I just bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. The first problem was with the power cord. I then could not do a firmware update that was recommended so they sent me a new power cord along with a new control board. They did the update for me. After installing the new control board I discovered that the food probe was not working so I'm waiting for that to come. I agree that their customer service is top notch and I'm very happy with the response and help that I've received to resolve these issues. I have never bought something new like this and had so many problems right out of the box. I've used it a few times and I really like it. I just smoked a brisket today for the first time and I experienced the temperature spikes twice over a period of nine hours. By the way the brisket was really really good.
I have had the same problems on the update as you. I could not hook into my home wifi. I tired over and over nope. I gave up on it. Everything else you are saying is what I have had happen as well. So your story is backing up my review to the letter. I dig that a lot. Not that you are having problems but that you have add credit to what I have said. I love this smoker once you get all the bugs worked out it is well made and does a very nice job of smoking food. The Customer service is top shelf good. I reached out to them as we are having a Major RUclips meet up now over 60 channel all RVing to see if they wanted to do some Marketing they turned me down and that is all good. I know Blaskstone is looking at coming to the event in Quartzsite Jan 16th -24th pot luck on the 23rd. it is free to join and all are welcome. Thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts on this. right on and for watching. Drew
I thought I had an issue with my firmware update and my food probe. Called customer service and they helped me troubleshoot. Had to move my grill closer to the WiFi router, updated right away. The food probe was easy, they say the plug is very stiff in the beginning, just had to push harder and it's working perfect now. All in all I love the grill!
I know this is an older video but, I'm wondering if the influx in temperature is due to the auger pushing too many pellets through at a time. On the pit boss, you can control the speed of the auger. Is that the same with this unit? Great video!
I would agree with your statement 100% I still have the smoker and still use it. Now I am going on the road with it all over the country in my school bus
After 3 years of using my “baby G” am still very satisfied with it. However, I have experienced several of the issues you have described. As far as the temp spikes you have mentioned, make sure you use quality pellets & make sure they are dry! Wood has a tendency to draw moisture. Worked for me. One other mention…if you’re going to use a reverse sear, make sure the grill is very clean. It has no problem reaching reaching 450 degrees & it will catch on fire. Lesson learned.
Hey Pap Drew, I was experiencing the same issue with random temp spikes on my new Davey Crockett. I got a hold of some tech support from the sellers (Earthsense) and they told me some times the heat shield is placed too far way from the temp sensor and can cause inaccurate readings. That in turn causes the hopper to feed more pellets and drive the temp spike, which then causes the cool down and spike again. I moved my heat shield from as far to the right over to the left and the temp has never budged plus or minus 2 degrees from what I set since. Maybe your issue with the temp could be as simple as that. I’m so much happier now that I don’t have to babysit the grill. It is definitely set and forget and I am grilling more than ever. Hopefully that helps.
I have had my grill for about a year. Great review man. You told the absolute truth and green mountain grills they just do a great job with her technical support. So I’m going to order myself a new power pack from those folks. This will take care of everything for me they sent a new control board. The unit fits great in our Winnebago adventurer. It is built to stand the test of time and the company is going to stand behind it people need to have no fear with this unit. I need to do a video because I’m totally blind and it is an absolute success as far as Accessibility is concerned for blind people.
I enjoyed watching your video, I live in the same city as you, I saw the light house! Last week I found this grill in the alley lol I wondwrif that's why they out it in the alley?!? All I needed to purchase was the power cord and its working great. I can't wait to out it to use and smoke so great meat! Thanks for your video and all the helpful tips!!!
ive had a Davey Crockett for a couple years. I just taped my power cord to keep it from popping out. I havent had the heat issue. If you are having wifi issues, turn the grill off. Press and hold the food button while powering the grill on. Hold it for quite a while and the display will start counting up. I have to do this every once in a while. I keep my grill outside, so I blame the hot/cold issues with that. I am very satisfied with it overall. Cooks and works great.
