Hi TRC-ers a few of you eagle eyes Hoka runners have pointed out that the Mach X has a different kind of plate than a carbon one. Apologies for the mistake James should have said during the section that while it might not be carbon it’s the plated shoe that still takes that crown 👑
I brought ASICS Novablast 3 back in late May and between the end of April and beginning of August I ran a 5k,10k,half marathon, full marathon,24hr ultra and a 100 miler in them and they still have some bound in them.I won't be buying any other shoe.Absolutely love them.
good to know! i actually bought those yesterday! well, Novablast 4. the guy at the running shoe store had nothing but great things to say about them. and i've been buy from this place for 20 plus years! i am surprised that i haven't seen any popular reviews on them...
Like from Spain. My votes goes to: Long Distance- Saucony triumph 20. Daily trainer-Hoka mach5. Race day: Asics magic speed3. A nice monday for everyone.
Speed 3's are currently my favorite shoe I've ever run in. Got about 600 miles out of my last pair and it was my first pair I ran a road marathon in. I run in the wide version, and the only downside is the limited colors.
The only downside with the Saucony Speed 3 is some runners have experienced heel rubbing and blisters because there's not a lot of cushioning round the ankle collar. I had this problem, but wearing two pairs of thin socks seemed to solve it.
Great video. Thank you. As someone who buys LOTS of shoes, this video was a treat to watch. I didn't quite agree with many points said and it seemed the shoes were only tested by perhaps 1-3 presenters max. Still, a fun video to watch.
Heading over to USA soon from Australia so keen to look out for sale shoes. This video helped as I can narrow down what to look for. I love my Glycerin GTS shoes but keen to get me a faster shoe. As always great work
Glad to see the Nimbus 25s getting some love. They are by far the comfiest daily shoe I've ever had. I'm fully sold on getting the superblast to try out
I love my new balance 1080 v13s!! Pretty cool that they’re Andy’s fav daily trainer :O If you want a cushioned shoe and ASICS feel too narrow on your toes - give the 1080s a try :)
What a really helpful video. I've been running in my Asics (gel contender 7) for about a year now. At the time they were pretty mid-range and still very comfortable but definitely in the market to spread the wear, by picking up a pair for my longer runs and this video has been great for that. Looks like I'll be picking up some Superblasts as the Asics I've got have been super comfortable and reliable. Thanks again, hope you're all well.
Hi TRC-ers a few of you eagle eyes Hoka runners have pointed out that the Mach X has a different kind of plate than a carbon one. Apologies for the mistake James should have said during the section that while it might not be carbon it’s the plated shoe that still takes that crown 👑
I've just picked up the Saucony Triumph 20's on sale for £72! Going to be using them for marathon training and find them to be really comfortable and surprisingly quick if needed.
I love my Brooks Ghost. I have two pairs. One pair has over 1,000 miles and still going strong; however, I did decide to replace them just because, well 1,000 miles on one pair of shoes, but they still look and feel great. So, I just wear them as walking shoes.
Um, I just got a pair of Glycerin’s and now I am in love with these shoes. I found them on clearance for $90. After I tried them on in the store, I basically would not let them go until I got them in the car. I even asked the store if they had any more in my size, and they said I got the last pair. I did a 7 mile run in them this morning. I just love the feel of the shoe. Tomorrow I will run in my Ghosts, but I can’t wait to run in the Glycerins again.
I know it can be seen as a little bit niche, but nothing that would fall under the minimalist side of things? Without going all the way to the Vibram fivefingers (which I love), xero has a nice offer
I’m on my second pair of Saucony Triumph 20. I was recommended supportive shoes, but ever since I switched to the triumph 20, no injuries anymore. Ran my first marathon in them and love them still 🏃🏼♀️
I agree on the saucony triumph 20 being a great shoe. Ran two half-marathons in them as well as did my long runs. No injuries or blisters. And it really offers a lot of support on the legs such that you don’t experience that much fatigue after a long run. ☺️
Awesome review guys. I do agree with Nimbus 25. I have clocked up almost 600 kms on it already in the last 7 months. Time for a new pair but this time will try the ForeverRun. 😁
Such a good video - both me and my girlfriend have watched so many videos on your channel about different running shoes. We both picked up Hoka Carbon X 3 recently and absolutely love them so was interesting to see other Hokas that you featured. I wore adidas for years and years but now rotate between Hoka, Asics and Adidas. Keep up the good work guys
Great video! But as a wide-footed, arthritic big toe-knuckled, runner, I can hardly get half of these on my feet! 'Used to be a big Altra fan, but their shoes are losing the original toe box sizing. So for me this year, it's the New Balance More v4 (in bonkers wide sizing). X
I really liked the design of the Nimbus 25 Aquarium.. But unfortunately I was not able to get them in my country anymore.. So luckily theres an alternative which is almost just as cool. The Novablast 3 Colour injection. My rotation is: Nimbus Novablast 3 Magic Speed 3 Love the Asics shoes.
Untill recently I've always had one pair of running shoes at a time and always Brooks because they've never let me down and until recently kept me injury free. I my current PRs in the 10 (41 something) HM (1:34) and Marathon were all run in Brooks Glycerin 20 GTS. I recently picked up some Brooks Hyperion Tempos. Ive never own a fast shoe before so im looking forward to training for and potentially running a HM in them and a new pair of Glycerin 21 GTS (and hopefully in sub 1:30).
Oooh, right on time for me, started running regularly only recently and all the terminology is soooo confusing! The daily runner section was just what I needed :)
