I just purchased the XL but haven't tried it yet, just came today. I have two Arctic Air Pure Chill units, and I love them. I have MS and can't tolerate heat, live in a one-bedroom apartment without air conditioning, and can't afford a portable AC. I freeze the filters, add ice, and use very cold water I keep in the fridge. I also run a few fans to circulate air and keep my blinds and windows closed on hot sunny days. Doing these things together cooled my apartment down enough to keep me comfortable with the unit sitting a few feet away from me. Now I can have the XL in my bedroom and the two smaller ones in my living room. It's definitely not like having an air conditioner, but paying out $160 instead of $500 - 800 is good enough for me. I also have a small dehumidifier that turns on if the humidity gets too high (placed well away from the AA units) which keeps it from getting sticky. Thanks for the video! I can't wait to see what they turn out next!
Can you inform the arctic chill company they should make the ice reservoir out of the same material similar to a yeti tumbler. That would make the ice last forever.I would not pay 80 bucks for the xl…. Maybe $55. Great video.
I live in Hawaii alone and have MS. Heat is debilitating sometimes, so I really like all of the features the Arctic Air XL has. The oscillating option is perfect. Unfortunately, I am going on my 4th Arctic Air XL. I paid $80 for the first one which Walmart replaced. Then at half the cost, I went thru Ebay for #3. I just called Customer service and they are happily replacing this one that died after 8 weeks. They all had different issues so there's not a warning to watch out for. I would be Really Happy if it lasted a lot longer than a couple of months! 😮❤
Don't get me wrong it's a cool design and a cool concept, the problem i have is it cost eighty dollars for something that's worth maybe twenty to forty dollars. The other problem i have is it didn't change the room temperature a single degree but in fact the room temperature went up so it doesn't actually cool anything it's just a glorified fan with a cool mist so unless you're standing directly in front of it it's basically useles.
I HAVE 2 ARTIC AIR 2.0 AND THEY WORK GREAT AND SAVES ON THE LIGHT BILL FOR COOLING . I POINT THE BLADES UPWARD TO RECYCLE THE WATER BACK ONTO THE CARTRIDGE . MADE MY BEDROOM AT 70 AND MY BATHROOM 65
Considering that you can buy a small window AC unit for $99-$120, no, I would not pay $80 for this item. However, if home break-ins are a risk, because of a window unit, then this might be an OK alternative. Albeit, nothing like an AC unit. (Growing up we only had room fans. So, on very hot sleepless nights, we'd soak a T-shirt in cold water, wring it out & wear it to bed. Works very well.)
Hi Jeff I just received my Pure Chill XL today and when I first turned it on, I went OH MY. This fan is so much stronger than the 2.0. The misters are much higher quality and they spray much more water than the 2.0. I love this fan. 5 stars from me!
I was a lil skeptical about this product because all the other mini air conditioner had all bad reviews. But after reading all the good comments, I will be getting this next week for my bedroom.
I got this same unit at Walmart the other day on clearance for 20 bucks. I had a different fan in my hand and then noticed the $80 original price. Snatched that bad boy up. I'm a hot sleeper and it's doing great on low so far next to the bed. I had the neck fan from them first. I thought it would be open and broken like a return but nope. Nice review. Summed up my issues with it. I live in a cold climate and somebody in this house likes to crank the heat. 😆 Everything works better when it's cooler. Sleep for sure.
what we all seem to miss is that' this unit is NOT for cooling down an entire room, but rather a personal AC for one person. I've seen the original videos, and have read the original reason for the AC. It was designedfor only one person to keep a small amount of space on their desk cool , so looking through your monitor as you work would be one way to use the AC; NOT the entire room. If you want to cool down an entire room then you should invest in a good AC unit....
This thing is perfect for an office. My office is too warm for me and I don't work well in a warm office. So I thought I would give this a try - I didn't think it would work but I needed to try something. I am shocked how well this works. The air that comes out of mine is ice freaking cold and I just use room temperature water in it. On mine, even frosty air comes out that you can see. I was just hoping it would cool me down a little if I sat if 2 feet from me on my desk but it freezes my entire office. It probably helps I am in Southern Arizona so the humid air coming out is actually a blessing, and maybe the dry air here super evaporates it or something. Or maybe mine is just a fluke, but all I know is it works for me.
