This is one of the first times people really noticed Pitt eats a lot in roles, because it's actually a character trait here (because he made it one, the crafty dude). Pitt figured Rustys nature has him constantly on the go, so he never has time to sit around for a meal and eats whenever he can.
The cast said they had so much fun filming this. It was almost like summer camp. Because the cast was huge, they had time to hang out when they weren't on set. That sense of comraderie really comes through.

And that evolves as the stars escalate in their own careers in real life, their parts in the films evolve along with them. Clooney & Pitt are so epically cool…
This movie is a wonderful homage to the 1960 original. If you've seen the original, there are certain things in this film that are mapped over from the original. How both movies end (which are completely different) is a really neat insight on how crime and sins were treated in the late 50s/early 60s (which is why 1960's The Apartment was so different for its time) compared to 2001.
The original was made while the Hays Code was still enforced. One of the rules was that criminals could not, in the end, profit from their crimes. So despite being the protagonists of the film they were never going to win. You could make films that broke the Hays rules, and a lot were done. But the bigger distributors wouldn't work with any film that didn't have their approval.
The 1960 film was also just abasically an excuse for the Brat Pack to get together and party in Vegas while getting paid. Still and entertaining film though.
Ocean's 11 is brilliant. Ocean's 12 was a bit so-so for me. Ocean's 13 shows found family and 'you fuck with them, you fuck with us' mentality more than the fast and the furious (or so I understand from the vin diesel memes) and I LIVE for it. Ocean's 8 we also love because of course we do. Casts are unbelievably stacked and don't worry, Nat, you'll get Sandra in Oceans 8! This has been a PSA.
Ocean's 12 is more meta, but also way funnier. I remember laughing my a$$ off constantly in the cinema. It's different; I guess that's why so many people don't like it so much; they were expecting more of the same. It also fared much better internationally than in the US.
The original version of Ocean's 11 was released in 1960. It featured members of the Rat Pack, with Frank Sinatra playing Danny Ocean. It is well worth seeing.
All the Oceans films are really fun and enjoyable to watch. If you like the heist movie genre, I'd definitely recommend Now You See Me. Great cast, a lot of heist elements, and MAGIC!
I think Google told you Sandra Bullock was in this movie because she's in Ocean's 8, an all female spin off (or is it a sequel) where she plays Danny Ocean's sister.
If you really like this movie, I highly recommend the TV show _Leverage._ It's about a group of thieves who turn Robin Hood. It's one of my favorite shows. They pull the Ocean's' "It looks like it's going wrong but it's actually completely fine" every episode. It's so much fun!
I watched this in the theaters years ago, and it's become one of my go-to movies to have on in the background whenever I'm working on something. There are so many little details and bits of foreshadowing that you'll only notice on a rewatch. The cinematography is excellent as well. I used to have the CD soundtrack playing during my college commutes. Every time I've visited Las Vegas, I've always stopped by the Bellagio. I don't even gamble, but it really is a beautiful place. The DVD version has a great director's commentary track, and there are all kinds of interesting details. Don Cheadle is uncredited due to a disagreement over billing; he wanted either to be among the above title billings, or none at all. He got the latter. Brad Pit was constantly snacking in between takes, so it eventually became part of Rusty's character. Hence why he's always eating. He ate 40 shrimp just for the Tess intro scene due to how many takes it took. The producer was friends with the owner of the Bellagio, which is why they were allowed to film and stay there. The ending group scene at the fountain was the last scene they filmed, and was mostly improvised; the instructions were for Brad Pitt to leave first, and for Carl Reiner to leave last. The others just walked away when it felt natural. In fact, the fountain scene only came about when the director couldn't figure out how to get the group to separate after the heist, and just happened to be leaning on the fountain railing as he was thinking. There are plenty of other aspects worth looking into.
