks modern today. When my 328i caught on fire in March I ended up falling into a 325i e36 which works out better for the goals I have for the build, but I definitely miss how modern the car actually looked.
Last February I was ready to buy a 350z for around $6500. After I got enough to afford it, lockdown hit and they shot up 2k instantly. Once I got enough again around June, it shot up to 9k lol. Now I'm just going to get a C5 since they have barely changed price at all.

I’ve noticed both the base c5 and c5 z06 are going up in value. They’re both appreciating but of course the Z cost more because it always did. I’ve seen a lot of base c5’s cost 15-18k and z06 cost 22-25k.
another honorable mention, ls1 f bodies, especially the Camaros. The fire birds always sorta held a little more and appreciated faster because the death of Pontiac, but back 5 years ago ls1 maros were 5 grand. Now you have to hunt around to find a good one for 10k and many others are listed for 12-15.

Got a c3 last year for about 7k all original with 39k miles. It’s slower than an 2000’s Corolla, but I still love it. My brother used to have a early c4 corvette stick shift and even now I still want one because of how much fun that car was because of its torque.

As a 17 year old with a low paying job, I saw videos from a few years ago talking about the miata and how cheap it was and I was so excited because there were some for like 1.5k and I knew I could get that pretty easily, now with then being more expensive i have to find something else to be a project car because I just cant get that type of money right now
BK1 and BK2 Genesis Coupe had a jump in price. It's hard to even find a 2010 2.0T with under 100k mi under $10k now. Most BK2s are at least $14k-20k even at 70k mi. I got my 2012 BK1 2.0T back in 2017 for $10k when it had 70k mi.
They look great, specially much better than the initial 996 Carrera headlights. And the curved rims are just beautiful, I've loved them since the 993 Turbo
Prices dropped because people were desperate for money and then they went back up because everyone wanted a cheap reliable used car rather than an expensive new one. One I've been watching is the 1969 Camaro, before covid they were ~$25-30k for a nice driver. When covid started they dropped to ~$17-22k for about a month and then they skyrocketed up to about ~$40-50k and they haven't come down. I have noticed that almost all the top dollar ones have been posted for months and will probably never sell, but everyone sees those prices so they price theres the same.

I think about the C5. People want a more old school driving expirance and the Z06 offers that. It's more high tech rivals now just feel like worst versions of modern cars. Also I think the C8 improved the perception of old corrvettes. New models can effect the perception of old models. The C8 has really improved the clout of the Corrvette. A little big ago there was a song called Adderall. That actually mentions corvettes and they are whiping C8s in the video. There was actually a tik tok dance around it to. The fact that the rap community and the tik tok community are taking note of the C8 is cool.

I had an opportunity to buy a higher mileage 1990 Miata last year for $1200. It needed new shocks and springs, which I priced at ~$600 for all of them, but I ended up not getting the car. Awful mistake on my end. At least I have a C230K W203 though

Crown Vic P71s were a dime a dozen several years ago and could be had at auction for nothing. They’re not sexy, they’re not even that fast but as long as you gave it some TLC the thing would run forever and was a tank. Flash forward to now and finding a decent one at a good price is getting more and more difficult. Last one rolled off the assembly line in 2011 so what’s out there are survivors. Big v8, rear wheel drive sedan is pure Americana.
I feel you could have also put the Honda s2000 on here aswell, which is weird since the other 2 seater roadsters of the time like the BMW Z3's and Porsche boxster's which have steadily lost value over the years, something about that 9000RPM Vtec F20C made the cars just stop depreciating at around 10-15K, and have steadily crept up in value over the last few years,

I had an opportunity to buy a higher mileage 1990 Miata last year for $1200. It needed new shocks and springs, which I priced at ~$600 for all of them, but I ended up not getting the car. Awful mistake on my end. At least I have a C230K W203 though

Crown Vic P71s were a dime a dozen several years ago and could be had at auction for nothing. They’re not sexy, they’re not even that fast but as long as you gave it some TLC the thing would run forever and was a tank. Flash forward to now and finding a decent one at a good price is getting more and more difficult. Last one rolled off the assembly line in 2011 so what’s out there are survivors. Big v8, rear wheel drive sedan is pure Americana.
I feel you could have also put the Honda s2000 on here aswell, which is weird since the other 2 seater roadsters of the time like the BMW Z3's and Porsche boxster's which have steadily lost value over the years, something about that 9000RPM Vtec F20C made the cars just stop depreciating at around 10-15K, and have steadily crept up in value over the last few years,
I bought my 1992 NA 1.6 Miata last year for $2200, it the 170,000 miles and a few problems, it's really fun and was a good deal for the market now

C3 Vettes are on the rise
last year they were worth around 5-8k for a decent running one. Now as of January they start at a minimum of 10k