This is a great product ! I thought this is a piece of junk , but I'm really surprised how good this works! I bet they are selling millions of these things !
I just purchased this one at Walmart today, yes at the same basic price, I seen this about 3 weeks ago in the Harriet Carter Magazine and I ordered it online, but they Put it on back order so I cancelled it. I was disappointed that I wasn't going to get it and went to the store to purchase The Artic Air Pure Chill 2.0; and this one was stack right next to it, I was happy. I've purchased pretty much all of these devices, and yes, it is worth the price, being a hot natured person, anything above 70 degrees, I'm being tortured at any time inside or outside, year around and then to top it all off I live in Texas where the tempter reached close to 100 degrees in some parts yesterday so yes to ME it is worth 80 dollars, they are helpful to me. I'm about to unbox mines now thanks again for the review.
Looking for inexpensive unit to cool my bedroom. This works pretty good. I have a fan on opposite side to circulate the air. Add ice every so often. Of course, doesn't getl as cold as a regular AC unit, but I knew that purchasing. Glad I skipped the original ($39) and bought this one ($79.)
Thank you for sharing. I bought one at Walmart for $60. Haven't used it yet. I live in Florida and basically bought it in case a hurricane or storm causes a power outage and can use to be able to sleep through the night.
Thanks for testing it with a room thermometer. So it makes your room wetter but doesn't lower the temperature at all. Makes sense, because all it's really doing is moving water from a small reservoir into the air around you. It can make your skin FEEL cooler if it blows directly on you, but the temperature is not actually changed. Your sweat does the same thing. It's a sweat machine, lol.
bing bing bing! we got a winner i got to say youre the only guy ive read that understands what these do..why are people so stupid?? they want it to be an ac unit for 30 40 bucks...lol
I got it at Walmart and liked all the features .. but wife said take it back because the fan noice was hurting her ears .. not like the little machine we had already .. so it has a turbine ..not a fan at all .. but it did make a high pitched grating sound…took it back .
Hey Jeff I recently (bought) a chill zone XL now right up against the louvers its cool right at the misters but as you go up the air gets warmer. I don't no if you are a spokesperson or paid for you services but to me if this company put 5 to 7 more misters on it I think they might finally have a real working air cooler. Also it's really not a mini swamp cooler because they don't have water dripping down the cooling cartridge now if they could add a mini water pump to provide water to drip down that cartridge then that might help. Maybe you can pass this info along to the manufacturer
I have a classic arctic air. The one that used the paper filter, and I found that it is the coolest one I own. Although the paper filter gets dirtier easier, and I wish that it could go faster. But, the temperature of the cool air coming out is always the same.its probably because of how many pieces of soaked paper the air has to travel through. I also love how most air coolers are USB powered, which means that you can attach a cell phone battery to it and basically have a portable air cooler.
I got the cool chill from Ollies for $16 and took the filter cartridge soak it in cool or cold water and fill the reservoir with purifieried water only and put the whole box in the freezer on the job for 6 six hours or more and ran it off by a battery car jumper pre cooled the car for 10 minutes turned the car off and cooled myself off with it. I found myself not turning the car back on for a long time and I saved a lot of fuel cost and engine wear from doing this. And when It did get warmer just alittle but as it did, the ice in the reservoir turned into pure cold ice water and purifieried the pre frozen filter cartridge and cooled me off. I leave it on the job in the freezer until the next use. And yes it does work after taking out the whole unit from the freezer. And even the lights. My brand was different but it reasonably work during the night You just gotta know how to use it. Is it perfect? No but they were more delay times from me turning the car back on
I love the 2.0 ! I use it in Phoenix during the summer next to me by the bed so that it acts as a cold air humidifier… I also have it on my workstation…our humidity level is at time 6% which can cause noose bleed , dryness in your sinuses, eyes and throat. Having this within 6 feet of your head is perfect for keeping the humidity level at a healthy level…especially when you sleep at night. It’s definitely not a room air conditioner….we all have central air conditioning but the problem with that is central air con contributes to the dryness in the air as well….if you live in the southwest…this is a must for breathing nice cool humid air in your personal work or rest place…👍 definitely worth the $40 for the chill 2.