I so wished we had room for one of these right now in our rig. We have been wanting to get into smoking meats for the longest time. One day!! Thanks for sharing, this is an awesome review ! - Kyle and Renee
my family every week wants me to smoke meat or chicken. it is sooo good WOW. this smoker also has a pizza oven I will review that as well soon. thanks for watching
Love my “Baby G” I’ve had my GMG Davy Crockett pellet grill for about 3 months & am very satisfied with it. My wife & I RV & the grill travels very well. I really like the wifi features, almost an entirely set it & forget it. So far have not had any problems. Couple of tips....always wrap the drip pan with foil & keep the grill dry. Several types of covers available. Happy Grillin
We like it to. We have been smoking in now for a couple months. I was just bummed about the power cord but the customer service was really really good. Thank for the tips and watching the video and the cool comment right on.
Have had mine for 3 or 4 years now. Initially had temperature issues due to the heat deflector positioning. Took a couple cooks to figure out that mine needs the deflector slid all the way to the right. In that position actual temps match the controller within 5 to 10 degrees. Drip pan warped after the first few cooks. Mine will struggle at 225 or less. It will sometimes flame out, then overload the pot putting out the smoke show, then ignite and overshoot just as you said. It works great in the 300 degree plus range though. Burgers always turn out fantastic on it. Did baby backs on it last week and they turned out great too. The flame outs and overfeeding drive me nuts though. No problems with my lighter plug or socket. Paint is starting to chip and peel inside. It was my first pellet grill, and I will keep it....but am looking at pulling the trigger on a RecTeq now.
I love my DC, I have had the same exact problem with the power cord. If you just move it slightly the unit shuts down. I did not get a replacement but I may now after this video. I am surprised you did not mention the LEGS. The legs are wonky and are horrible. I also removed mine because I have almost dropped my unit a couple of times because the legs are flimsy and almost impossible to set up by oneself. Great review!
I agree about the legs. They have very good customer service. Just call them up and they should handle it. They did for me. I am going to be taking this smoker off road in the Can-AM and doing some cooking. So keep an eye out for tha. Back country smoking as we rip though some cool places. Thanks for watching and dropping a cool comment. Drew
Yep same issue here with the power cord. I stuck a car key in and while holding the edges of the metal piece turn the key to create a high spot. I just recently noticed the spike while at cooking at 215 for about 7hrs. This after I recently moved to the prototype labeled 7.0 firmware. Excellent review
We have the Daniel Boone model. Just got it in August 2020. We also have the temperature spikes, although my set temperature has to be above 300 before it happens. About once per hour, it will run up about 50-60 degrees above the set temp then come back down. Glad to hear it is not just my unit. As you say, not a deal breaker, and we love the thing, just wish it didn’t have the spikes.
yea it spikes and then goes down. I think it is the pellets I am not sure but it is not a deal breaking not that big of a deal. this smoker cooks so good!
Great review. Unfortunately I don't have your outstanding smoking abilities. I have had similar problems with plugs like that, but I'm lazy, cheap, frugal whatever. I just took a small flat screwdriver and spread them out. Hope you guys are well. Semper Fi Chief 4EverLand RV
They also have a lot of issues with the control board. After 1 cook mine wouldn't connect to WiFi anymore. My local dealer had them in stock and I picked it up the same day. NOTE: The serial number used for your warranty is on your control board. If you swap the board, make sure that you update your warranty with Green Mountain or your dealer to reflect the new serial number.
I like the video you made. Could part of your problem be the Battery adapter female end distorting? I do see a problem with the vent pipe getting in the way of storage. Can it be easily removed and reattached? Can you use it's WiFi directly to cell phone or laptop without going through Router?
I love mine since I’m an RVer. My biggest quirk is having to wiggle that power cord like you had mentioned. I think I’ll contact them and try to get a new one.
