Thanks for the message. It's imperative that the grease drip tray is in place while the grill is in operation. The grease tray comes with all the GMG grills; Is this what you are referring to? The grease drip tray allows better heat distribution and ensures grease and drippings do not come into contact with the flame. On top of the grease drip tray regular foil can be used or the pre-cut foil sheets from GMG. If using traditional foil, we recommend the thick industrial grade foil for durability. The foil just makes for easier cleanup overall. Hope that helps. Thanks!
The last time I cleaned the grease drip tray, i covered it with Alumium Foil. I just did a 10# pork butt, on my TREK. During this smoking, it appeared the foil disintegrated, maybe 50%. I think I am going to apply two or three layers of foil, after this cleaning. As far as HD foil, I have looked at the thickness of foil on all the box rolls. They're identical. Only the price was different.
@@FireMartyVa A replacement drip tray is like 20 bucks. Just let it burn off, when you remove it scrap it a bit. Don't sweat the small stuff. The foil always leaks or burns away and juices get through anyway. Just replace the drip tray every few years. It's gonna warp too.
i have a pellet pro pellet stove and the exhaust fan will not shut off even after i unplug it for a few minute than i turn the stove to off plug it back in and the fan starts as soon as its plugged in even when the stove is on the off spot,?? any ideas??
everthing works starts up lights up heats up and the other fan comes and blows the heat out but when everthing shuts down that fan just keeps running on low can hardly hear it but its on
@@chrisfraser3235 Thanks for the notes Chris. Yes that will be a Pleasant Hearth PHCAB50PS. We have never carried this line of stoves, but we do offer some replacement parts. I just took a look through the owners manual but could not find the parts breakdown like I was hoping. I think your best bet right now will be to contact Pleasant Hearth for direct information. Never put foil on your drip tray. It throws your temps off. Keep that thermo sensor clean as well. Here's another biggie, get a pipe cleaner to clean the drip port. I just tip mine over and clean the ceramic ignitor with a small paint brush when clean ash out.
Surprised the grease tray has so much dripping that wasn’t used with the food…probably gonna rinse/wipe mine off every time unless I forget or do things like only veggies.
Yeah it was pretty gunked up. I do a lot of big chunks of meat for extended cooks. So far I'm liking the foil liners, much easier to just take that off and throw it away when it gets built-up. Thanks for the message, any future questions just let us know. Thanks.
Are you referring to exterior wipe down or interior cleaning? At the end of the day it's a persons preference on the cleaning, but yes wiping off the outside after each cook will keep it looking sharp and will keep the time to a minimal. Thanks!
I got one for Xmas. I have done mostly 2 hour cooks and one 5 hour cook. Roughly a half bag of pellets. Just did my first clean out and there wasn't much to clean out..I have yet to even get grease in my drip bucket yet lol
@@aaronisgrate Thanks for sharing! Yeah pellets burn very clean. Once you do your first brisket or whole chicken you'll have some grease in the bucket :) Any questions or assistance needed as you go along just let us know! I've got a pork shoulder going on mine today!
Fuuuuck that shit. Clean your grill after every cook. All you need is a quick vacuum and wipe out the drip catcher. Line your deflector plate with foil so you can easily clean the drippings off. You do that, it starts up right away every time. Getting the grease out prevents grease fires. Don't be lazy. Take care of your stuff. The stainless steel cleaner is a good tip, tho.
There is no reason to use obscene language here. Most folks do not clean their grill after every cook, doesn't matter what kind of grill it is. I'm not aware of any manufacturer that states cleaning is required after every single cook. Cleaning your grill more frequently will result in a better look and better operation with each use. These are simply suggestions in the video here and how I clean my Trek grill. Everyone is encouraged to follow the manufacture cleaning and maintenance outline included in the owners manual with their grill. Thanks.
BS. No reason to clean every cook. Maybe every 3 or 4. If you do the shut down correctly there will be no ash buildup. Just scrape the drip tray off once in awhile. Oh. And foil causes lots of people problems interfering with the heat sensor. And the juices leak through it and the foil burns anyway. The heat shield only costs 20 bucks. And they warp. You're going through more money in foil and greasy fingers!
Great video, thanks !!! looks like the thermal probe was redesigned from my Davy Crockett
Yeah slight redesign and new placement on the Trek, but the exact same function as the Davy. Glad it was helpful, thank you!
Darth Vader cleans his grill after a couple of cooks. Love it.
Have you tried just placing aluminum foil instead of purchasing the Drip pan? If so, what were the results?

Sounds like it's most likely an exhaust fan low limit switch issue. Which PelPro model do you have? Happy to help!

You really need to implement that these cookers are cleaned AFTER EVERY cook. You stated that you do it every other cook.
