  • Here's an unboxing in review of the Arctic Air Pure Chill 2.0.
Bottom Line: The XL is Better than the 2.0 smaller, and worthwhile as a personal cooling unit if the air is blowing directly on you. Doesn't add too much humidity. Costs $2.22 less than running a 5 ton 16 seer HVAC Central Unit for a 5 hr period, and $0.69 less than running a single windo unit for the same 5 hr period. (See bottom below links for entire comp chat & calculations)
    💯 USE A DRIP TRAY 100%. 💯
The video is fairly detailed in its entire coverage. I did have a little bit of trouble getting the filter cartridge out originally, that's in the middle, but bottom line is that for 40 bucks it's a nice personal air conditioning unit that you can actually direct flow on to you personally and it makes it pretty good difference.
As far as chilling a whole room down though, I don't recommend it at all. Nice supplemental, could be useful if you're trying to just cool yourself and not an entire space to save money, situations like that.
I found this 2.0, as well as the Arctic Air Pure Chill XL which was definitely a better unit, at ‪@Walmart‬.
The XL was $79.88 at Walmart here locally in Texas, and used a squirrel cage motor rather than the computer fan motor. I would buy the XL version again before this small one. It worked very well to cool me off in my office as the air was blowing directly on to me.
Arctic Air Pure Chill XL Evaporative Air Cooling Tower, As Seen On TV www.walmart.co...
Arctic Air Pure Chill 2.0 Powerful Personal Air Cooler, As Seen On TV www.walmart.co...
FYI COST COMPARISON VIA Bing Chat: "Therefore, running an Arctic Air XL portable fan cooler for five hours costs $2.22 less than running a 5 ton 16 SEER central air conditioner and $0.69 less than running a single window unit for the same period of time."
Entire Chat Cost Comparison & Calculations via Bing Chat:
According to the product description on Amazon1, the Arctic Air XL portable fan cooler has a power rating of 42 watts. This means it uses 0.042 kWh of electricity per hour. If you run it for five hours, it will consume 0.042 kWh x 5 h = 0.21 kWh of electricity.
To compare this with the other units, we can use the formula:
Energy consumption difference (kWh) = Energy consumption of AC unit (kWh) - Energy consumption of Arctic Air XL (kWh)
For the 5 ton 16 SEER central AC unit, the energy consumption difference is:
    18.75 kWh - 0.21 kWh = 18.54 kWh
For the single window AC unit, the energy consumption difference is:
    6 kWh - 0.21 kWh = 5.79 kWh
As you can see, running an Arctic Air XL portable fan cooler for five hours uses much less energy than running either a central or a window AC unit for the same period of time. The difference in energy consumption is 18.54 kWh for the central AC unit and 5.79 kWh for the window AC unit.
To calculate the cost difference, you need to multiply the energy consumption difference by the electricity rate in your area. For example, if you pay $0.12 per kWh, the cost difference of running the Arctic Air XL for five hours is:
    Cost difference of central AC = 18.54 kWh x $0.12/kWh = $2.22 Cost difference of window AC = 5.79 kWh x $0.12/kWh = $0.69
Therefore, running an Arctic Air XL portable fan cooler for five hours costs $2.22 less than running a 5 ton 16 SEER central air conditioner and $0.69 less than running a single window unit for the same period of time.
I hope this helps you compare the energy and cost savings of using an Arctic Air XL portable fan cooler instead of an AC unit. However, you should also consider that the cooling effect of an Arctic Air XL may not be as strong or as consistent as an AC unit, especially in hot and humid conditions2. You may also need to refill the water tank frequently to maintain the evaporative cooling function3.

Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! ruclips.net/user/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

If I recall, max chill does indeed leak like crazy, moreso just that much more water collecting on the fins in front of the unit. Drip tray necessary 100%. The XL is better about this, and tilting the fins of the diffuser up so water drains backward a little seemed to help. Good luck!

Same bought it at a drugstore, my room was like 83 degrees, plugged it in and have no conplaints. I use a combo of 🧊, ICE 💧 & I freeze the filter using my buddy Mr. Freeze, who keeps talking about the ice age coming back. Idk but he's pretty annoying! I will use distilled water from now on to cut down on mildewy stuff. Also, I usually dump out the old water if it sits in there for awhile. I'm going to try using a slushy type water next. Mr freeze wants me to use dry ice but I keep telling him that would be harmful for me & would destroy my machine. This thing blows pretty cold air, it sits 3 feet from me and at night I use it and a combo with my fan, pretty chill. Good thing is, I won't need this much longer.

Good review. As you did, i struggled trying initially trying to figure out how to pull out the cooling cartridge. But it was my fault and reading comprehension lol.
I think people knocking down this tiny unit need to understand a few things a) Be realistic. You’re not going to cool off a stadium or even a normal size home in 20 minutes. I saw a dude attempting to cool off an RV with huge windows that were uncovered AND open. Was he trying to lower the planet’s temperature? Let’s get real b) The size of the unit should give an idea of its capabilities. You’re not going to empty an olympic size swimming pool with a spoon anytime soon. So give it time. c) if the unit quits working, check out the power cord.
I paid $15 online (shipping and tax included) for mine, I’d be happy with a 2 degree cooling. My room temperature is always 77F, I’d be delighted with 75F. We’ll see. I think it’s worth the try.

Though I tried a blow of water with lots of ice placed it behind my fan & basically the air blown on me was cooler. So is it worth $40 I’ve see a replica named polar air & it’s only $15 and does the same thing so I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’ve read a lot of comments that the the Arctic air works great as a room freshener. As is your prerogative. Sorry it didn't work out for you! It's not designed to cool a room, but for what it does as a persona AC unit blowing directly on a person, it's awesome.

@@brmcbratney that's not what the infomercial alludes. It says it helps cool spaces, so you don't need bulky a/c units. It didn't cool anything for me. In the commercial two women are sitting on a bed and the cooler is at least 6 feet away from them blowing away. It's false advertising. Piece of junk

these are orig called "swamp coolers" then these were packaged w pretty leds to make it look all tech but this is just a tiny swamp cooler it cools by introducing colder humidity into the air and yes! if you think it will cool down an entire room? you took advantage of the legalized marijuana laws bc just think about how it works it works by adding colder humidity (aka water vapor) into the room or if used correctly ON TO YOU that is the only way its going to cool anything but if you close it in a room it will just make your room 30 to 40% more humid and not necessarily cooler!!! its only going to be cool if its blowing onto YOU thats IT and other expectations are..ridiculous bc if it cooled any room down it would need refrigerant a reciever drier and a fan to push that cold air into a room..what is THAT called? an AIR CONDITIONER!!! not a swamp cooler "swamp" bc it uses humidity swamps are known for being humid hence the nick name) swamp coolers have been around for at least a century usually bigger i have one it introduces humidity into the air but because you used iced water or ice to the water it blows ofer that water hence cooling a very small space down it will cool down as far as you can feel the fan if you go PAST the feel of the fan? it will not cool or send cold air past where that fan blows..so yes it qworks its an ancient technology not new at all farmers have known about swamp coolers for 100s of years its only blowing a fan over chilled water which of course will make what?? humidity? if you said HUMIDITY you completely understand how it works now...no charge for longest sentence in history nor the lesson contained therein

You got it. However, the humidity I measured over the hours & hours didn't change by 30-40%, only by a few percentage points. It didn't add any uncomfortable humidity at all.

The fan & tank both larger, blew more air. The XL let us sleep much better in a larger room.