An awesome film choice! By the way, not sure if anybody pointed this out to you Nat, but this film was released as an immediate follow up to the film’s director’s (Steven Soderbergh’s) historic Oscar win. Steven Soderbergh was the first (and to date only) person in Oscars history to receive 2 Best Director nominations for 2 different films in the same year (ERIN BROCKOVICH (2000) and TRAFFIC (2000)) and win for one of them (TRAFFIC). Memorable acceptance speech too.
It's funny what people remember 20 years later. Steven Soderbergh directed "Erin Brokovich," about corporate corruption, followed by "Traffic," perhaps the best film about the war on drugs ever made, and produced "Syriana," perhaps the best film about oil ever made. He admitted that "Ocean's 11" was originally just a lark, but it's the one that people remember today.
@@charlize1253 The insane part about TRAFFIC is that it has the rare distinction of winning every nominated category EXCEPT Best Picture (which it lost to GLADIATOR). I personally think either TRAFFIC or CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON should've won that year.
I feel like this movie in particular puts a spotlight on Pitt's eating shtick because yeah he does eat/chew in every scene, but then at the tail end he gets heartburn when waiting for Danny outside prison. I feel like that's supposed to be the punchline after a whole movie of weirdly noticeable eating lol

Part of Soderbergh’s brilliance is the ability to stage a scene without _needing_ the typical Hollywood control. He uses imperfect lighting to his advantage like few directors can. Yes, his DOP is doing their work, too, but Soderbergh has proven it’s his knack for on-the-go run-and-gun framing that remains consistent throughout his career. The production value of his films comes in part from how he’s able to save money where most people spend it, and put it into everything else (actors, locations, etc). All his awards are richly deserved. I say this as someone who has never worked with him. However, people I trust have given me the inside baseball scoop about his work methods, while he was shooting GFX here in Toronto. Though produced (not directed), his influence was clear. His method of lighting design in to sculpt from what’s there, as opposed to fabricating. He’s a mad genius.
Soderbergh was his own DOP for this film too! He does cinematography (and editing nowadays too) using his parents' names as pseudonyms. He uses his mother's name for editing and his dad's name for cinematography. Since TRAFFIC, he has been the DOP for all the films he directed.
The cast and plot is amazing. I think you’ll like this film and trilogy. Brad had his character eat because he was filming the whole time. Enjoy gorgeous!
This series is actually damn near perfection. With the direction, casts, writing, production and music all tied up in a very shiny bow. I like the 4th movie in the series the most but as stated before, you can just have these movies on in the background and still know all the good lines.
Danny's schemes are all about stage magic - a flashy distraction (often himself) while his crew pulls the real heist - sometimes the distraction is a double one, both Danny _and_ the more known members of the crew. You never know which with them. His sister is just like him. I suspect they learned to pull heists from the same people.
I've watched Ocean's Eleven more times than I can remember. During the era it released, it stood out as extraordinarily special. I fear much of that is lost to a modern viewing, yet I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did. Unfortunately, Ocean's Twelve is woefully forgettable. BUT! Oceans Thirteen makes up for this. So much so, it's worth slogging through Twelve to experience Thirteen.
Couple things: (01.) "Ocean's Eleven" is actually a second collaboration between George Clooney and director Steven Soderbergh. Their first was a 1998 film called "Out of Sight", which adapted Elmore Leonard's book of the same name. If you enjoyed George Clooney as Danny Ocean, it's probably worth your time to give that one a shot. (02.) "Out of Sight" would also make an interesting double feature with Quinton Tarantino's 1997 film "Jackie Brown" as the two films are vaguely connected. Elmore Leonard wrote both "Out of Sight" and "Rum Punch" (the novel from which "Jackie Brown" is adapted) and would often have characters introduced in one book appear as supporting players in other books, a tradition the two films try to invoke.
If you like this, then try Out Of Sight, with Clooney and Jennifer Lopez. It's not an ensemble heist, but it is a crime movie with outstanding chemistry between the leads, Clooney as a crook and Lopez as a US Marshal. It's based on the Elmore Leonard book (the other adaptation of his work that everyone knows is LA Confidential) so expect snappy dialogue.
