I absolutely love when you talk in this video about putting one of these bad boys on your wrist for the first time. I am not a high roller, I am just a regular guy that loves watches. It all started when I was a kid and my grandfather was a truck driver. He wore your basic dept store watch on a leather band, and when he would come home he would take it off and joke with me how white his skin was under his watch as opposed to how tan the rest of his arm was from hanging out the truck window all day. I have been blessed to be able to work hard and have a Tudor Black Bay and a Brietling Colt Skyracer quartz (love), with a dream of a Rolex Datejust. While out Christmas shopping a month ago I stopped in a Rolex dealer just for the fun of it, and tried on a 41mm Datejust. Feeling that thing slip on my wrist has just lit a fire under me to work even harder and make that dream become a reality with in the next year or two! Fun side note: I wish when I walked in the dealer I was being filmed. I started looking at the Tissot watches and a salesman came up to me and chatted a bit. When I went to the Rolex case he gave me the old well of you need anything let me know, and walked away from me. A few minutes later, from across the room, another salesman walks up and the first words out of his mouth are I see you’re wearing a Tudor Black Bay....he noticed it from across the room! He proceeded to ask me if there was anything at all he can show me! HA!

Just wanted to say a couple things as a relatively recent sub: First, I am so glad someone like yourself has appeared on YT, its like finding a kindred spirit. Its cool to see someone serious about personal style, care little for fashion, and who loves the simple and traditional looks while bucking the highly arbitrary rules that often pair with them. Second, I just found out you studied music at Hopkins, and I just started grad school there and I think that's really cool that you're an alum of my uni!
I bought my first Rolex (36mm datejust with the silver dial on the oysterbracelet and pre-owned) two months ago and I'm absolutely happy. It took my over a year to make up my mind which one to buy. your vidoes helped me a lot. thank you
most people in modern times view and treat ROLEX Datejust as a dress watch but if u know the history and the specs (waterproof to 100m) , datejust is always suppose to be a SPORTS WATCH (as well as being a Dress watch )
True! If the Datejust model was offered by any other brand they would class it as a sports watch within thier range (think AP Royal Oak, Lange Odysseus, Patek Philippe Nautilus etc). Steel, 100 meter water resistance and date function etc. I think the fact that there is so much hype around the Rolex "professional" line (Subs and GMTs) means everything else is automatically viewed as "dress". They have a dedicated dress line, the Cellini. The different combinations/sizes can make a specific Datejust lean dressy/sporty. I happen to own the new ref 126234 36mm black dial fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. Imo its a very dressy sports watch. But I guess you could argue its a very sporty dress watch? I don't know and therein lies its beauty!
Classy! I turned 41 today and went through some of my old stuff at my mom’s house today, and I found my early 1990’s Timex two tone quartz that I rocked for a summer when I was 12. Battery died, and i just threw it in a drawer for almost 30 years. Took it out, went to walgreens and bought a battery, popped it in, and now I’m blingin. It looks just like your Rolex, but two tone with an Oyster bracelet. Found another one in used condition on ebay for 17 bucks. It’s an everyday watch now. My special occasion watch is a 1968 Omega Constellation in gold. Worth like 3k. Nothing crazy.
Bought my Rolex DateJust blue dial oyster band back in 1998, walked into the San Diego Ben Bridge jewelry store, they had a few Rolexes datejust listed for 3k at the time. It took me awhile to decide which one looked best on my wrist because they all looked beautiful but finally settled on the blue dial. I asked the sale lady if I can purchased it for $2,750 out the door if I pay cash? She called their head quarter in Seattle and within 10 mins she said sure. I still own the beautiful timepiece but rarely wear it, after watching this video I’m gonna have to wear mine more often, such a classic beautiful timepiece.
First of all that Timex Is super cool! The Datejust is a great choice especially with that jubilee bracelet and “hidden” clasp. It’s also nice that you explain why you went for a new one instead of going pre owned. I was considering a pre owned Datejust for my 30th birthday but I feel the prices have gone up a little too much in the last few years.
