I really loved Trust. The structure of it and the way the themes and information is kind of revealed through that structure all worked really well for me.
On Beauty is on my physical tbr. I’ve read and loved White Teeth and found NW just okay (though appreciated the more experimental forms she took there). I’ve tried to read On Beauty but it’s never been the right time it seems! You’re not alone in having not read In Cold Blood - it’s been on my TBR for years 😅
Trust is LIT, but is going to be a bit different from what you might expect. Best to go in not knowing very much though. Not as long as it looks and just super, super clever. Hope you enjoy!
I am currently reading “Trust” and absolutely enjoying it. I am A bit confused at this point as it seems one story is told from 4 different prospectives, but hope to got it at the end. Definately want to hear your thoughts on that, Charlotte 🥰
I read The Handmaid’s Tale in 1986. It blew my young mind at the time. I recently re-read Alias Grace ~ very good, and based on an actual event. I also really enjoyed the MaddAddam trilogy. I’ve read many of Atwood’s novels and short stories, and although I liked most, they haven’t all stuck with me. Though most people love The Blind Assassin, it is at the bottom of the pile for me.🤔 Thanks for another great video.
It is not fly season here as we have received about nine inches of snow in the past week. I have not read "In Cold Blood" but I love "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and I would like to read more of his work. I haven't read "Alias Grace" but I did enjoy the tv show. Up next on my own Books I Want To Read In 2024 list are "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker and "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy, neither of which I have read and I don't know why. Thank you as always Charlotte.
Enjoy the snow! 😍 I also enjoyed breakfast at Tiffany's. Good luck with the colour purple and the road, neither of those books worked for me personally!
On Beauty and In Cold Blood have been sitting on my shelves for far too long, I'd love to get to them this year. Oryx and Crake is my favourite of Atwoods. Trust is sitting on my library reserve list, hope to get to it this year. Oh I haven't read William Golding, that one sounds really good, especially since I had a bunch of ancestors who were transported to Australia as convicts. Sounds like a great bunch of 6 books. Happy Reading!
Butterflies and birds. I hard pass to anything else flying.😂 Scarborough, I've never heard of this one, and it sounds very interesting. Goodreads preview sample reads to my taste. Trust, I'm aware of, but I never thought to check it out until I this moment. I hope that you have plenty of fly swatters. Thanks😊
Trust is a weird one. I struggled through the first 3/4. I was about to DNF. Then it was redeemed by the last quarter. I’m not sure that’s enough of a incentive to slog through the book.
I don't think any of Zadie Smith's books have a 4+ rating, she seems to be very hit and miss with different people so will be interesting to see where you fall. I haven't read On Beauty but I did read The Fraud last year and thoroughly enjoyed it

Great to hear! Hope it works for me too!
I love In Cold Blood, it got me out of my post-degree reading slump back in 2016 and for that I will be forever grateful!
Ooo! High praise indeed! 😍

Awesome list!
I haven’t read any Zadie Smith either 😬
Really interested in how you get on with Golding, I also have t read anything by him since LOTF.

I also loved oryx and crake but not the sequel so much.

Ooo Scarborough I'd thoroughly recommend. I still remember reading that book and it was probably 1-2 years ago now.
what a great list of books! excited to hear your thoughts on Trust, I read it 2 weeks ago & it’s a new favourite, I was hooked throughout!👏📚✨
Oooo exciting!
I couldn't get past the violence in the first chapter of In Cold Blood

True, I also think that's not enough of an incentive to slog through. Especially with my dnfing rate! 😂

Yes, I personally think I may be in the miss category but you never know!