Yes! Love the "Ocean's" franchise! Glad you enjoyed it. I hope you'll be able to watch all of them eventually all are equally fun in my opinion and have a connecting story. Another good heist film that released close to this one is "The Italian Job" in 2003 great cast in that as well! :D
One of the most rewatchable and best comfort movies. I've seen this more times than I can forget. The cast is spectacular, and Steven Sodeberg's direction and pacing is really well done.
The mormon twins are played by rather mid-tier actors, but their pedigree is huge. Curly is Casey Affleck, ben Afflecks brother, while mr. slick muscles is Scott Caan, James Caan's son. James ironically played a casino owner in the show "Las Vegas"
the swat vans are the vans benie bought from dealership, in the hand squeezing scene. thats why they showed the pine airfreshner as it was shown in both scenes.
This is one of those movies that i can confidently say I figured out how they did it before it was revealed. I recognized Brad Pitt's voice as the one shouting over the radio during the SWAT attack and realized what they were doing.
Great choice! After not seeing that many George Clooney films, his role as Danny Ocean is indellible and iconic. And seeing Bernie Mac in any role makes me miss him.
This movie also inspired the series Leverage that keeps the same playful tone but adds a Robin Hood vibe by having the thieves committing crime to help people. Highly recommend.
One of those movies I watched where the dialogue and speeches just kind of seeped into my brain and I can pull them up whenever I want. I love the briefing about the vault and the three casinos above it, I love Ruben’s explanation of the three most successful robberies in the history of Vegas, I love how well everyone plays off each other… such a great heist movie, singular in its craft.
I honestly love all 4 Oceans movies and hope they do a 9. A solid heist movie is an achievement, but to have 4 bangers is a fantastic run. The core crew of 11-13 had great chemistry (RIP to Bernie Mac and Carl Reiner) and the cast that surrounds them is A+. Though 8 doesn't have the boys club, I still think you will enjoy it Nat.
Haters can try as hard as they want, but you will NEVER get me to hate a film with Cate Blanchette and Sandra Bullock in it. They could sit on blank stage reading the phone book back and forth to each other, and I’ll buy a ticket.
Over the years after 11 came out, I realized I am actually a sucker for proper heist films. So when 12 and 13 came out I was immediately in line for it. I couldn't catch 8, I was moving abroad.
Sandra Bullock is in "Ocean's 8", and I hope, I *HOPE* you watch it, because so few reactors on RUclips ever actually react to it. It's one of the best in the franchise.
No it isn't. It turned woke and started making girl power movies. It's almost like women have to be immortal gods in movies and TV because you're trash in real life.
@@BaldingSince1999Woke is when girls happen, right? I always get confused about all the different meanings of woke. Get some help buddy, you sound awfully pathetic
the oceans series is my favorite series for sure. i think this one has the strongest plot, but i like the character interactions even more in the following movies. also man are they fun and stylish, just fun as heck
I assume by the end, it became obvious that Danny *wanted* Tess and Terry to see him, and that him being "red flagged" in the casino was intentional, as well. Danny basically set himself up as a diversion - Benedict was focused on him the whole time.
The rest of the series are all just as good. This is one of the funniest of films I've ever watched. Your reaction and anticipations were so fun to watch. Be safe.
Actually, this movie was a remake of one make in the 60's with Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean. In that original version, the fact that they had 11 as the team made sense.
It's crazy to see someone watch this for the first time. I watched this in the theatre at a very formative time in my life. It's totally a comfort watch for me.
Interesting fact about the boxing match in the movie. These are 2 real boxers and both are world heavyweight champions, at the time they were going to fight and the filming in this episode was intended as a good promotion to warm up people's interest. Unfortunately the fight did not take place, one of the boxers decided to end his career
Many years ago I was in a casino in the Bahamas when the power went out. There was no chaos and nobody started scrambling for chips. The dealers kept order and a pit boss came around with a flashlight. The hand on the table was played out and then the entire table was covered with a huge plexiglass dome-like thing. The pit boss went from table to table and slowly everyone left.
