I was at this concert at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. They finished the regular show (which I think Vickie said was a homecoming because they were from Santa Monica I believe) and then they told us that they were going to film a music video. They danced and lip synched through the song; it was fun. Always enjoyed these 4 ladies that could write and sing and rock their instruments.
I was at this concert as well. They totally rocked! We also stayed for the filming of the video after the concert. Now when I watch this video, I still look at the faces in the audience to see if I recognize anyone but no such luck. To this day, this is my favorite song from the Bangles!
It's telling how the video editor kept going back again, and again, and again (near the end) to Susanna Hoffs' face and her "come hither" glance that promised a wealth of earthly delights.

Killer track from the oh-so-underrated EVERYTHING album. It's a shame that this single wasn't really successful. Those days were the beginning of the end for this greatest female rock band.

The corporate managers were pushing them hard probably leading to anxieties (Steele) and self-focused (Hoffs) which alienated the group. But boy did they sound and look good! From this vid I think DP DOES have the best voice of the lot. Don’t get me wrong the “choir of Bangles” harmonizing is very strong on this song. I think there could be a lot of this type of introspective missives, sharing and communiques for all us shut-ins in the new age of virus pandemic.
I found my cassette tape version of "Everything" the other day. Yes, it's an underrated album - I think perhaps what makes it standout more, is from what I hear that producer allowed them to make the music they wanted to make unlike what happened with the previous album and especially the recording of "Walk Like an Egyptian".
There weren't any I can remember, and I am their age--my 60s. There were female lead singers or guitar but name any before the Bangles who could fill arenas?. The biggest mistake that was made with these gals, was to not let them be themselves and remain together.
Manager probably had hots for Hoffs (understandable) and made her the 'lead' . All four were talented but poorly handled in that regard.
They had to constantly push back from the material and image that the label wanted.
