Toy Association Talks 1980s Cabbage Patch Kids Toy Craze on WCBS

The Toy Association's Adrienne Appell, executive vice president of marketing communications, joined WCBS New York on Nov. 27 to discuss how toy shopping trends have shifted since the Cabbage Patch Kids holiday craze on 1983.

My sister in law went through that madness to get my niece a cabbage patch doll. Sans the fighting, pushing and yelling. She took three girlfriends with her and they all split up and positioned themselves in different spots. One of them was a able to get a doll. Mission accomplished!
My niece still has the doll.

It's kind of sad, though, when a parent says their kid's Christmas would've been "destroyed" if they didn't get a Tickle-Me-Elmo (or whatever). Part of that is on you, lady--you raised them that way.