I'm so glad you enjoyed Ocean's 11!! The original trilogy is one I really hold close to my heart (though 8 is awesome too! Hoping they eventually continue it). I highly recommend checking out Ocean's 12 and 13 too, there's something about growing more attached to these characters movie after movie... the nostalgia factor definitely does play a role. This entire trilogy is just so enjoyable. The amount of quotable moments is incredible.
This was a fun reaction, Nat, to one of my favorite movies! There’s so much good stuff here, I kept expecting reacts to certain scenes I love, but there’s SO MUCH going on it’s impossible to clip everything-will definitely have to check out the uncut someday!
My dad and I used to go see movies together as a hobby and I remember we were particularly hyped for the second one when it came out because the first one was so good, and it lives up to the hype.

Fun fact, the scene where we're introduced to Julia Roberts' character of Tess, Julia couldn't stop smiling/laughing coming down the stairs to Brad Pitt & Matt Damon in every take, and I believe, she eventually did the take bare foot, but even in the scene used for the movie, you can see her trying to hide a smile/laugh.
Ocean's 11 (and it's sequels) are part of a great Genre with an impressive lineup! There's "The Italian Job", "Now you see me (1 and 2, 3 is in the works)" and "6 Underground"... Pick ANY of them and you got a great movie night in store!
13:35 Highs AND Lows are INEVITABLE, no matter who you are with. some of the best friends I've ever had in my life, we started out disliking or even hating each other, until one day we both finally figured each other out and came to respect one another (usually via some sort of confrontation). That doesn't mean extreme lows are ok, but that some lows are inevitable, and can actually strengthen a relationship over time if handled properly.
i loved this movie when i was younger , i would watch it all the time with my pops. i never really watched the second and third movie so im excited to watch it with you when ever u get around to it
I'd say a great winter film (maybe for a more sombre day) is Manchester By the Sea. Casey Affleck (one of the Malloy twins) is incredible and so is Michelle Williams! Haven't seen any other reactions of it so far, so it'd be great to see
For those who like/love this movie I would really recommend Logan Lucky (2017) which was made by the same director and is also a fantastic heist film with a different but brilliant cast, Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Riley Keough and Daniel Craig who plays essentially a criminal version of Benoit Blanc (more or less) 😂
Nobody thought that this "Rat Pack" classic would be revamped into a franchise. I saw the 1960's original before the remake came out. Also it re-established the 'Heist Comedy' that the original had first introduced. Great cast. One of the best ensembles ever. They all had such a good time working together. Going by the 'behind the scenes' footage and interviews. The most recent installment was the spinoff, Ocean's 8 (2018) and it was unexpectedly good. But definitely work your way through Ocean's 12 & 13. RIP to the legends, Bernie Mac (Frank Catton), Carl Reiner (Saul Bloom) and Jerry Weintraub (main producer of the Ocean's Trilogy, 2001-2007).
This whole series of movies was fun for the cast but one of the bts facts is that this was where a lot of the cast really got into pranking each other. Brad and George went for years trying to one up each other. If you check out some of the interviews that they did (like Graham Norton) George tells some really messed up stuff that he did.
I had no idea you were also an actor, until you mentioned it & then i had to look up your filmography. It's fun to watch your reactions to scenes as an insider of the industry.
This reaction was so much fun. Whispering into the mic "...I think that's good" I have no idea how to play poker either Nat, and I don't think I ever will 😂
They actually added Yen inguring his hand because they were realizing during shooting that things were just going too smoothly and they felt like they needed to add some tension.

@@axr7149 Well, that explains that!
The cast and plot is amazing. I think you’ll like this film and trilogy. Brad had his character eat because he was filming the whole time. Enjoy gorgeous!
The smile on my face when I see these good movies being reacted to 😁😁
This series is actually damn near perfection. With the direction, casts, writing, production and music all tied up in a very shiny bow. I like the 4th movie in the series the most but as stated before, you can just have these movies on in the background and still know all the good lines.
