Turmeric {Process, Freeze Dry & Capsulate}

This is what we do when we harvest all our turmeric. We clean, process and freeze dry. Once freeze dried we turn it into powder, mix with ground black pepper and make turmeric capsules.

Did you pre freeze the tumeric before putting it into the freeze dryer?

Yes we usually pre freeze most things before putting them in the freezer dryer

Do you know the correct ratio of powdered pepper to powdered turmeric when doing such a large batch? Many thanks 😊

It depends on the use and the quality of the pepper and turmeric. There is conflicting information online but the general rule we stick to is 100:1. This works out to around 1.5 teaspoons of black pepper powder to half of a cup of Tumeric.

Thanks Sandra. The black pepper is needed to activate the cucumin in turmeric.

Yes this is the large model from Harvest Right Freeze Dryers. We imported this one to Australia it I believe that Oz Farmer have been stocking some as well.