I would they have very good support m. They sent me out a new cord right away. My dad has the smoker now. I loved it and still do I just do not have room. I got a pit boss mini smoker and I love that as well. Does a great job of smoking and is half the weight
That is A LOT of smoke! I will not let you take my cake. I watched to the end. My cake :) Great sticker placement. Great review especially the weight consideration.
The one thing that Jim is going to miss going Full-time is his huge Pit Boss smoker Grill. He said wow I just got demoted to a baby Grill. Lol. But the Blackstone is lightweight for the RV. Since we have to watch the weight
this smoker is heavy that is for sure. it is worth the weight in spades. This smoker will make Jim smile and cook. That will make you smile and eat. life will be good and easy.
@papa drew could you do a follow up on this unit. How is it working now that you've had it for some time. I'm looking to get one an this one is on top of my list for camping an "easy" to haul.
I've had mine 4yrs, temp spikes drove me nuts in turn I drove Green Mountain nuts, they sent me every part there is to the grill and we couldn't stop the spikes. Mine would spike up and down 35 degrees, one day I checked the temp at grate with my Thermoworks Signal and the graph showed a plus or minus of 10 degrees so I quit looking at the controller and just cook. I just fire it up and adjust the temp up or down till I reach the temp that shows on my Signals
I've had my GMG Davy Crockett for 6 months and really like it and use it exclusely on my back patio. I don't do wifi operation and have not had any plug problems, but then again, I don't unplug it at the back. I knew it was a weakness. My only gripe is the hot spot in the front right area. I've moved the deflector right and left to no avail. I cook for 2 people so with burgers or chicken I can avoid the hot spot but with ribs it's a big problem. If you don't rotate the meat often, you are going to have a burned spot. I'm thinking of experimenting with using a bolt to drop into the holes on top of the deflector to see what effect that has on the hot spot. I've watched all the videos I can find on this. Oh, one last thing, the grease tray is now warped, one corner front left touches the bottom of the grill and the back is warped down, the whole thing rocks. I also modified the wire side rack by straightening the 2 outside hooks into legs and use it as a second level cooking surface and when not in use, it's a side rack again. Flexible. Keep the fire pot clear of ash and it works better.
Well said Ken thank you for share what your grill is doing. That’s great and I am very happy you like the smoker. I love it and it’s working great! Rock on
Very frustrating to get something new and it doesn't work. But it's great that the customer service was satisfactory. Looks like a pretty large unit. But I guess it needs to be to contain all it's components. Great review.
Wow! Really great review! It is a tank...lol! I love that you really went in depth about the pros and cons. It sounds like the biggest problem is that power cord. I hope someone over there sees this and might do something about it. Great review! 😊
couple questions, how hard is it to take the legs off and put them back on? We RV but stay for extended periods and it would be more convenient without the legs most of the time, but would like to have a handle still (which are the oddly short legs unfortunately). If they are easy to take on and off then no biggie. Also, can this sit on a plastic table with a piece of wood under in (like you have done) or do you think it would still be to much heat for the plastic table? Thanks
couple questions, how hard is it to take the legs off and put them back on? No it is very very easy. I even put the blots back into the holes so I would not lose them. We RV but stay for extended periods and it would be more convenient without the legs most of the time, but would like to have a handle still (which are the oddly short legs unfortunately). You Can buy the bag that is for this unit and use the handles from the bag. Also, can this sit on a plastic table with a piece of wood under in (like you have done) or do you think it would still be to much heat for the plastic table? I put the wood on one side to help it drain. I had it on a plastic table over thanksgiving "two rocks under the springs so it would drain. I had 0 problems. it gets warm but you should be ok. I have a life time table i set it on.