Thanks! Always the case with prices. I have always regretted waiting and waiting and waiting if it was something I really wanted. Case in point are pre-owned Explorer IIs. When I first started wanting one they were around $5k pre-owned but not they're around $8-9k.
He Spoke Style you have a valid point. I just wonder if there will be a breaking point when it comes to value increase in the next few years? Having said that, I’ve got five more months to decide...(for now I’m more and more attracted by Grand Seiko).
Glad the RUclips algorithm brought me here. I have several sports watches inc. Rolex sub 116610ln. I was looking for a dress watch last year and I looked at Rolex Datejust 36mm too. But eventually I picked up a pre-owned Breguet Classique 5907BA full set for less the price of a brand new 36mm Datejust. Extremely happy. Congrats for your first luxury watch! You can never go wrong with a Rolex as your first luxury watch. Try pre-owned market in the future, you can find some extremely prestigious watches (such as a solid gold Breguet) for some amazingly "low" price.
Excellent choice and especially in the silver dial with the Jubilee. This combination is exactly what I’m planning for my next watch. It has a certain understated and timeless beauty. Although the new Speedmaster that just debuted has my attention as well! Your watch content is what brought me to your channel and since then my fashion game has gone up! Love your channel.
Awesome story. I am definitely eyeing the Datejust as my first Rolex, and I look forward to the day when I can finally walk out of the AD with one on my wrist.
I can really relate to your reasoning for buying a new instead of second-hand. There's just something else in knowing it's only mine. That's a gorgeous watch, you've made a great decision IMHO. A great start to the fun (and pricey...) journey that is luxury watches.
Loving it. My favorite thing about the Datejust is that it is at once infinitely versatile but also incredibly personal (owing to the dozens if not hundreds of dial / bezel / bracelet variants). It's the one watch in that price range I can comfortably recommend to anyone, with zero worry that they'll regret it later down the line. If you had to have one piece for the rest of your life, you could certainly do worse.
That's a beautiful watch and you right about that first feeling of buying, wearing a Rolex for the first time. For me it instantly gave me the sense of achievement and me reaching a milestone in my life. It is a beautiful piece to reward your journey.
Thanks so much for this video. Took me years to get around to buying my Datejust. But I've never regretted it and it still gets lots of wrist time. Everything about it just seems right. I went with the 36, domed bezel, oyster bracelet, and the silver and light grey "tuxedo" dial. It's so beautiful. But the jubilee with the facetted bezel is just an inarguable combo. Classic
I too bought a new 36 datejust rolex 126231 as a retirement gift to myself, paying it all at once so im not charged any interest. Everose with Roman numerals and diamonds at the 6 and 9 indices on a jubilee. I love the two-tone look. Now, the good thing about getting it after a $600 watch is thinking about the money you saved not first stopping off at a $2000 or $3000 watch in between those 2 purchases. I went from a nice 36mm marine star bulova with a white dial to the rolex. I prefer smaller cases (40mm or less) because I have small wrists.
After listening to your story, I really want to get the dayjust as my second luxury watch as my 25th birthday. My first luxury watch that i really like is the omega speedmaster day date with the moonphase.
Gorgeous watch and an excellent choice for a first luxury watch. This video is resonating with me because I recently purchased my first not too long ago, a vintage DJ 16234 with a blue dial and stick markers. Hasn't left my wrist ever since and I intend to wear the shit out of it until I die.
Love it ! I’ve just bought a DJ 41 with Blue dial and Oyster Bracelet as my 1st Rolex, I really like the 36 but the 41 looked better to me on my 7.5 inch wrist
Whatever you do, don't ever get rid of your date just. Every Rolex I sold to upgrade towards my next Rolex I was sorry that I sold. My day date36mm yellow gold. That won't be sold along with my GMT. These are keepers. Wearing Rolex's since 1967 And always been happy. Today 1/9/21 FedEx will be delivering my new omega planet ocean 39.5m first omega I've ever owned. A good choice the DJ 36.
