    You missed the Hobby Plus CR-24 alloy shocks! They are super easy to mount using the stock tops and bottoms. I use the stock springs in them, too. The tops thread on and the bottoms have to be drilled out slightly. In that configuration, they have an extended length of 45mm and a compressed length of 30.5mm. That is 14.5mm of travel. More importantly, the travel is 32.2% of the shock's length. By comparison, the Carisma oil shocks (in stock form) are 50mm extended and 36.5mm compressed for only 13.5mm of travel. That is 1mm less than the CR-24's and just 27% of the shock length. IMO, if you're looking for travel and pre-load adjustment, avoid the Carisma oil shocks and get the CR-24 alloy shocks. If you have a lot of sprung mass (e.g. hard body) and need actual dampening, get the Carisma's oil shocks.

    FWIW, The injora shocks also don't work. They bind up because the machining is rough. They catch as they try to go in and out, and if there is any angle pressure, like in literally any real-life crawling situation, they catch and snag and don't let the suspension move freely. The only way they'll work is if you spend the time polishing the moving parts to make them move smoothly.

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  2 года назад +1

      Yeah the injoras hadn’t even been made when I made this vid. Honestly when I made this video there was hot racing aluminum shocks and these that were available for these things. Now there are way better options but the original double barrels by kinetic are a better quality imo even though I don’t use them anymore due to other options being available. Don’t buy any mofo shocks or you’ll really be upset with the binding 😆 Most people run the double barrels upside down and it helps a bit but they have to be aligned straight up and down or they do wanna bind up from time to time. Mine never were worse than any other shock I’ve ran though. I have a couple sets of mofo oil shocks that won’t move at all!

      @@2fmrc ok, so I took them completely apart, chucked each part up in a drill, and polished them. Polished the shafts with 1200 grit wet/dry paper then tried to break the sharp edges on the "piston," then polished with scotch brite, still in the drill. Then did the plastic parts just with fine scotch brite only. Then mounted them as you suggested, upside down, only one o-ring on each pivot ball, and spacers to push them out and straighten them up a bit. They seem to work pretty well like that, just took time to get them into shape.

    Thank you for the overview of shocks. Much appreciated!
    Im looking for some new ones.
    Ive got 2 trucks with the blue HR internal spring aluminium shocks (43mm). Discontinued i think.
    They had poor quality control, but if you got some good ones, and keep the shock mounts stable, then they are pretty good.
    Put an aluminum 1/8" tube between the shock mounts, it helps.
    I was thinking those OME (Emu) shocks, but they're just too fat.
    Im hoping someone will step up to the plate!

    • @2fmrc

      Some will screw straight on and some will need some spacers or something to keep the screw from popping through the shock eyelet. Shouldn’t really require any drilling or anything. I haven’t drilled any of mine. I did have to use some spacers and different screws on a set or two but most are pretty straight forward. Have you checked my video on the kinetic shock upgrade?