I have had mine for about a year and a half. I use it probably 3 to 4 times a week. Never had an issue until a few weeks ago the igniter went out. No big deal. You can manually light the pellets with a torch and you’re good to go. GMG sent me a new igniter free of charge. I have taken the grill camping and like the video says it is heavy and make sure you secure it well in the vehicle or it will fall over and you’ll have a mess. Also make sure you vacuum the burn chamber out every couple of uses and you won’t have an issue. Do not set this even with the legs out on a surface that will have an issue with heat. I melted a portable table this way. I ended up making a stand for mine that has wheels so I can roll it around and not have to break my back lifting it plus it’s now at a comfortable height to use. Overall for the price this thing is well made and GMG customer service is excellent.
Question. What is the manufacturing date on the back of your unit? I just got one that was manufactured 07/20 and I’m hoping I don’t have the same power cord issue.
I was in the Marines back in 1990. My MOS is 1812 tank crew man. I was in M1A1 heavy tanks. I drove, loaded, gunned, and tank commander. It was the best job I ever had. I used to go as fast as the tank would go around 45 or 59 and the I would hit a jump. The most Height I ever got was around 10 feet off the ground. That is 70 tons around 10 feet in the air and it was freaking great!
@@PapaDrewsRV dude thats fucking awesome seriously, talk about a cool job man. Few people get to do anything near a tank let alone be in one, youre a lucky man those things gotta be UNREAL to ride around in, great grill review too haha
@@killianderay5747 I have a lot more content. I just bought a 4 seat side by side. Full review coming on that. New to me truck review on that. Ramp system and reviews on that. I also am building a school bus to live in as an RV full review on that.
Lean up is really easy. Wash the grates were the food is. Clean the meat prob. I put foil down on the drip plate. It is not that bad for the great food this thing can make.
I own a mansion and a yacht....😂😂 I'll take 2. Looks like an awesome smoker. I guess it's cool that it had Bluetooth to tell you it wasn't cooking. Thanks for the review.
I thought they were gonna call the fire department with all that smoke! Haha. Your food looks delicious Papa Drew. Thanks for the honest review. I appreciate hearing the good and the not so good of a product.
Brother in law gave us his Davey Crockett last week, wanting an excuse to buy next model up. Cooked my first time last night. Took a chance with top sirloin, overnight dry rub. First hour at 150° alternate sides every 15 minutes. Raised temperature to 250° 15 minutes each side to meat temperature to 140°. Pulled and wrapped in foil for 15 minutes. Smoke ring was 1/8" and 1/4" of picking the middle. Best sirloin I've ever had. Juicy, great flavor and could almost cut it with my fork.
this is not really cooking. this does it all you set the temp and walk away it does the cooking and clean up is a snap right on. I will cook for you!!!!
I’ve had my gmg for about 8 months. Never had a power issue. The only thing I would improve on is having a searing slide like my pit boss. This this cooks very well. The back right corner gets a little hot but if you tend your cook you can handle that. I use a little Weber 14 grill in case I need to do a sear . Otherwise I like this portable grill/ smoker fir camping. It’s a perfect compliment for the trailer especially if there is a burn ban on. It’s plug n cook.
thank you Papa Drew for your honesty about the power plug on the grill I think you did a wonderful job with the video I like your honesty and yes thank you for your military service and telling us you drove tanks that means you know what a an item is built like we thank you very much your friend John chalker Waterbury Connecticut loyal friend and subscriber on RUclips CC
so you can get a 10 pound turkey in it easy you can fix a 12 pound turkey it is tight. so if you can picture that. I think the cooking fit a 12” x 18” cooking surface I hope that helps. I am driving out to Quartzsite for thanksgiving and cooking turkey in mine and i will film it for everyone.
I have had my Davy Crockett for about 4 years now. My power cord failed within a matter of days. I needed the grill and couldn’t wait for customer support so I took the ends apart and found the solder joints were broken so I re-soldered them. The cord had been fine ever since. Sounds like they need to source their cords from a different company. My only other complaint is the grease catch and drain system is too small and plugs up, and having to vacuum the fire pot out after every cook otherwise it won’t startup properly the next time.