My first "nice" watch was also Rolex Datejust 36mm 116234 - it was a wedding gift from my wife. I still remember the time we went to a Rolex boutique and put it on my wrist. Amazing watch.
Glad to see I wasn’t the only one not confused about this jubilee with a hidden clasp. Just purchased mine from my AD with and it doesn’t have a hidden clasp. But now wish it does. It looks so much more sleek and refine.
Great story and beautiful watch! You need to try a square g shock though. I always thought they were ugly until I bought one and the experience is fantastic. It’s my everyday quarantine watch since my office is closed.
Square G Shock is the most classic imo. I got my Datejust in 36mm, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet and my G Shock square (5600) It's barely left my wrist during quarantine!
This story, as well as your stories about the timex, the swatch, and even the fake Gucci, make you an ideal guest on the Talking Watches series. Oh, and let's not forget the insane collection you have.
Hey Brian! So I know that your primary brand revolves around fashion/style but I have to say that this episode touched me and I think is now my favorite - mostly because I could totally relate to it (well maybe except for the cat/money pic! Hilarious!) First though, I must say, the best line is "I am who I am". Words to live by! :D I was in a very similar situation 8 years ago after the tech company I worked for had a successful IPO - I really wanted to celebrate that milestone with my first lux watch. I, like you, did extensive research as I knew NOTHING about any of it but am so glad I took the time to learn. Doing that is what allows me to have ZERO regrets to this day about my choice - which was the other watch you were pondering...the Submariner. I have a collection of 6 watches now and I love them all for different reasons, but my first will always have a special place in my heart. Plus, it's just an undeniably iconic, cool watch. Congrats on making that big leap with your first all those years ago. I love the Datejust! The jubilee bracelet and the fluted bezel are what really turn me on - I guess I like drama. lol
Great video. I'm in the journey as you stated and at a point considering my first DJ. I'm leaning to 36 than 41 but unfortunately can't try any not available at local AD. You mentioned yours is 6.5 inch wrist and I have 170mm / 6.7 inch. Hoping the 36 would be a better fit.
Fabulous time piece!! Great size. My first "luxury" watch was very similar to this DJ. I opted for a GS SBGR251. Also bought it to mark a professional milestone. Cheers!
Great video, Brian. Loved the backstory as we have similar watch journeys. Mine was Swatch to Citizen to Omega. That first purchase took a lot of research before pulling the trigger similar to your story.
My first luxury watch is the original Tudor Black Bay 58 which I bought 7 months ago. My first Rolex is the Explorer 1 mk2 which I bought early last week. Both are amazing pieces.
Started my Rolex journey with a Submariner date in 2007 which I have worn every day since, until I picked up my Datejust Wimbledon two tone a month ago. Finally invited to order a steel Daytona “Panda”. I must be on the family list now!
I have that same J Crew Timex that I found at a thrift shop for $2. I have a handful of relatively expensive watches, but this cheap timex feels so good to wear.
I stopped to wear watch with metal bracelet (cause of the feeling). I only use leather on my cartier. Is the jubilee has the same feeling that an leather ? Thanks 😊
Awesome video and beautiful watch! I just put down a deposit on my DJ41, white gold, slate dial, fluted bezel on a oyster bracelet. Cannot wait for the call... the AD sound it would be ready in about a month. This will be my first Rolex as well :)
After I eventually get a BB58, all I ask for is a nice DJ as a birthyear piece. Haven't bothered to narrow down a specific bezel, dial, bracelet style. I'll figure that out when I get there.