Thanks for doing this. I saw that on Walmart last weekend and was tempted to get it because I need one for my dog, however, I know that arctic air products are usually junk, so I passed. I believe I did a good decision!
I love my Arctic Air Pure Chill XL! I've had it for a few weeks now. I had a problem where it would not turn on for a day or two, but it fixed itself I guess. I'm impressed by the amount of cold, not cool, air it can move. I think it helps that I live in northern Colorado, freeze the filter, and add ice cubes to the water tank before running. I'm sure a lot of people saying the units don't work live in humid areas.
@@mikemoney3122 yeah its 🗑 trash! I've had mine for about 3 weeks and it's doin the same thing. Turning on and off! The light flickers and it turns off about 10secs after. Idk bout anyone else but i want my $79 back!!!!
I got it because my bedroom is in the attic and our windows can't support a standard AC unit ~ I got it on clearance at Walmart for 15$ I don't think I would've bought it at 80$. For 15$, the price I got it at I think it's worth it but for 80$ a standard window fan would be easier and work just as well if not better. This is definitely something better for camping then every day use 😢
I'm guessing these are based on peltier cubes as they are the most popular thermoelectric cooling, and provide similar cooling, it doesn't help a ton unless you add heat pipes and tubing, so I"m also taking a guesstimate that the water in the chamber is specifically cooling the thermo electric element, which basically means that changing the water past room temp isn't going to really change anything anyway. from using the 2.0 for just a few days, I noticed it doesn't make much cooler air than the room already has, but in a small office space, say, 5x5 or maybe up to a 7x7 cube, you can get some really cool air. My bedroom is only 8x13 but I didn't get these to cool the room, I got them to test pushing cool air into my pc, and it does drop the temps a little, maybe 5 degrees F, which is not that crazy because the exhaust from the pc is still around 100 F, but considering it was 105, I guess it sort of worked... I'm going to grab a larger cooler and see if that even makes a difference in cooling since these don't really seem to do much.
i just got one and i just dont understand why they didnt put sprayers pointed out twards the cartridge ... unless you pre soak the cartridge only the first two strips get water on them enough to cool and evaporate ... decent design but flawed execution i have a old artic air that the motor broke so i set that one with in front of the xl and it pushes out REALLY cold air
Man I can’t turn my unit on? What the heck? How did you turn it on, I hit the fan emblem, but nothing. I’ve reached out to customer support and nothing. Looks like I got scammed buying this piece of junk at a Marshall’s for $40.
I live in my van and it's been so hot here that my solar batteries are not keeping up with my fan and electronics and thinking of buying the 2.0 version at Home Depot tomorrow. I need it right on my face because I work on the computer looking at a monitor for hours so I hope it gives me so cooling mist.
I just bought 4 of these at my local WalMart in clearance for 15 a piece, a few of my Co Workers have these in their office and swear by them, plan on using the other three as emergency XMas gifts or dirty Santa party presents
My opinion is that this is just like any other fan...that being said, when used in conjunction with AC it can be very cool. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
@@Jeffreviews4u this is Sara corbello I'm going try arctic air fan but I have go fan it's lasting me whole month so I'm probably stick with that and it's little where I can carry with me but thanks for me I'm thinking about arctic air is it worth buying
They are very similar. In my opinion the fan in the XL is an upgrade, the XL also has a larger reservoir, and of course the oscillating feature is beneficial...all thatcfir twice the price. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
$80? im going to say no... At that price, you're starting to enter good personal "cooling vest" territory that'll do a better job cooling you down if you need it. Maybe if the water tank was insulated like what Yeti or "Coldest Water" does with their bottles, the ice could last much longer .. Maybe then it would be worth $80.. (Cant be too hard to make such a tank... The Coldest Water company has insulated dog bowls... shouldn't be to hard to make a smaller square(ish) tank from that process).
