He actually isn't endorsing crimes - as he says, criminals aren't always the brightest - drug dealers, etc. They're probably going to use a technique off a YT vid, and also the cop is making the YT vid... It's like giving a key to a combination safe you own. The actual use of these techniques will get you got, not the other way round.

I like that he mentions how, even if you don't use violence, you're still scarring someone for life. I have family members who were robbed at gunpoint and they have diagnosed PTSD complete with flashbacks even though they came away without a scratch on them. Yeah real fun until his world crashes in on you and either someone he robbed or owes money to comes to your family with a vengeance. Or the feds catch on and suck you into it, staking out your place, interrogating you and making you feel like you’re guilty of something just because your family member is who they are, then they try to use you against them and that’s a whole other kind of guilt. Not to mention the embarrassment when it goes around town your family has a criminal in it. Everyone starts looking at you differently. Friends, gf, neighbors, people you see on a daily basis. Had an uncle like that. He was really cool and trust me was the favorite uncle, until he wasn’t. Then it was just a nightmare for us, even long after he went to jail.

As a former 7-11 worker I can say that yes they don't want you to fight back. It's in our training to just give them what they want. I almost got fired for disarming the guy who tried to rob me one night, fight or flight kicked in. You never know how you're going to react when someone has a gun against your head until you experience the situation yourself.

The thing about robberies too, is that you don't wanna get involved with anyone who's the "loose cannon" type. Yes, you need fear and intimidation which normally keeps people in line, but in a lot of robberies when they walk in and start throwing people around, you can almost bet they'd be willing to screw over their whole crew or resort to violence regardless of the outcome. There's been a lot of cases where bank robbers have harmed people even after they got what they came for. At that point, you have more charges and it's honestly a liability. Most successful unsolved robberies were ones where not a single shot was fired or a single person harmed.

I think in The Thomas Crown Affair he did it because it was satisfying to see if he could do it, and how well he could plan it, and carry it out. Testing your skills is great motivation. Feeling like you are smarter than everyone else, then wanting to prove it, seems like a possible reason.

I think that in "Heat" you CAN see how heavy those bags are and that the robbers are actually struggling. Maybe the actors don't have to carry 70 pounds but not 10 either. I'd be surprised to find that Michael Mann hadn't thought of that aspect, that's a director who makes you repeat a scene if the sound of the clothes hangers is not to his liking.

In the movie “Snatch” the reason that one guy had all the guns is so that ALL of them didn’t get beeped on the metal detector. If you watch the beginning, the security guard is scanning them all, and the last guy (with the guns) is scanned, he just looks at the security guard and is like “what do you want me to do, drop my pants?” He just let’s him through.
They play it up in "Ocean's 11" that Benedict's the kind of guy who'll kill you and anyone you know if he finds out about you, and that's why no one snitches, 'cause they won't be getting a "reward", they'll just be strung up alongside the others.

Well, you need to look up his channel, especially prison series. I bet most of the people will lose any interest in robberies real quick. Some of the stories that he witnessed and even happened to him are so horrifying and outlandish, that it'll make any sane person the most law-abiding citizen ever.
Look at his channel... he’s a genuinely good guy who did his time, helped other inmates, and left that life behind to help prevent crime. By him vocalizing his methods (mind you HE ROBBED STORES IN THE 90s so out dated) but it still does more to prevent crime by vocalizing how he did it.
I think he summed it up best with "criminals are generally pretty stupid". Relying on these tricks alone might get you a score, but the cops and/or fbi will find you pretty quick, because they know these tricks too

It’s just common sense that if you want to rob something with people around, unless it’s an inside job, you’re going to need to scare people into doing what you say. What Lawton pointed out about "Ocean's 11" was the big problem I had with the movie: There was WAY too many people involved. If you paid attention, most of the 11 came across as arrogant asshats who, if they didn't blab before the heist would afterwards eventually brag to everyone they knew about how cool it was and how cool they were. Additionally, there was a hundred things that could have gone wrong, any one of which would have blown up the whole thing.

Watch Larry’s channel where he tells stories about his experience in prison. That by itself is the biggest disclaimer about why you shouldn’t do crime.
That is actually a great way to catch more criminals. Those with less practice trying to do it will stand out more because now they will be following a pattern so familiar to law enforcers. So, either way, no harm done (at least not to the good guys).

Check out his channel. He actually is a genuinely good guy. He was abused by the prison system because he became a paralegal to help inmates with grievances against the institutions.
He is a good guy, his story is insane, he got abused by a priest in his childhood which now with psychological help seems to might be the root of many of his problems

As a former 7-11 worker I can say that yes they don't want you to fight back. It's in our training to just give them what they want. I almost got fired for disarming the guy who tried to rob me one night, fight or flight kicked in. You never know how you're going to react when someone has a gun against your head until you experience the situation yourself.

The thing about robberies too, is that you don't wanna get involved with anyone who's the "loose cannon" type. Yes, you need fear and intimidation which normally keeps people in line, but in a lot of robberies when they walk in and start throwing people around, you can almost bet they'd be willing to screw over their whole crew or resort to violence regardless of the outcome. There's been a lot of cases where bank robbers have harmed people even after they got what they came for. At that point, you have more charges and it's honestly a liability. Most successful unsolved robberies were ones where not a single shot was fired or a single person harmed.

I think that in "Heat" you CAN see how heavy those bags are and that the robbers are actually struggling. Maybe the actors don't have to carry 70 pounds but not 10 either. I'd be surprised to find that Michael Mann hadn't thought of that aspect, that's a director who makes you repeat a scene if the sound of the clothes hangers is not to his liking.

In the movie “Snatch” the reason that one guy had all the guns is so that ALL of them didn’t get beeped on the metal detector. If you watch the beginning, the security guard is scanning them all, and the last guy (with the guns) is scanned, he just looks at the security guard and is like “what do you want me to do, drop my pants?” He just let’s him through.

Well, you need to look up his channel, especially prison series. I bet most of the people will lose any interest in robberies real quick. Some of the stories that he witnessed and even happened to him are so horrifying and outlandish, that it'll make any sane person the most law-abiding citizen ever.
As a writer, it’s pretty useful!
Look at his channel... he’s a genuinely good guy who did his time, helped other inmates, and left that life behind to help prevent crime.
By him vocalizing his methods (mind you HE ROBBED STORES IN THE 90s so out dated) but it still does more to prevent crime by vocalizing how he did it.
I think he summed it up best with "criminals are generally pretty stupid". Relying on these tricks alone might get you a score, but the cops and/or fbi will find you pretty quick, because they know these tricks too

What Lawton pointed out about "Ocean's 11" was the big problem I had with the movie: There was WAY too many people involved. If you paid attention, most of the 11 came across as arrogant asshats who, if they didn't blab before the heist would afterwards eventually brag to everyone they knew about how cool it was and how cool they were. Additionally, there was a hundred things that could have gone wrong, any one of which would have blown up the whole thing.

That is actually a great way to catch more criminals. Those with less practice trying to do it will stand out more because now they will be following a pattern so familiar to law enforcers. So, either way, no harm done (at least not to the good guys).

He's said before that his biggest regret in his criminal career was that he caused fear.
Check out his channel. He actually is a genuinely good guy. He was abused by the prison system because he became a paralegal to help inmates with grievances against the institutions.
He is a good guy, his story is insane, he got abused by a priest in his childhood which now with psychological help seems to might be the root of many of his problems
@@dummkopf7981 yeah as he said he is robbing insurance companies not the people so i don't think he actually feel guilty for that... I'm not saying that he don't feel guilty but knowing that no innocent person is harmed is relief.
