    I have always thought that picture thing was going too far but just couldn't tell whether right or wrong especially for passports. Thanks for clearing the air on that.

      Yes, there is no need for a picture or passport photo, except if the Company you are applying for specifically requests for it. 🙂

    It appears the CV standard acceptable in Canada isn't different from what one will expect locally, in Nigeria. It's also not too different from what I heard about the UK standard. It then seems like there is one acceptable CV standard globally. Maybe the use of ATS as unified the acceptability of CVs sha.
    In all, you did so well and I can assure you that your videos save lives.

    • @SmallTalkWithFaith
      @SmallTalkWithFaith  3 года назад

      Well, you make a good point. I think one of the major differences is in the standard length of the resume and this may be steming from the fact that in Nigeria, we use CVs, for the most part, while in Canada, Resumes are the standard and Resumes are typically a more abridged version of a CV. Other differences are more around the dos and don'ts which Recruiters in Nigeria may not be fussy about but in Canada, it's pretty standard. Although, just like you said, I believe the gap is now closing and you are absolutely right, the ATS system may be contributing to this. Thank you for the feedback, it is appreciated 🙂

      What is the ATS system please ?

    • @SmallTalkWithFaith
      @SmallTalkWithFaith  3 года назад

      @@hananelahreche6872 Applicant Tracking System. It's what most recruiters use in screening out resumes and narrowing them down to a few that are a match with the posted job AD. The ATS takes the load of recruiters and helps with first level screening.🙂

    Not all previous employers are angels in canada. Some of them are really not good and make even harrasssmnet to their employees. What to do in this case if we had only one job in canada and then only one reference. Can we give reference of our colleague and not manager ?
    PS : I used to work extra hours and I have never been paid for that. The day I asked for it or to to take more days off for those extra hours, big war started with the employer!
    So what to do for the reference. ?

    • @SmallTalkWithFaith
      @SmallTalkWithFaith  Год назад

      I’m so sorry you had to experience that. The answer to your question is…. it depends! Some employers are very particular about requesting for references from your previous managers. In such cases, it makes it hard for you to use a colleague. Hopefully you get an employer who is not so keen on this. All the best! 😊

    A quick question, please. the company I am working with here is affiliated with a well-known company across the globe as we are the sole representative in our continent but the name of my company is not well pronounced in Canada. Can I state on my resume that I work for this global company or how do I relate it together?

    What if work experience from home country doesn't match with HR job. Will those be included though?

    • @SmallTalkWithFaith
      @SmallTalkWithFaith  3 года назад

      You should include all of your work experience, it doesn't matter if it doesn't match with the HR job you're applying for. If that's what you have, that's what you'll put in your resume. Whether you will get the HR job is a separate issue entirely.😊

    Hello faith.
    I am in ghana and wants to relocate.
    I have started applying for some jobs.
    Is my gh address fine ?

    • @SmallTalkWithFaith
      @SmallTalkWithFaith  2 года назад

      If you're still in Ghana and you're applying for jobs from there, I believe you will be applying for jobs that accept candidates who are based outside Canada. In that case, you can use your address in Ghana since the employer is aware that you are not based in Canada. Remember, the full address is not necessary, just the city and country is fine.

    Please for us applying outside Canada, do we put or country phone no, address? or use a Canadian address and phone no. also about the name ,what if the preferred name you want to use for your resume is not your full legal name , will the application still go through?

    • @SmallTalkWithFaith
      @SmallTalkWithFaith  2 года назад

      It depends on what you are applying for. If you're applying for a job within a program that is targeted at international canadidates, then it makes sense to use your local details and phone number. This is because the employer is already aware that you are outside Canada. So, it really depends! For the preferred name, that's standard. Feel free to use a preferred name if you wish, even though it's different from the legal name. At the point of hire and document submission, you can submit your documents with your legal name.
