Thanks for the video because I need to replace the tensioner on my '05 Altima 2.5S. With a bit of luck I might get that top bolt out of the but I'm pretty worried about getting it back IN. Any suggestions because, as you know, it's tight as heck in there.
never open/disassembly the new tensioner due to the safety from the factory. All we need is loose the couple nut/bold that keep the alternator. The long bold from the alternator pull out enough to push the alternator forward. You will have space from the top near by the alternator for moving the bolt from tensioner then / by using Ratcheting Wrench.
@@mrcokez1 Dog, the manual says to remove the alternator to get to that top bolt, first step is to remove the alternator, though it appears you can just remove one bolt and turn it away without removing it fully.
How did you remove the pulley? I gather that when you use a box wrench and pull in the direction to tighten loosen the pully to put the belt on. So what direction would I turn to loosen the bolt in order to replace just the wheel pulley. I don't know if I need to replace the whole tensioner. Just the wheel pully looks wobbly. Any help would be great as I have a 2005 Altima 2.5L.
+Randy Templeton : Is this what causes the Altima to make a loud noise when idling in drive (for instance, at a red traffic light) but when you shift the car in neutral or park, the noise goes away completely?
Dane Haughton could be bad motor mounts. See if you can check the rubber for having cracks. Probably the one at the right side of the car and the one near the radiator
The tensioner could be worn out and have some sideways slop in it. Put your tool on it and rock it back and forth against the spring tension. See if it cocks sideways when doing this. If not, did you perhaps run through a big puddle of water? That could get belt wet and throw it off. Rotate all of the pulleys and make sure one of them is not locked up.
This was nightmare for me the lower bolt is ok but top bolt i have to remove fuse box and over flow tank, get long size socket 12 mm and thats it its too tight even returning back the belt is a headache 😂 but ive done it finally
is the pulley nut a 14mm or a 15mm?some cars have them at 17mm or 18mm. just asking because i'm helping a friend replace his serpentine belt this weekend
can I ask why you replaced it, I have the same year car. I was thinking on replacing mine because when the car is in drive stopped it has a hard shaking idle. about 200-500 rpm. I heard if I replace this the idle should be better. did you have similar idle issue's?
I have changed the belt, successfully have it installed and properly aligned via careful check. But immediately after I starting the engine, the belt took off. What might be wrong?
After replacing the belt on my 2004 altima it acts like it's idled low i have to keep my foot on the gas and brake to keep it going what could be wrong please help
I have no idea why it would idle low. Do you have the belt routed properly on the pulleys? Remove the belt and run it for a minute and see if that changes the idle.
Thanks for posting! You answered all the questions I needed answered. Have a great day!
Nice thanks. I wish my car was that clean!
Thanks!
thank you very much my friend for this video it is really helpful.

what the hell are you talking about? the tensioner is self adjusting, you don't need to mess with the alternator

awesome video buddy thank you
If I remember correctly, it was a 14 mm
thanks brother !

@papitosabe. The tensioner pulley bearing was noisy. That's why I replaced it.

it"s the alternator clutch pulley
My serpentine belt seems to have slipped off, doesn't seem broken, any ideas? Do they just slip off sometimes?

can you use the belt tool to unbolt the pulley cause u can't get a regular wrench on it to little space
Too late but ive used flexible open wrench 14 mm
Where can I buy your tensioner tool? I’ve bought two already that had to return. There were too thick. Please help
It is a MAC Tool.

+hellshade2 14mm for nissan altimas
Can you make a video for a 2003 Nissan Altima to replace the serpentine belt please 😊
Jackie Olivares V-6 or 4 cylinder?
I’ve tried it’s so tight there damn just notice the belt is in bad condition have to replace it
Sroor9001 Yes, it’s tight 😬

Randy Templeton great thanks for the help. it idles rough in revers or drive at a red light.

Lyu Yang see above questions
How much do these jobs usually cost ??
I swear every belt I get is too short , I can put my old back on but not the new 1s . I took back 3 already 😩
😬😬😬
Could the serpentine belt cause your power steering to go out until the belt is replaced or put back on correctly?
Not likely. If the belt is there and routed properly then the power steering should work, unless it has a problem of it's own.

Mine shakes at 2000rpm could this be the issue ?
Do you mean the engine or belt shakes at 2000 RPM? Or does the car shake while driving it?
How much do think this would cost?
Magic Flyy You mean labor? Hard to say. Depends where you live. It’s prob a 1.5-2.0 hour job.
What is the size of the belt?
I don’t remember. The parts store can look it up.
Can't really see anything video is too blurry bro
You mean you can't manually adjust this belt? What kinda communistic idea was this?
the tensioner is the adjustment to tighten the belt
Thank you so much that was very informative I appreciate it
You’re welcome!
