Fun fact since Natalie mentioned it. Tarantino's proposed Kill Bill 3 would in fact be about Vernita's kid getting revenge on the Bride.

The insane blood sprays are actually an homage to a classic Japanese samurai film, “Sanjuro” by Akira Kurosawa, in which a blood bag ruptured during a duel causing it to spray like a fountain. Kurosawa kept it in the film, and that effect has been replicated and paid tribute numerous times in film history since.

My favorite bit of Kill Bill lore is that Oren and The Bride were best friends. This is why the bride knows her entire life story and can tell it to us step by step, and that's why they have little inside jokes that they finish like the "trix are for kids line". This is also why she apologizes and the Bride actually accepts it. Also at the end when she finally kills Oren she barely looks at the body because she doesn't wanna look at the body of the woman that used to be her best friend.

the scene where O-ren has a "spidey sense" there's a layered sound of her screams as a child from the animated sequence. Although this is a great action film, it still references trauma and violence at a young age. she was literally the youngest in the squad; if she did not have that self-preservation instinct, she would not have lasted as long as she did the way that she did.

One of my favorite details of Kill Bill Vol 1 was Hattori's assistance is snarky and back talks in the restaurant, but becomes completely stoic and reverent as Hattori's assistant with during the sword scenes.

“God will be cut” was one of the best lines ive heard in a movie in a long time

"I want him to know I WANT him to know" such an epic line imo.

  • @jonmercano1138

To mostly quote an animated version of Tarantino about why Uma’s character name is bleeped: “When Bill killed her husband and her baby and her whole family, he killed her identity.”

  • @bronylexicon8485

When Oren tells her "you might not last five minutes", the fight lasts for 5 minutes and 2 seconds from when the music starts, to when she deals the final blow.

  • @dustinherk8124

her name is revealed in the first movie, but most miss it. its on her plane ticket to Japan

  • @danwilliams2551

I've never seen a movie where it was like every scene, every frame, every line of dialogue felt so electrifying. Almost every movie I watch has a scene you feel like you can miss after the first or second watch. Every scene in this movie feels endlessly rewatchable.

  • @justjordan1575

She let Sophia live not only to give Bill a message, but also because Sophia didn’t take part in beating her up. Sophie was just there and witnessed it.

One of the coolest attention to detail moments is when she wakes up from the coma and the guys are approaching. Throughout the previous scene her heart was racing, but when she hurriedly lays back down her heart rate goes back to resting. Shows how good she is since she can control her own heart rate.

I love Quentin's use of soundtrack music from the 60s and 70s. I recognize some but not all of it. I was so happy that he was able to work with the master, Ennio Morricone before he passed.

Fun fact. Uma described the plot of this movie in the restaurant scene in Pulp Fiction.

  • @markadams3976

The B&W segments were partly to appease the censors over the amount of violence and gore. I have the Japanese release of the movie and entire battle against the Crazy 88 is in colour.

  • @madelinealleman3730

One of my favorite movies of all time! When the song with the clapping & guitar kicks off right when she takes the first step into the snow (Uma Thurman's character and Lucy Lu's battle commences) is one of the best building into the action scenes in my opinion.

  • @thoughtfulstargazer

Kill Bill is loosely based on the japanese film Lady Snowblood. Tarantino pays homage to the film by having O-ren dressed in all white during her battle with the Bride and the song that plays afterward is sung by Meiko Kaji, the actress who originally played Lady Snowblood.

The anime sequence of O-REN backstory is directed by Kazuto Nakazawa with the studio “production IG” that worked on it as well. He also directed the music video of Breaking the Habit by Linkin Park. (Which is my favorite lol)
