You dont have a hydra surplus... you have a dwarf crawfish deficit.
    Thanks for stopping by!

Battling my 2nd outbreak of hydra. They reappeared after I started feeding fry with infusoria, microworms and artemia. The dog dewormer Axilur worked last time, but it remains in the tank substrate for good. Introduced nerite snails after 6 months of the treatment with bad results.

scalor I have not had any recurrences in tanks I’ve treated with Planaria Zero.

I had the same thing happen with nerite snails. I had my first experience with planaria and treated the tank with the dog dewormer.. after a month or two I introduced nerite snails and now I have none😭 I didn't know how long it stayed in the substrate.lessons learned!!👍🙏

If I ever see these little things at least I'll know what I'm dealing with 🤞🙏 thanks for sharing Bob! 💚🌿🐟🌱

Had an outbreak when feeding live BBS to kribensis fry. Used fenbendazole under the name "Panacur" (in powder form) at 0.1 gm per 10 gallons. Treated once, & no hydra seen after 48 hours..... its been 1 mo now & still no hydra.

I have well over 100 German ram fry in my tank and I’m scared to dose anything to kill the hydra. Will my fry be okay if I dose my tank?

I occasionally find planarians on my tank glass. Tried many cures but one that I find works best is Chore Boys copper scrubbers. I just place two in the tank and the next day no signs of any on the glass.

Championship Show Guppies would a copper based medication be safe for shrimp?

Sonny’s Fish Room that I’m not sure about as in only maintaining guppies. I guess it depends whether shrimp are tolerant to copper.

Championship Show Guppies Yeah, it looks like they’re sensitive to it: aquariumbreeder.com/how-copper-affects-dwarf-shrimp/

Hey. Was wondering if you could help me out here. I found a few hydra in my Daphnia tank. It's filled with live foods for my fish. There are some in my main tank as well, but that's not a big concern as the medication won't hurt anything else in there, sans the assassin snails.. but my main concern is my feeder tank. Will this medication kill my daphnia? Bloodworms? Seed shrimp? Cyclops? Detritus worms? And some other i have no idea what they are floating and swimming around in my tank. Oddly, this feeder tank has no planaria, but my main tank does.

southnyourmind unfortunately, I don’t know for sure. If I had to get, the inverts would be at risk. It also depends on which medication you treat with. Can you move some of the daphnia and other organisms you’re concerned about to a smaller tank and test the treatment on them? This way, if the medication is harmful, you won’t lose them all.

I’ve never heard of them bothering people. Check with a doctor.