Great piece! Quintessential Rolex. It’s clear that the piece has meaning to you. I Recently picked up the DJ 41 (7 3/8 wrist) Dark Rhodium, fluted on oyster. I love the integrated clasp your DJ has on the jubilee. Btw, I love the occasional watch content sprinkled into your normal style vids!
after watching your video, I have my eye out your exact watch with the oyster bracelet though would settle for a jubilee. Hoping to find one in the pre-owned market! I don’t need it to be my own story like you did, but I also would fear truly wearing a brand new version of it, as I hate causing imperfections in things I like to take care of. So preowned I would have more mental flexibility for and dings or scratches. I once chipped the plastic on a pair of sunglasses I owned, I was so upset with myself, I put them in their case, went to a friends house and buried the glasses in the back of his closet and left them there for 3 years.. I’m just getting into high end watches, so this won’t be my first purchase but we’ll get there ⚡️
Such classy watch and you tell the story behind it very well! It reminds me of my first luxury watch purchase, Seamaster 300. All the research, anticipation and finally achieving a goal, a milestone in away. Fantastic! Cheers 🥂
When deciding on this, did you think you would miss the “champagne” patina of the vintage dials? I am so close to pulling the trigger on a new model DJ (36, fluted, jub, silver dial) but I’m scared I’ll miss out on the champagne of the vintage. Any thoughts? Thank you!
I did the same in october. 1st rolex and decided on the DJ for many of the reasons you mentioned. I swear the jubilee bracelet is the most comfortable of any watch I've ever own....blue face but I chose the Roman numerals...gave it that day date feel with our the 30k price tag haha.
Rolex are great watches and the are also beautiful. While I cannot afford a A Lange & Sooner, I could afford a Rolex. Over the years I was able to purchase three Rolex models, two Breitling models, and an Omega. I also have a Tag Heuer as my daily driver. After watching this video, I’ve decided that I would also like a Datejust or a DayDatejust with a Jubilee bracelet and the bezel like you bought. We’ll see if my wife goes along with my retiree dreams, and if nothing else I’ll just watch your video again!
Just purchased the same watch for my wife! Only difference is the size. Got her a 26mm datejust for the arrival of our first child! One small note- what are your thoughts on the super jubilee vs the clasp? I really like the super. Looks more elegant and I love the small hidden crown detail rather than a chunky clasp. Your thoughts?
I feel like I've been through the exact same process that ended by me buying the new OP 36 3 weeks ago. I also did a video (in to present the watch and explain my own process (it's in French, so not for everyone!)
Great video, with the decision process clearly explained. Just curious: why did you go with the now discontinued 116234 instead of the newer 126234, which has an improved bracelet and movement? Or is it that you bought it a few years ago?
I am curious where you bought the watch? Most commercial Rolex stores or retailers won't ship the Rolex to your house. You have to pick it up from the store itself
@hespokestyle I just picked up my first Rolex and tried to get it mailed from the Rolex store and they said no. They said they don't ship in order to keep prices lower at the store versus elsewhere. Otherwise if they allowed watches to be shipped, 3rd parties would just buy 100 Rolex watches from Rolex directly at cheaper prices and get it shipped to them and then resell them with a higher mark up. Also, they like that real customers come to their store rather than businessmen wanting to buy then resell, which is why they also have a limit on how many watches you can buy when you come in. It totally blew my mind and I think most people would think the prices for a new Rolex would be higher at the Rolex store versus a third party. My first luxury watch was the omega speedmaster. The James Bond 007 Casino Royale advertising got me! I really enjoyed your video and had similar experiences when deciding to buy it. It was much cheaper than the Rolex back then, but I can still remember the roller coaster of emotions that I experienced before I decided to go all-in. I also had a G-Shock and a Swatch watch before the Speedmaster. I love the datejust that I got recently. If I had only one watch, I think this would be it. It can be dressed up or dress down and worn for any occasion really. It's funny how the Speedmaster fit the life that I had in my 30s. Not married no kids, the marketing with the James Bond movie was pretty spot-on with my life. I was nothing like James Bond I never got the girl, but back then I was a free spirit, I had no kids, I was working a good job and had no obligations with the money I made, hence the Speedmaster. Now I am married, I have two kids and two other step kids, I have taxes, a mortgage and a joint income that is not too shabby. Having the Rolex Datejust now in my life is just as fitting.