We have different weights going on. There Amazon store lists this etails Brand Green Mountain Grill Material Cast Iron Item Weight 71 Pounds Item Dimensions LxWxH 28 x 20 x 14 inches and then it reads 57 pounds so I went with 71 to be safe. I figure if it is less bonus.
I’ve had this grill for about a year now. For some reason my wifi antenna became loose. Due to this, it twisted itself off the very delicate wire on the inside that connects the antenna to the circuit board. I tried to solder it myself but I’m no pro and the wire is so puny that nothing seemed to work. Phoned GMG customer service and they sent me a whole new board (still under warranty). So word of advice... make sure your antenna connection does not become loose. If it starts to, would advice removing the whole circuit board so you have access to both sides of where the antenna is attached so you can tighten it properly without stressing or damaging the delicate connecting wire. Other than that, it’s worked flawlessly. Interesting story about the cigarette lighter connection not working properly for you. They are a weak point in my opinion of this grill. The connection to the grill itself, and when plugged into the power adapter too. Got to always make sure I have good connection when I turn the thing on... and then try not to bump or jostle the cigarettes lighter attachments as it seems to take very little movement for them to work themselves apart. As a matter of fact... I’ve resorted to using electric tape to permanently secure the cigarette lighter adapter to the power block. Other than those minor issues... the portability of the grill is phenomenal. It is a very solid unit. Wifi works great.
I had to tape a couple zip tie ends to the side of the 12v plug to keep that from happening. Ran into the exact same issue. $1.00 fix to a issue that alot of us are having.
I read a number of other reviews by other people who had similar problems with Davy Crockett smoker, one finally gave up and sold it on Craig's List. The unit weights 60lbs and is not good for easy carry in an RV. I think that a simple folding charcoal grill is more practical for occasional grilling RV use. We use our Weber natural gas grill at home, without wireless monitoring and control gadgets, keeping things simple. Other brands of pellet smokers may be better and easier to use at home if using a smoker is important to you. We can use wood chips for smoke flavor if desired.
All good points. The gmg is small enough to go In the basement of most RV’s it does a great job of smoking food. So you have to really look at it for size and 12volts it is great weight and lugging it around it is a monster. From storage to a table is not bad. The power 12 volt plug is jacked up and need to be replaced on some of the units. If power goes out on you start there. Thanks for watching and the cool comment.
Yes I agree but it is make like a tank. So it should be able to take a beating. I do clean it out with a shop vac. My wife was like really my vac. it worked LOL
Great review; no BS straight to the point. If you had to choose; this GMG or a Pit Boss? Looking into small electric smokers for occasional use that are affordable and well built.
No BS truth here it goes. I know the GM very well how it is built and how it works. I know it is tough how. Major wind storm it blow off the table smashed on the ground and I picked it up. Plugged it in and it worked great. Smoked a turkey on it. The other smoker I have never used. I do not want to review a product I do not know anything about other then it is NOT 12v the gmg is
Thanks PapaDrew for the honest review of the green mountain grill. I have been thinking about investing in one but just haven't been able to pull the trigger yet. 70 pounds? Wow, I guess I could put the opposite of my generator and balance out the back of my truck..lol Thanks for sharing! 😀 Steve
If you have the equipment, you can add a blob of solder onto those wings. I'd just change it over to R/C electrical connectors or something more secure, maybe even a twist lock of some sort. Those cigarette lighter sockets aren't very good to begin with. Good video.
it is heavy. I am not sure were we are going to put it in the RV as well. The old smoker used it sit between the seats up front. this one is bigger we will have to see
I would appreciate it if you would try to bend the wings of the defective power cord out farther to see if that fixes it. A medium screw driver should work for that I would think. Looking forward to hearing the results of this "experiment"
That’s a pretty awesome grill! I love that they supply a 12V cord so you really can use it on the go. Our ASMOKE would need the inverter. 70 lbs sure is heavy. Getting a workout for sure. Those accessories get you every time. Thanks for the review.
