An HR professional here! It is crazy how there is the old HR and the new HR. The old HR is outdated and people who dont treat people equally. The new HR understand that we work for the company but here to protect the employee as well! I have been a victim of missing raises because I want to make sure everyone is being treated the same and the CEO, VP, and president are not always right! The new HR will continue thriving!!!

Depends...after 11 years in HR and varying positions and industries, I've realized that it totally depends. Issues vary so sometimes HR has to make the decision, but best practice would be that HR gives recommendations, not decisions.