Great watch. I own the same model but I went with a black dial. I put my name on a list and got a call from the dealer a day before my birthday. 2019 I did wait 1year. My first Rolex was a mint condition second hand Rolex Kermit. I could not even get the Rolex submariner ceramic dial like 3 years waiting list. I paid £4900 for the Kermit. Had it valued at £14000 2 years later. A result there. Then I got a 1 year old Rolex yacht master 40 blue dial. I had to part exchange an omega sea master/ omega aqua terra which I both owned for 6 years and won both on e bay auction and a bundle of cash. I’m skint😁. But do have my name on the GMT Batman if ever I get one.
I love this watch. I’m looking at purchasing the same bracelet, dial and bezel combination. The 36mm looks great on your wrist. You mention your wrist is 6 1/2 inches. Do you know what the width of the top of your wrist is? Mine is 60mm and am trying to form a comparison using your great shots in the video.
My first watch was when i wad about 11yrs old it was a Timex with one of thise expanding skin pinching bracelets. Next was a Poljot chronograph i saved for with my pocket money, which my dear old matched so i could buy it. I lost that way back my dad bought me one of those LED watches for a 21st birthday present. Problem with that was i could only see the time in the dark. Fast forward to the present and ive got a Datejust, Submariner, moonwatch and two other vintage and gold watches. Like people say, its a slippery slope
Great video. I can appreciate the length of time to consider this purchase. My partner makes fun of my tendency to do lengthy research prior to a large purchase.
Fantastic Video. I've been considering a Datejust for some time now. This year marks the 10 year anniversary with my Company and I think I'm ready to take the plunge and finally purchase now. Hindsight 20/20, do you still place that same importance of buying new vs used? I know the second hand market has come a LONG way in the past few years, so I was curious to hear your opinion. Thank you!
I have no regrets about buying new for this watch. As I said in the video, I wanted it to be completely mine and the only way that could be the case is if I bought new.
My journey just started I have a Hamilton field titanium which I love and didn’t want to spend too much on a watch because I couldn’t justify it. Now I’m looking at datejusts lol I buy car parts that is nothing in price compared to Rolex s so why not lol That’s a nice classic looking version!
Another great video. And such a classic timepiece. Horology had a tractor-beam pull on some part of my nerdy brain. The history, design and search are all part of the process. But the research! I took you 9 months? I'd say that's about right for such an important purchase. Love it.
Thank you for the reply, I'm looking to buy one in the future, I'm setting it as a reward for my future goals. But personally I like the way yours looks compared to the new clasp but again the new clasps allows for adjustability without readjusting the links taking out the screws etc
My journey started with Skagen and Seiko. Just bought a DateJust 1601 to reward myself for a work milestone. Onward and upward!
Very nice!
After wearing big watches for such a long time, going back to my 35-36mm watches is such a charm. It wears more like a bracelet and are much more comfortable throughout the day.

Smaller watches are more elegant and stylish. Big watches are cartoonish, silly and kind of look like a toy.

Very true.
36mm on a jubilee means absolute comfort when it comes to watches!
After listening to your story, I really want to get the dayjust as my second luxury watch as my 25th birthday. My first luxury watch that i really like is the omega speedmaster day date with the moonphase.
That's awesome and would be an amazing two-watch collection.
Wonderful!
As first (or any) watches go, absolute stunner. Always loved the idea of marking a special occasion/achievement with a great watch. Congratulations!
Many thanks!
Love it !
I’ve just bought a DJ 41 with Blue dial and Oyster Bracelet as my 1st Rolex, I really like the 36 but the 41 looked better to me on my 7.5 inch wrist
Awesome. Congrats!
Best Watch!