A zero drop section would be nice, I get they are a smaller part of the market share which is why they won't make any of the categories but there are some great ones. Saying that, I think I will start branching out to some low drop when I have enough money to get a bit of a shoe rotation going. Interesting video, I love the retro look of the tracksmiths but can't justify £200 right now xD
You can't beat Reebok for value. I got the Floatride Energy 5's for my everyday, Floatride Adventure for trail runs and Floatride X for road races all for £160
As someone who went through two pairs of Cloudsurfer 6s I hate where they were going with the new cloudsurfer I understand that they need to appeal to a wider audience but I never had a shoe that felt as responsive yet comfortable as the CS6. Actually bought a pair in reserve.
I use brooks hyperion max for fast training. saucony triumph 20 for long distances. for the trail I use Salomon sense ride 5 and brooks cascadia 16-17. Greetings from Serbia.
I have a pair of Brooks Ghost 14 as daily trainer, mild trail and trekking, also wear it around the city. Asics Noosa Tri 14 as speedy session shoe and Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 as my event shoe 😅.
I have 2 pairs of Glycerin 20s, one on 1000k the other on 500k. Neither are showing any real signs of wear and are just like slippers. I always go back to them for long or easy runs. Though I have other options for racing, they comfortably handle a tempo pace parkrun. Just something to pick up on they are quite different to the 19 with the nitrogen infused midsole, prior to the 20 the just absorbed, now they absorb and give back.
What about the best shoe for wet running? I think it's important to talk about grip onto a wet or slippery surface especially now for autumn/winter running
Annoyingly many manufacturers have stepped down from making good larger shoes recently. As having size EU49, I have ran for years on various Asics and Adidas. Unfortunately Adidas has lost the track between fashion and running shoes (not enough lacing loops to keep a much longer foot properly tight down). And Asics have made the recent iterations of the Nimbus (24 and 25) waaaaay to narrow in the little toe area. I have ran thousands of KMs and now for the first time I have blisters on my little toe. Regarding the size complaint, there are hardly any plated shoes above EU47/48. Still having good results with Asics Noosa tri and will unbox the Novablast 3 soon since we hopefully will have some drier weather soon. Anyone at TRC facing this joy of being well contacted to the ground with large feet?
All rounder would be able to take you from the easy runs all the way to race day but might not excel at all of them. The daily trainer is the shoe that you’d use for those easy runs the mid to long runs and every day life too
I managed to get a hold of one of the last pairs of the Kiprun KD900, as it was discontinued. It's an amazing shoe for speed sessions and races. Managed to get a PB in 5k and 10k with them. Unfortunately, the new version doesn't look as nice.
Earlier this year in March I was trying on a pair of Ascis when ALL of a sudden I heard this moaning behind me. As I turned around it was my buddy who is a retired MMA fighter. He said that it felt like he was walking on the moon while trying on the Gel Nimbus 25. At that moment I switched my vote 🗳️ to the Gel Nimbus.
Well, I've been looking for a stability shoe because I overpronate a lot, especially right leg. I was going for Gel Kayano 30, but now looks like I've found my stability shoe - Puma ForeverRun Nitro 🎉. Thanks for this awesome video. Very informative.
One shoe which I think is often overlooked is the Under Armour HOVR Sonic 5’s or 6’s. These are a great everyday shoe for both slower and quicker sessions
Could someone help me? I have tried Nimbus 25 and Pegasus 39, but both of them hurt my feet, it seems like they're a little bit too narrow, but I am not entirely sure why is that happening. The only shoes that was ok for my feet was the Kiprun KS 500 so far. Could you please recommend me something?
Of course we can help! Maybe have a look at a brand called Altra who make wider shoes shaped like your foot. Or take a look at the wide foot editions that other brands like Brooks and Hoka make
@@runningchannel I wish to buy a Max Cushion Shoe for 5 Miles of daily Brisk walking and had shortlisted 1080V13, Invincible 3 and Gel Nimbus 25/26. However, since Invincible 3 was not on your list, I got confused. May I request you to advise which one would be your choice ? Some experts on other highly regarded channels have also listed Brooks Ghost Max as the best walking shoe adding to the confusion. Please advise. Thank you.
This video should come with a disclaimer…. I watched it yesterday, couldn’t stop thinking about new running shoes…. 6am today…. add to basket, bought. 😆
Should you be using a carbon shoe as an all rounder? I'm sure you've said loads of times that wearing a carbon plated shoe isn't ideal for everyday running all the time ie. only having 1 pair in rotation
Hooka just don’t hold up to heavy runners. I ran through all the rubber (literally into the foam) on my Hooka Kowana’s in 54.6 miles. My Altra Via Olympus are at 300 and I feel confident they will make it to 400.
"Im painfully middle class" has to be the most British sentence I've ever heard. That being said, the "Eliot's" are fresh, definitely going to pick a pair of these up!
Absolutely devoted to my asics, colors, comfort and style. I've got one pair of Nike with the moisture shield for wet runs but otherwise, asics all the way
I have a question for TRC or perhaps the community in here can help 🤔 How long before a race would you recommend to start breaking in your race shoes? I’m doing a 10K race on Sunday and will receive my new pair of New Balance RC Elite tomorrow. Would 1 or 2 runs prior be enough? 😅
I always like to do a couple of short runs (5k or so) before I use new shoes on a 10K or longer. Personally, I think you'll be fine with a couple of runs - will give you time to make sure they're comfy, no pinch points etc.
Hi TRC-ers a few of you eagle eyes Hoka runners have pointed out that the Mach X has a different kind of plate than a carbon one. Apologies for the mistake James should have said during the section that while it might not be carbon it’s the plated shoe that still takes that crown 👑

