I moved all my stuff about 20 years ago to Aurora Colorado in a Honda Civic from Philadelphia. It was 1786 miles and now I'm moving to Arizona and Lake Powell. God bless and good luck!!
Welcome to Iowa!! I live in Des Moines if you ever need any help with anything, also heavy into gardening and the simple living!! Time to slow down and enjoy life!!
Congrats! I'm 26 and recently decided to make a goal to retire early as well! Seeing your journey is so empowering and inspiring! Good luck with life in Iowa!
Very nice area you found there. Small pond in back and a larger lake not far away. Hope it has good fishing. I don't envy your move - I actually hate moving. So much now to move it would take a semi truck. Just as a precaution for you - since your now in tornado ally - you may want to consider a storm shelter. Iowa winters can be very harsh as well - maybe a whole home backup generator? Always better to be prepared and never need these things than to not have them when the time arrives. Good luck to you and your family. Stay safe young man.
Funny you say that. Yesterday we were hit with a massive storm with 100 mph winds. I have a safe room that is concrete on all sides 10 inch concrete. Lots of fishing around and i plan to try to make a sustainable pond that will feed us. Lots of new things to learn. I love it!
@@thefreezedryingcommunity Ya, I saw the news and wondered how you made out - no real damage I hope. Just remember your pond has to be deep enough to not freeze solid - or your fish won't make it.
@@jerrysmith372It came out of nowhere and i am glad i was home, or i would have lost anything that wasn't bolted down. The fish survived last winter and it was excavated a few feet deeper early this year.

I like Brian because he will even show his fails - so I can learn what not to do too. Stay safe young lady.
Nice new digs! Thanks for showing us! Packing and moving and unpacking is a bear, but it will be behind you soon enough. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. And tell us what you plan to do with that nice pond in back. Fish? Shrimp? Ducks?
Almost entirely unpacked now. It has been never ending it seems. The pond has quite a few bass and crappie. What i would like to do is use it as a way to get fresh fish consistently. Fishing pole to table 🎣
Just found your channel last week as I was looking for reviews for freeze drying food. What a great channel you have! I am excited to see more, LOVE the storage unit videos as well as the freeze drying videos. Congrats on the new house and land, it's beautiful! God bless.
Thanks so much. I will try to keep doing some storage units but it will be a little more difficult where i am. A good reason to take a drive though! Thanks for watching!

I need to toughen them up a bit. They already love to fish, and they will get plenty of that in the coming years. They have been city kids a little too long.
I have done just about everything CO has to offer in the 18 years that i was there. The thing it does not have to offer is my kids grandparents. I can travel anywhere i want when retired. 😃 Iowa is quiet, way less populated, less expensive and has good schools. My priorities have certainly changed as i have gotten older.
Priority list changes as one gets older The smaller towns make for a reminiscent picture from Norman Rockwell. Absolutely iconic. And yes I have been there. You learn the dedication and definition of hearty people and why the midwest crowd is tough mentally and physically Yes deer hunting is a thing here. And there are plenty of beautiful areas to camp in. Lake Hendick state park in Riceville Iowa is just one example
invested heavily in real estate. saved 90% of our income by not buying useless junk. invested in rentals, paid them off and now have six figure passive income.
We have lived away from family for almost 20 years. It was time for our kids to be around grandmas and grandpas and for us to take a break from the big city.
Storm Lake for 2 years. Loved it. Great people. Lower cost of living. Its hilarious to hear the 20 something kids talk how a 625 dollar a month 2 bedroom apartment is expensive. 🤪🤪🤪😆😆. If they only knew what we knew then

Best to you and your family.... I’m sure the increasing cost of real estate in Colorado made for a nice profit as well...Great timing.
It was good timing for sure. High real estate and doing all of this during COVID made for a nice bonus that we weren't expecting.
Why is real estate cost increasing in Colorado?