I decided to purchase this one because it mentioned under the paackage that it requires 120 volts and uses only 20 watts which is in my estimate pretty good with a power converter when AC is not availlable during a power outage. Still, I was concerned about the misting action as I was hoping the mist would coat yhe heavy felt grill to keep it wet. But on further instruction I was curious why it does not recirculate over the cooling cartridge? You were the only you tuber which gave a good review review to put this product through the paces. Makes me more inclined to run mine. But the misting might be a problem finding a place I dont want to get wet or placing a cut piece of Shamwow near the misters to recapture the spray to transfer it back into the water tank.
How about the water 💦 only to put and how longer does it work to keep cool around 72 f ? I need to get one for my rig if it works at least 7-10 hours that would be great.
I was looking into buying a portable a/c. I can't afford to buy a floor model. That's what I'm allowed in my apartment because of the way windows are. So idk what to get. tfs #GOBILLS
I bought 2 yesterday Im gonna take the back they did not cool the airy fan with an ice bowl behind it works way better don't buy them I guess I'll install my air conditioners
$87 @ WalMart incl tax. Soaked, froze filter. Filled reservoir plus ice. Max speed/turbo....2 feet away could feel a little breeze, sl coolong. Further away...nada. Live in camper and closed off bedroom front and back so area is 8 x 12....96 square feet x 6'2" ceiling...roughly 700 cubic feet. Not even close to cooling....ran 4 hours on 2 fillings of reservoir. Ive lived w swamp coolers before in desert...with excellent cooling. All the cooling with this is the frozen filter and ice....its not truly an evaporative cooler IMO and its going back to WM later today.
If it's plugged in, with power, and not turning on...sounds like you have a dud. Hopefully you can return or exchange it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
I just purchased one and I don’t think it puts out any cool air just a little mist in truth I’m sorry that I got it I also have one of those little ones and I couldn’t ask for any better the big one is more like just a table top fan nothing better
@@Jeffreviews4u oh darn. I just bought this not even realizing there were two different sizes and just saw the reviews on Walmart and now your video. No way I would purchase this or get this this is the same thing as using air conditioner you still have to plug it in and it still taking electricity so if this was battery operated it'd be better and also does these things really keep the room cool for hours?
Can't believe you spent $80 on one of these. I paid $31 for one on eBay and it's a worthless piece of junk. I did my own test I took a $10 fan I got at Walmart put a bowl of ice cubes in front of it and it did way better.
Meh!!! MEH!!! MeH Mehhhhhh! Not worth it, another hoax product. I tried the pure chill from 2021 myself and even with the coldest prep of the device it still didn’t help much. Thanks Jeff for proving its not really a good product to buy
The reviews for this thing are so bad. I really wanted to buy one, as it sounds cool. But after reading hundreds of negative reviews.... does not sound worth $20, let alone $80+
First of all this review is crap you need to freeze the filter when wet and put ice in it with half fill water and it will absolutely cool and 15x20 bedroom this is an ok review not very good!!! Just downgrading good products my window is too small to fit an ac and its 95 out today and very humid in pa and this works wonderfully i would absolutely recommend
Start watching from 8:04, that's when I test it with a frozen filter and ice. I started with just regular water first as a comparison of the difference in temperature. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🙂
An AC is definitely the way to go if you're allowed to have them. Some HOAs or housing units do not allow window units. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍

from using the 2.0 for just a few days, I noticed it doesn't make much cooler air than the room already has, but in a small office space, say, 5x5 or maybe up to a 7x7 cube, you can get some really cool air.
Does your 2.0 build condensation and form a puddle underneath?
Could you compare the Arctic Air XL vs the Arctic Air Tower? Would really like to know which one is better and worth it? Thanks!
What would you recommend if it's hot and humid?
Man I can’t turn my unit on? What the heck? How did you turn it on, I hit the fan emblem, but nothing. I’ve reached out to customer support and nothing. Looks like I got scammed buying this piece of junk at a Marshall’s for $40.