My personal shoe of the year (I'm a very average runner) is the Adidas Boston 12. I've tried many shoes, but these just do it all for me.
I'm a Puma convert - my whole rotation now consists of the Puma range and oddly enough the one that I haven't tried yet is the Forever Run 😄
We know what you’re going to be asking for Christmas then 😂😂
As someone who’s recently got some saucony speed 3s, I can agree they are absolutely amazing! Fully recommended
I ran through my Saucony Triumph 20s, and I just picked up Asics Gel Nimbus 25. I'm loving running in these.

Great review guys. Only thing is mach x isn’t a carbon plated shoe: the plate is pebax (nylon/plastic).
Mach 5 are my all time favorites ❤ never had a shoe feel so amazing out of the box
That’s such a great feeling isn’t it?!
Altra Lone Peak 6 for life. I have 12 pair of those. 2 in use. My fav of all!
I agree with the Brooks as an All Rounder. Great for their price and I never had to break them in. 🏃🏾♀️
That’s always a win isn’t it? Straight out the box and straight out running 🙌🏻
Im a big fan of the foreverun. I trained in and used mine for the Marathon Eryri. No sore ankles at the end due to the great support.
I agree with Jess! Wore the Magic Speed's for my first run to feel the shoe out and they inspired me to a 10km PB!!!
I love my new balance 1080 v13s!! Pretty cool that they’re Andy’s fav daily trainer :O If you want a cushioned shoe and ASICS feel too narrow on your toes - give the 1080s a try :)
They are super roomy aren't they?! Glad you like them always a great feeling when you find a pair you love 🙌🏻
I think the Mach X is so underrated, I use them for my long & tempo runs.

The Novablast 3 Colour injection.

Nimbus
Novablast 3
Magic Speed 3

Great! Let us know how you get on with them 🙌🏻
great video! Curious why no NIKE?
What about a minimalist category ?
I know they didn’t win any awards in this vid, but I got the mizuno wave rebellion pros in Feb and they’ve been sooo good for me!
What are ur thoughts on Saucony endorphin speed 3???
Andy loved them when he reviewed them, and if you wait till the end of the video you might find them mentioned... 🙌🏻
@@runningchannel I clicked on comment section thinking they each had one pick at the end sorry
No New Balance Rebel v3 on the list 😢I love mine, especially for running on the treadmill.
what's with the lack of Nike's ? is It that bad ?
Not bad at all they are amazing shoes! They were close to making the cut on a lot of categories with the Invincible, Vaporfly and others
I’m not a runner but I feel like I’d break an ankle on these platform shoes. The yellow clogs look like bananas with the curve,
I can't see a Tracksmith product without immediately thinking of the Serious Runner YT channel haha
Haha we know the feeling 😂
Asics superblast makes me super amped for my runs.
I think James would agree with you!
"Im painfully middle class" has to be the most British sentence I've ever heard. That being said, the "Eliot's" are fresh, definitely going to pick a pair of these up!
😂😂
Absolutely devoted to my asics, colors, comfort and style. I've got one pair of Nike with the moisture shield for wet runs but otherwise, asics all the way
Very nice!
no best trail category? alas! hope there will be a separate vid for that then!

There already is 😁 ruclips.net/video/SD2pIEEVboA/видео.html
I have a question for TRC or perhaps the community in here can help 🤔
How long before a race would you recommend to start breaking in your race shoes?
I’m doing a 10K race on Sunday and will receive my new pair of New Balance RC Elite tomorrow. Would 1 or 2 runs prior be enough? 😅
I always like to do a couple of short runs (5k or so) before I use new shoes on a 10K or longer. Personally, I think you'll be fine with a couple of runs - will give you time to make sure they're comfy, no pinch points etc.
@@sombrero_printmaking thanks for the advice 💪😊
So surprised you guys picked the Glycerin 20s over the Mach 5!