Hello we hope all is well with you? we have been extremely busy and we got stuck out in Malta so now we are playing catch up with everyone. We ask your forgiveness for taking so long to reconnect. Love and Light Sarah and Glenn
I'll stick with the cordless grills old school ones. That might b good quality in some ways but if the Power cord is bad forget it. Sounds like a lot of hassle n crap to go through.
mine has been an absolute disaster....heat spikes of 200+ deg, wifi will only work direct, they tell me to update software but i cant hook up to wifi!?!? 🤦♂️👎👎 customer service did get back with me on a Sunday...only positive thing so far. 🤷♂️
Hello, enjoyed your video. Just one question: was this video sponsored by Green Mountain Grills? 😂😂😂. Not sure you made it clear enough. Also, you never answered the question that is the title of your video-is it worth the money?
No I bought this with my own money. They had nothing to do with it. To answer the question yes it is worth the money. What a great smoker. Heavy but it’s built like a tank. You will be happy with this. Also you will get a workout moving it at 51 pounds.
Well my wife would LOVE them and I bet that smoked they would be really good. Come on out to the west coast and I will cook some up for you. We would love to have you as our guests for sure! rock on
tofu needs to be coated in bacon grease with cheese on top then when cooked a little sour cream, awesome. Seriously, I just tried some firm tofu that wasn't that bad, if you weren't expecting a great beef dog.
Green Mountain so you know I was about to buy this grill today after reading all rhe great reviews I realized those great reviews where from 1 to 3 years ago when it was Made in USA. now that green Mountain turned all product's to straight GARBAGE by moving shop over to china. Temps jump over 150% paint peeling off on food. the list is endless.
I am very honest in my reviews. I am still using this smoker today. I do have some paint bubbling up on the lid. I will say that my smoker was picked up buy a wind storm yes that is right a wind storm. and dumped on the ground from a table. I picked it up plugged it in and was up and smoking. It really is built like a tank. I am not paid or did I get this product for free. I bought it. Just a heads up to my review for everyone.
@@PapaDrewsRV that's good to know cause I really wanted this grill because of its small size and pizza attachment I'm sure the grill it self it build strong that's not my worry the Electric box will be a problem from the slightest moisture or cheap cords shorting out.. Have you tried the pizza attachment if so how is it what can you say about? Thanks for your Reply👍
Why is it that old people seem to never be sstified? The company made it right for him and even gave him a blanket for the smoker...probably due to his incessant bitching. Also by his own words the problem was the contacts for the 12V plug yet he keeps saying its the board..."Live Long and Die Peacefully".
Cigarette style plugs are notoriously useless on all appliances. Do yourself a favour and cut them off the cord, replace with Anderson plugs and they will give 100% connection 100% of the time. Easy fix.
I have had GMG replace my power cords on both of my Davy Crockets. I think I am up to 5. Two on the one I had in California for one year, and three on the one I have in Tennessee for the last 18 months. They also sent me a new igniter (TN) with the latest power unit because they suspected something else. They were right, but. Yes, I replaced the power cord first and while though it started, which was an improvement from my previous situation, it would not keep temperature. If the temperature plateaued, it shut off. Here's my current situation. I was about to replace my igniter and turned it on again I got two indications. 1. FAL code: Bad igniter 2. My new power cord connection, just like in this video, was not good. Power went on/off/on/off. My "new" unit does not look like the improved unit in the video. Sorry, good customer service cannot compensate for awful design and awful technical support. REDESIGN THE FUCKIN POWER CORD YOU MORONS! AND DO THE SAME WITH IGNITER!

Shoulda waited a few more months. The new version is even better. But the DC is legit.
Yours coughs on fire WOW ok thanks for the info and sharing it with everyone. I am sure it will help. Rock on
I love how my eyes burn when i open the door 😆
Thank you for the heads up! I am about to smoke two turkeys. I want to smoke some frozen pies as well. Thanks for watching and the heads up rock on
WOW that thing is a tank. Nothing better than good customer service. Can't wait to see this baby in action at Quartzsite.