Matt Damon during the meet with Matsui is one of the funniest things ever.
Danny's schemes are all about stage magic - a flashy distraction (often himself) while his crew pulls the real heist - sometimes the distraction is a double one, both Danny _and_ the more known members of the crew. You never know which with them. His sister is just like him. I suspect they learned to pull heists from the same people.
one of my all time favorite trilogies! the ocean's movies are so much fun
And like all good trilogies, it has four parts!
I must have watched oceans trilogy about a hundred times. At first I didn’t like 12, but it grew on me.
@@brucemc1581it's at least got a great soundtrack, I love the Nightfox character
12 is very memorable to many people. Especially Vincent Cassel's Nightfox.
Couple things:
(01.) "Ocean's Eleven" is actually a second collaboration between George Clooney and director Steven Soderbergh.
Also, it is directed by Steven Soderbergh, who did the oceans movies
'L. A.Confidential' is excellent, but it is James Ellroy not Elmore Leonard.
@@dannyheel1 Quite right, my mistake.
Ocean's Eleven 1960 is the original movie staring the rat pack.
This is my favorite movie of all time & I’m always excited to see someone react to it on RUclips, especially one of my favorite reactors.
Infinitely rewatchable. One of the best heist movies ever made.
Great choice! Love all three of the recent Ocean's movies. So much style.
This whole franchise, including Ocean's 8 is fantastic! I rewatch all 4 movies several times a year.
8 isn't a boys club. It's a club for robbing casinos and women are never good at anything. They are literally the distraction
@@davidmcleod51338 was soulless and boring
Over the years after 11 came out, I realized I am actually a sucker for proper heist films. So when 12 and 13 came out I was immediately in line for it. I couldn't catch 8, I was moving abroad.
Oh c'mon. 8 is much weaker
Love this film not only because it is peak Clooney but it also drew me to films like Gravity and the Departed.
Sandra Bullock is in "Ocean's 8", and I hope, I *HOPE* you watch it, because so few reactors on RUclips ever actually react to it. It's one of the best in the franchise.
This whole series is great! The chemistry with the cast is perfect.
No it isn't. It turned woke and started making girl power movies. It's almost like women have to be immortal gods in movies and TV because you're trash in real life.
@@BaldingSince1999Aren't we the ANGRY 😡 one? Geez, dude. They're just movies!!!
Get help...
@@BaldingSince1999Woke is when girls happen, right?
I always get confused about all the different meanings of woke.
Get some help buddy, you sound awfully pathetic
@vincentsablan732 Yeah he's angry, but he's right
@@justinpeck6015 I respectfully disagree. But, at least you're cool about it. Comin' in hot is just askin' for an argument...
Cheers.
This is one of my favourite films, I can watch this over and over and not get bored. I'm so glad you reacted to it!
OMG THIS IS LITERALLY MY FAV MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!
That ensemble is top 3 easy out of any movies imo. They work so good with each other.
the oceans series is my favorite series for sure. i think this one has the strongest plot, but i like the character interactions even more in the following movies.
also man are they fun and stylish, just fun as heck
Genuinely one of my favorite movies, and the entire series is worth seeing. Yes, even Ocean's Eight (if you lower your expectations)
Burn after reading is also a good movie with Pitt/Clooney! :D
I always love rewatching this movie. Probably my all time favorite heist film - along with Ocean's Thirteen and Kelly's Heroes.
Looking back, my favorite thing about this movie is how everyone in las vegas helps danny because they have admiration for him
Literally watch this series of movies EVERY time they are on TV. They are so good
all 3 of these movies are great . hope you keep watching.
Ocean's 12 is really good too!!
I assume by the end, it became obvious that Danny *wanted* Tess and Terry to see him, and that him being "red flagged" in the casino was intentional, as well. Danny basically set himself up as a diversion - Benedict was focused on him the whole time.
great choice of film! hope you see the others in the series as well. 12 is my favourite and near perfect imo
The rest of the series are all just as good. This is one of the funniest of films I've ever watched.