Same thing happened to me. But I was able to use the xl once before it stopped working!
The quality of the materials makes the 2.0 worth about $15, or $20 for the job. The chil xl would be worth around $30
Very thankful I found this video & the neck 1 before foolishly wasting $! 👍 TY
Glad you found it too! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🙂 👍
will it work better with liquid nitrogen instead of water ?
I live in my van and it's been so hot here that my solar batteries are not keeping up with my fan and electronics and thinking of buying the 2.0 version at Home Depot tomorrow. I need it right on my face because I work on the computer looking at a monitor for hours so I hope it gives me so cooling mist.
Are you still living in your van??
What if you set a fan in front of it? I just picked up 2 of these at Walmart clearanced for $14 so I thought it was worth the try
You may get a little cooling across the room, but for a limited time. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
I just bought 4 of these at my local WalMart in clearance for 15 a piece, a few of my Co Workers have these in their office and swear by them, plan on using the other three as emergency XMas gifts or dirty Santa party presents
Just bought one from walmart for $80. It doesnt even turn on. Going to return 🤦🏾♂️
Same here, I'm pissed.
Just bought XL today used it and it shut off on me won't turn back on.???? WTH has this happened to anyone?
The misters are barely working on mine. They worked great the first time I used it, now they barely spit anything out.
Out of all the arctic air mini coolers is this model the one you would recommend
This is Sara corbello is it worth buying I had two my foldaway fan I had get my money back so I want to know if arctic air fan is worth buying
Great video Jeff!
Does the Pure Chill XL produce cooler air than the Pure Chill 2.0 or are they the same?
They are very similar. In my opinion the fan in the XL is an upgrade, the XL also has a larger reservoir, and of course the oscillating feature is beneficial...all thatcfir twice the price. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
@@Jeffreviews4u
I was going to buy one of these so that’s why I was asking. Thanks Jeff.
@@PlaneSpotterRVer314 happy to help. If you get one, let us know what you think.
@@Jeffreviews4u
I will
@@Jeffreviews4u can you elaborate why Google, Amazon and Walmart give such bad reviews??? I really wanted to buy one.. but the reviews are frightening
How do you clean it? It doesn't come apart like the other one and now there's white stuff floating in the water tank
It is not worth $80 but it's not bad when you catch it on sale for $15.
Wow, $15 is a great deal. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
Not a problem, I got one from my son. .love it
Very cool. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
I've got the 2.0 and I love it. I would love to try the xl. u tried the artic air tower. which is better the tower or the pure chill xl?
Tower sucked and I love the Arctic airs
$80? im going to say no...
Did the UB plug in changed or does it still gets hot something you didn't mentioned at all !!! SMH
The plug on the XL didn't get hot during my test. The plug on the 2.0 did. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
Just got ours Wed. It was fine for a while but then keeps shutting off. Going to call the 877 number.
I just got the XL on clearance at Walmart for $15
I decided to purchase this one because it mentioned under the paackage that it requires 120 volts and uses only 20 watts which is in my estimate pretty good with a power converter when AC is not availlable during a power outage.
Are you happy with your purchase?
Jeff could you review the new arctic air outdoor as well the new arctic grip go too
Love your videos man. Have you ever thought about doing a top 10 of your favorite products?
Does pure chill xl spit out water like other desk ac?
For it to cool down a room the room can’t be too big like the room you testing in and the windows have to be open
I'd be curious what the temp was in the opposite part of the room farthest from fan.
Although I didn't test the across the room temperature, I was sweating a bit in the room during the test. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
How about the water 💦 only to put and how longer does it work to keep cool around 72 f ?
I need to get one for my rig if it works at least 7-10 hours that would be great.
How much wattage does it use?
I can’t find the review video of the chill well that you just posted
There was a glitch in the initial upload. It is being uploaded again and should post shortly.
@@Jeffreviews4u
Ok. Is it better than the Artic Air?