I am bring both of them so we can cook a ton of meat and chicken so rock on
I have had my grill for about a year.
I need to do a video because I’m totally blind and it is an absolute success as far as Accessibility is concerned for blind people.
that is very cool. I am happy you liked the video and the review. I agree 100% with you.
@@PapaDrewsRV Can't wait!! That sounds amazing 😋
Good intel
Thank you I try and thank you for watching and the commit rock on
@@PapaDrewsRV I just open mine today and I want to smoke some cheese 🧀
Nice let me know how it turns out please.
Ordered one today, can't wait to get it and try it out
your going to love it. They are built like a tank and smoke so good. You will have fin with it for a long long time.
Thank You for your service to this country Sir.
Nice 👍 I love mine it’s a tank..let me know how the new smoker works out please. Peace love and hippies
Excellent review
thank you very much and thank you for watching
Hope you guys are well.

right on and thanks for watching. the smoker is really good.
Great honest review. We will have to do a comparison video side by side with this and our Traeger when we get together. Or cook off.
Sounds good! lets do it. I have a head to head this month i am filming at the Beach. that should be a good one as well. head west and lets hook up
Hmmm, I have had mine for a few years now. I have not had any cord issues or temp run-away experienced. I have only had good times.
That is a great point. I did not know that. Right on
I like the video you made. Could part of your problem be the Battery adapter female end distorting? I do see a problem with the vent pipe getting in the way of storage. Can it be easily removed and reattached? Can you use it's WiFi directly to cell phone or laptop without going through Router?
it is the metal on the plug not making contact. After talking with customer service they sent out a replacement and problem fixed.
I have one they sent me a new power cord with the box. This is a fine grill
Make me hungry right now wow stunning awesome vedio good job.
Glad you enjoyed
only cooked a few times.. no fluctuation in temp at all.. Another thing to note is that you can calibrate your probe. There is another video on it.
nice i will look into it. I was letting people know what I was getting with my smoker. Thank you for the heads up and the comment.
Good honest review. Thank you for sharing. Good to know about the power cords and their customer service.
Our pleasure! thanks for watching and commenting
Great Job! Very informative
Glad it was helpful!
That is A LOT of smoke! I will not let you take my cake. I watched to the end. My cake :) Great sticker placement. Great review especially the weight consideration.
you are the best rock on and hugs. thanks for watching all of it and the very cool comments
So what you're saying is the wings on the power cord aren't big enough?
Correct they are not making good contact with the plug
WOW, 12v DC too ROCKS SOLD
12V dc is why I bought it. Less to mess with plug it in and go so nice
Wow nice smoker
Thank you 😋
I've had my GMG Davy Crockett for 6 months and really like it and use it exclusely on my back patio.
Great review.
thank you very much it was fun filming it. I was having a bad hair day so i used my hand LOL. thank you for watching rock on
Wow! Really great review! It is a tank...lol! I love that you really went in depth about the pros and cons. It sounds like the biggest problem is that power cord. I hope someone over there sees this and might do something about it. Great review! 😊
Glad you liked it! that power cord is a pain for sure. they know ALL about it. that is a good thing. thanks for watching right on.
I own an GMG.. but all good. But i hate it does not stay connected thur wifi.
couple questions, how hard is it to take the legs off and put them back on?
I just got one that was manufactured 07/20 and I’m hoping I don’t have the same power cord issue.
it is new I mean like months old new. if that helps I am not sure of the dates.
You drove tanks? Bro my buddy would go crazy about that! What kind of tanks were you in and what was it like?
I was in the Marines back in 1990. My MOS is 1812 tank crew man. I was in M1A1 heavy tanks. I drove, loaded, gunned, and tank commander. It was the best job I ever had. I used to go as fast as the tank would go around 45 or 59 and the I would hit a jump. The most Height I ever got was around 10 feet off the ground. That is 70 tons around 10 feet in the air and it was freaking great!