My wife gave me a DJ2 with a blue dial and Roman numerals for my 50th bday. The dial color is stunning
@@BigOD77 great wife Great Watch
My wifey bought me a DJ 41 silver dial on the oyster Bracelet with the fluted bezel for my birthday it now part of my every day life.
Whatever you do, don't ever get rid of your date just. Every Rolex I sold to upgrade towards my next Rolex I was sorry that I sold. My day date36mm yellow gold. That won't be sold along with my GMT. These are keepers.
Wearing Rolex's since 1967
And always been happy. Today 1/9/21 FedEx will be delivering my new omega planet ocean 39.5m first omega I've ever owned.
A good choice the DJ 36.
very nice! Congrats. Hope you love it!
Perfect timing of this video! Thanks!
You're so welcome!
I have the exact same watch but the 1970 version. 1601 Silver Dial with Wideboy Hands and indices. Such a timeless watch!
My first "nice" watch was also Rolex Datejust 36mm 116234 - it was a wedding gift from my wife. I still remember the time we went to a Rolex boutique and put it on my wrist. Amazing watch.
That's awesome! Good choice! :)
Not sure that's in the cards for me.
Are you a Hodinkee casting agent?! LOL. Thanks so much for the comment and support.
The jubilee bracelet and the fluted bezel are what really turn me on - I guess I like drama. lol
You're such a humble guy! Love your content. Will you be doing a video on a Burberry Trenchcoat?
I don't have one. Just a 3/4 length burberry brit
If you want a more classic and elegant look, you definitely want the 36mm. Good luck!
Beautiful timepiece. Thanks for the backstory, Brian!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fabulous time piece!! Great size. My first "luxury" watch was very similar to this DJ. I opted for a GS SBGR251. Also bought it to mark a professional milestone. Cheers!
GS! Wow not many choose it as a first luxury watch! But I can totally understand you! ;)
Well done!
Great video, Brian. Loved the backstory as we have similar watch journeys. Mine was Swatch to Citizen to Omega. That first purchase took a lot of research before pulling the trigger similar to your story.
Very cool!
My first luxury watch is the original Tudor Black Bay 58 which I bought 7 months ago. My first Rolex is the Explorer 1 mk2 which I bought early last week. Both are amazing pieces.
Indeed. Congrats.
Wow. A steal!
Beautiful piece...adding to your collection with Vasheron and a.lange...fantastic combination
Thank you kindly!
I’m in the market for my first Rolex, how dare you push me even more towards this watch.
LOL
you won't resist that long! good luck 😉
do it. datejust is eternal
Awesome! Congrats! And thanks for the support!
after watching your video, I have my eye out your exact watch with the oyster bracelet though would settle for a jubilee.
Fantastic!
Cheers 🥂
Thanks so much, Farshid. Always great to read your comments.
When deciding on this, did you think you would miss the “champagne” patina of the vintage dials? I am so close to pulling the trigger on a new model DJ (36, fluted, jub, silver dial) but I’m scared I’ll miss out on the champagne of the vintage. Any thoughts? Thank you!
What is the resale value for the watch you got ?
I did the same in october. 1st rolex and decided on the DJ for many of the reasons you mentioned. I swear the jubilee bracelet is the most comfortable of any watch I've ever own....blue face but I chose the Roman numerals...gave it that day date feel with our the 30k price tag haha.
Thanks for chiming in, Leonard!
Yeah they don’t come with the strap anymore?? What year is this and how do I get one?!
Love the story of the video. Would like to see more of this. Awesome job👍👍👍
More to come!
This is original bracelet? On this model I have another… how do I change it to one like yours?
I got that joint last week with an oyster strap.....it blends with both of my explorer IIs.
Bought my Two Tone Rolex Datejust with a silver linen Dial in 1974 for my 21 birthday 🎂 still have it , Good Choice
Very nice!
@Mr Trippy $350
Congrats! I really do like the hidden clasp.
I feel like I've been through the exact same process that ended by me buying the new OP 36 3 weeks ago. I also did a video (in to present the watch and explain my own process (it's in French, so not for everyone!)