@@PlaneSpotterRVer314 here's the new link: ruclips.net/video/G36wTf9jVZc/видео.html
Have you done a review on the arctic air tower 2.0
I have a Ultra...1 meter than warm air..kapputski
I was looking into buying a portable a/c. I can't afford to buy a floor model. That's what I'm allowed in my apartment because of the way windows are. So idk what to get. tfs
#GOBILLS
The xl I purchased also $80 but it looks different
And its in a room which sits at 72 degrees!!! Thats not hot that is a cool temperature try it in a bedroom which it will be used in at 80 90 degrees
What’s the decibel level?
I bought 2 yesterday Im gonna take the back they did not cool the airy fan with an ice bowl behind it works way better don't buy them I guess I'll install my air conditioners
Im guessing this was made in China for $10 and sold at a $70 matkup
Always.
Ok then JT buy a ticket to China buy all the parts in China build it and fly back cmon man go

15$ Walmart clearance last October 🎉
Hey mines is not turning on
Mine neither. China always sends the U.S. junk upon junk. I'm tired of it.
I just bought one today!
$80 clucking dollars for that? You can get a cheap window unit for $100!
Seriously. A cheap AC unit would work a lot better. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍

I just purchased one and I don’t think it puts out any cool air just a little mist in truth I’m sorry that I got it I also have one of those little ones and I couldn’t ask for any better the big one is more like just a table top fan nothing better
Thanks Jeff! Convinced me not to buy 👍
Glad I could help! Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
@@Jeffreviews4u oh darn. I just bought this not even realizing there were two different sizes and just saw the reviews on Walmart and now your video. Just when I thought I actually got something accomplished today... now I have to return it. Thanks for the heads up though- atleast I know now just to return it.
How loud is this fan?
It’s somewhat loud
If you’re gonna spend this much why not get a 5000 btu ac fir 50 dollars more? Foolish
Especially since these are useless swamp coolers and nothing compared to proper air conditioning.
That's the point of the video Sherlock
Add salt to the ice it will make the water more colder
do not do this, the salt will build up in your pump, inside the shell, and in the cooling fins
Has stop cooling
Thanks for sharing!
No way I would purchase this or get this this is the same thing as using air conditioner you still have to plug it in and it still taking electricity so if this was battery operated it'd be better and also does these things really keep the room cool for hours?
People are looking for them for power outage- the people who can't afford a generator right now.
Not worth $80, I’m glad I watched this review before I bought it
Can't believe you spent $80 on one of these. I paid $31 for one on eBay and it's a worthless piece of junk. I did my own test I took a $10 fan I got at Walmart put a bowl of ice cubes in front of it and it did way better.
wtf is the point .. its not cooling the room ? lol! i dont understand what its use is for? do you sit in front of it at a desk or something
No i wouldn't cause it's just a swamp cooler and would be useless in Saint Louis with the humidity.
You sound like Hulk Hogan 😃
Meh!!! MEH!!! MeH Mehhhhhh! Not worth it, another hoax product. I tried the pure chill from 2021 myself and even with the coldest prep of the device it still didn’t help much. Thanks Jeff for proving its not really a good product to buy
80 bucks? nfw! 30? MAYBE
The reviews for this thing are so bad. I really wanted to buy one, as it sounds cool. But after reading hundreds of negative reviews.... does not sound worth $20, let alone $80+
There 100 different of the same..chillers.
Why would you spend your hard earned money on what is essentially junk? Just wondering.
Alas that problem is as old as mankind.
An Emerson 5000 btu is $59 dollars online with free shipping. Why would anyone need to keep adding ice and barbaric way of doing it?
An AC is definitely the way to go if you're allowed to have them. Some HOAs or housing units do not allow window units. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
@Ron Crate Where online did you find an Emerson 5000 btu for $59? My central heat and air went out and I need something to get me by until I can get my unit looked at
We are RVers and sometimes we are without power and can't run the generator at night. In that case the 2.0 seems to fit bill.
This thing sucks. Waste of money, period.
XL= xtra large piece of crap
Lol. That's one way of saying it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 👍
