    • @GeorgiaBoy1961
      @GeorgiaBoy1961 2 месяца назад

      He was incredible! "Guitar Player" magazine published their 25th anniversary edition back in the 1980s, and Larry Collins was one of the greats chosen for it. By the time he was twelve, he was performing on TV with his older sister Lorrie as one-half of the Collins Kids duo, and also doing blazing instrumental duets with the likes of Joe Maphis. A pint-sized musical genius! Larry went on to a successful career as a songwriter and performer. Late in life, he re-united with his sister for some years of performing again before her death. Their magic was still intact and modern audiences loved them.

      jolynn White, actually the Collins Kids were a bit ahead of Berry. They were performing by Feb 1954, and had released several albums about 2 years ahead of Berry going solo and releasing his first album. Although Larry Collins and Chuck Berry were very dynamic performers on stage, each is different in their own way, and it is clear that neither copied the other.

      @@julianchaney6471 Or that Chuck Berry wasn't influenced by Larry Collins a bit also. Artists in any genre are influenced by each other. When Lorrie and Larry began their sister-brother act on TV in February, 1954, they were initially creating their own unique act, because Elvis would not release his first record for radio air play until July 1954, and Bill Haley and the Comets didn't release "Rock Around The Clock" for radio air play until April, 1954. Larry was dancing around while playing the guitar right from the start as an 8 year old; it was a natural reaction for him, and not an act. This was YEARS before Chuck Berry became known. Looking at the real time line, it is clear that the "Collins Kids" were pioneer Rockabilly artists. Bill Haley did start his group in 1952, but the group was called "The Saddlemen" at first, and were playing a bluesy Country and Western Swing at first.

    that was incredible... not to detract from anyone at all over the years that thought they could play guitar, but that kid just blew the socks off of everything I thought I knew about rock and roll RIGHT THERE..... blew me away, what a performance...... was he born in '44???? he was 13 or 14 in this recording... oh man.... what a show they put on.....

    Whatever happened to the boy playing the guitar? He was WAY ahead of his time by his guitar skills and his dance steps which they now call the shuffle.

      It's a hollow-body guitar! One of 2 special Mosrite double-necks (the other was for Joe Maphis) made by Semie Moseley.