Your reaction and anticipations were so fun to watch.
Be safe.
Great reaction Nat. Please continue with the rest of the Ocean's movies
Actually, this movie was a remake of one make in the 60's with Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean. In that original version, the fact that they had 11 as the team made sense.
Highly recommend 12 and 13. A great and fun series
Unfortunately the fight did not take place, one of the boxers decided to end his career
i watched Ocean's Eleven myself for the first time a few months ago. Now it has become one of my fave films.
My dad and I used to go see movies together as a hobby and I remember we were particularly hyped for the second one when it came out because the first one was so good, and it lives up to the hype.
may i ask how worth the mic and mixer are? i've been thinking of buying some new gear and your equipment seems like the way to go.
Been a long minute since I've hit the Gold Line. SO fun to see you in this space, in this place. 💜💜 to you and yours. again and again the room is brighter when you enter.
The three Ocean movies are great. So much fun to rewatch.
Im surprised anyone who has cable/sat hasnt seen it, it feels like it was always on after it released, kinda got tired of it, now its been years since i seen it last and can appreciate it again :)
I’m just about ready to watch and I’ve watched a lot of your reactions. I’m looking forward to this because I think you’re going to have a blast watching. You’re adorable ❤
8:10 et seq: The dog track was Derby Lane, until Florida got rid of greyhound racing. Now it's a poker room, and the former track is sealed off.
I really love this movie for so many reasons!
My favorite movie was Kill Bill for a long time. As I’ve gotten older, Ocean’s 11 has become my favorite movie.
18:00 Natalie's little giggles are so adorable...love it🥰😁
Hey Natalie you gotta check out Oceans 12 and 13 along with the tv show Leverage you'll love them all
This movie is a lot of fun. My favorite heist movie is "Heat" from 1995. It's a masterpiece.
That doesn't mean extreme lows are ok, but that some lows are inevitable, and can actually strengthen a relationship over time if handled properly.
dude one of my possibly favorite movie series COMBINED with one of my fav commentary channels. christmas came early!!!
i loved this movie when i was younger , i would watch it all the time with my pops. i never really watched the second and third movie so im excited to watch it with you when ever u get around to it
OMG this is one of my favorites! I use to watch on repeat! George, Brad & Matt in one movie 😍
I'd say a great winter film (maybe for a more sombre day) is Manchester By the Sea. Casey Affleck (one of the Malloy twins) is incredible and so is Michelle Williams! Haven't seen any other reactions of it so far, so it'd be great to see
Definitely do the whole series. Maybe google made a mistake about Sandra Bullock because she's in the 4th one, which is Ocean's 8
The most recent installment was the spinoff,
Ocean's 8 (2018) and it was unexpectedly good.
But definitely work your way through Ocean's 12 & 13.
RIP to the legends, Bernie Mac (Frank Catton), Carl Reiner (Saul Bloom) and
Jerry Weintraub (main producer of the Ocean's Trilogy, 2001-2007).
Nice reaction Natalie!
You called a lot of amazing things in this movie
I can tell that you are a total blast to watch movies with 😎
What I love the most about this franchise is how absolutely slick their heists are.
Whispering into the mic "...I think that's good" I have no idea how to play poker either Nat, and I don't think I ever will 😂
My dad's favorite movie. Just the definition of "fun time at the movies"
Ok now you have to watch Bullet train! 🚄
One of my comfort movies, easy viewing 😊
I really think you would like the movie Oceans 8 with Sandra Bullock playing Danny Ocean's sister. All female cast. Great movie.
They actually added Yen inguring his hand because they were realizing during shooting that things were just going too smoothly and they felt like they needed to add some tension.
For those who enjoyed Clooney is this film check out Out of Sight with Jennifer Lopez, same vibe. Oceans 12 is also a personal fave.