Was wondering about clean up ? I have heard they are hard to clean up esp in a camp type setting ?
Lean up is really easy. Wash the grates were the food is. Clean the meat prob. I put foil down on the drip plate. It is not that bad for the great food this thing can make.

I know right. What until i beak in the other smoker at the beach LOL people are going to be up set at me
Brother in law gave us his Davey Crockett last week, wanting an excuse to buy next model up.
It’s a great smoker no joke.

@@PapaDrewsRV Goes to show what I know. LOL No cooking, I'm in.

Right on. I agree with you thanks for watching and dropping a cool comment

what are the detentions of the cooking area?? I can't seem to find that anywhere. Will this fit a standard brisket??
so you can get a 10 pound turkey in it easy you can fix a 12 pound turkey it is tight. so if you can picture that.

Have you actually put it on a scale? GMG lists the weight at 57 pounds empty on their site. Thanks.
We have different weights going on. There Amazon store lists this etails
Brand Green Mountain Grill
Material Cast Iron
Item Weight 71 Pounds
Item Dimensions LxWxH 28 x 20 x 14 inches and then it reads 57 pounds so I went with 71 to be safe. I figure if it is less bonus.
@@PapaDrewsRV 71 is the shipping weight, including the packing materials, 57 is the actual weight.
Wifi works great.
nice add on thank you for sharing
What a great review! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I had to tape a couple zip tie ends to the side of the 12v plug to keep that from happening. Ran into the exact same issue. $1.00 fix to a issue that alot of us are having.
Great Review! 👍
Thank you very very much
I read a number of other reviews by other people who had similar problems with Davy Crockett smoker, one finally gave up and sold it on Craig's List.
Could use a clean shop vac I suppose. I like it, 70 pounds is a lot of weight though for the camper.
Yes I agree but it is make like a tank. So it should be able to take a beating. I do clean it out with a shop vac. My wife was like really my vac. it worked LOL
Papa Drew's RV 😂
Great review; no BS straight to the point. If you had to choose; this GMG or a Pit Boss? Looking into small electric smokers for occasional use that are affordable and well built.
No BS truth here it goes. I know the GM very well how it is built and how it works. I know it is tough how. Major wind storm it blow off the table smashed on the ground and I picked it up. Plugged it in and it worked great. Smoked a turkey on it. The other smoker I have never used. I do not want to review a product I do not know anything about other then it is NOT 12v the gmg is
good review
Glad you enjoyed it
It is. And, the new version the "Trek" is even better. I only know because my Davy Crockett was stolen a couple months ago...
😀 Steve
Right on
I just bought one yesterday.
let us know what you think about it please
Great Review! 👏🏼💕👏🏼
Glad you liked it!!😃
If you have the equipment, you can add a blob of solder onto those wings.
I'd just change it over to R/C electrical connectors or something more secure, maybe even a twist lock of some sort. Those cigarette lighter sockets aren't very good to begin with.
Good video.
thanks for watching and that is a great tip to just add solder to it. Very cool idea right on
Great smoker, but weighs too much for us, plus we don't have the room. Thanks for the review
it is heavy.
Well Done, love to have one of them .your food looks so good all the time, can't wait to meet u at meet up,much love 💗 💖
Thanks so much. I an not wait to cook for everyone. How fun would that be. thank you for the kind words

Hey Papa Drew!
That’s a pretty awesome grill! I love that they supply a 12V cord so you really can use it on the go. Our ASMOKE would need the inverter. 70 lbs sure is heavy. Getting a workout for sure. Those accessories get you every time. Thanks for the review.

Thanks!
I’m leary of using the legs because is so heavy. I need the legs underneath it to be a bit taller. Too short.
I agree with you

Thank you for watching and the input