Congrats!
Cool, what colour? I'm considering a 36mm OP to compliment my Datejust.
Sir is the time easily 'readable' considering both the dial & hands are about the same color because i have to use reading glasses when reading text.
I would have thought you were a two tone sub guy. Sporty and bold.
Great story. Thanks for sharing Brian.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it when you talk about watches as well 😋
Thanks!
Great video, with the decision process clearly explained. Just curious: why did you go with the now discontinued 116234 instead of the newer 126234, which has an improved bracelet and movement? Or is it that you bought it a few years ago?
The one I bought was the new model at the time.
I am curious where you bought the watch?
Most commercial Rolex stores or retailers won't ship the Rolex to your house. You have to pick it up from the store itself
NYC boutique
How do you think omega watch? Will you buy it? People always compare omega vs Rolex. Omega try to increase the value nowadays
I've got a Speedy and here's the story: ruclips.net/video/hbPVhJxavH0/видео.html
I really like your dress style and thats how I love dressing indeed.
Thank you!
7:50 dayumm that's a money shot right there
First comment its so good to see these suggestion though can you please make an update on your sunglasses collection. Love the video!!!👍
I would if there had been any updates! But there aren't any!
@@hespokestyle its all good brian just keep making awesome videos im litterally addicted😂
Nice job with the video. Maybe I missed it, but did you mention what year it was when you bought the DJ? Sounds like post-2010....
Thanks. Yes, it was 2016 when I got this watch.
Beautiful watch, bro! Wear it in good health.
Csnt wait to get one end of the year
Great watch. I own the same model but I went with a black dial. I put my name on a list and got a call from the dealer a day before my birthday. 2019
I did wait 1year.
I just purchased my first Rolex, a 36mm Two tone, blue and gold. Still can't believe how lucky I am to have it in my collection.
It's a beautiful model, simplicity has a unique beauty.
‘Practicing my saxophone”...check! Haha! I enjoy your channel.
Rock on!
Omg. I love the iron is my fav watch to. Please find a link to buy. ?
That timex is just collectors, rare find. Almost impossible to find. Priceless.
How long ago did you purchase this watch? Ref 116234 production stopped in 2018 I believe.
Hello, I have the same one but I looking forward to check if it is authentic
My biggest dilemma since long time ago is to choose among two 'Oyster' cases : 'Datejust' (classic bezel and Jubilee bracelet) or 'Explorer'.
Nice watch and a good story to go with it. Well done!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful piece!! Would go with anything
Totally
Happy New year Brian, quick question what color suit can I style a green pocket square with?
Same to you. What kind of green?
@@hespokestyle bottel or jade
My journey just started I have a Hamilton field titanium which I love and didn’t want to spend too much on a watch because I couldn’t justify it. Now I’m looking at datejusts lol I buy car parts that is nothing in price compared to Rolex s so why not lol
That’s a nice classic looking version!
Beautiful watch! No doubt, it was worth the wait. I appreciate your sharing the journey.
Nice video, Brian. I would like to see similar videos regarding your Vacheron Traditionelle and Lange Datograph.
Planning on them!
This helps alot! I'm contemplating between this or a GS
I mean, you can’t go wrong with either. What GS are you looking at?
@@hespokestyle I've had my eye on the SBGA427 for a while now 😁
Get the Rolex, I've never heard anyone regretting buying a Rolex!
Another great video. And such a classic timepiece. Horology had a tractor-beam pull on some part of my nerdy brain. The history, design and search are all part of the process. But the research! I took you 9 months? I'd say that's about right for such an important purchase. Love it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Did the bracelet come with the watch? I've seen in newer videos the bracelet clasp has changed?
Yes
Thank you for the reply, I'm looking to buy one in the future, I'm setting it as a reward for my future goals. But personally I like the way yours looks compared to the new clasp but again the new clasps allows for adjustability without readjusting the links taking out the screws etc
