I can't believe this song doesn't get more attention.
I loved the original as a kid in the cold war. But it feels even more timely now.
    Enjoyed your reaction/channel.

Just as relevant today as it was in the '80s. Genesis has a lot of relevant and protest-type songs. Love that you 'get' the message with this one. Now hit some Genesis.

One thing that is important about the message is not it's "Capitalism = bad" but rather that a proper distribution has to happen and that, like you said, "corruption/greed" is the main problem.

You should do the official video of Disturbed's "The Vengeful One" -- his original work in the same context. The imagery and symbolism is awesome.

Love this cover! Disturbed changed a single line from the bridge of the original song: "and the sound of your laughter (as I held you tight)" was changed to "in the wake of this madness". Subtle change for that even darker tone.

Disturbed also did an amazing cover of a Sting song. I think it is If I Ever Lose My Faith In You. It’s more recent.

Disturbed crushes every cover they do. From Tears For Fears - Shout on their first album to all the ones that they have followed with. Just amazing.

Disturbed has a couple videos in comic book style. The others are escaping me right now, I'm sure RUclips fam will help me out. But they're always phenomenal

If you're not familiar with genesis, it's the band Phil Collins was in before he went solo. You should react to their song next! They have a great and funny music video, too, despite the truthful lyrics.

Yes! Compare/contrast them. Would be good to research what was driving the original.

Someday RIAA will catch up with their certifications and this is a song that will be certified Gold and Platinum when they do.

I ran across the original version of this song in 2020 or 2021. Later that day I looked it up on RUclips and found the Disturbed cover. What a time to find this masterpiece!

believe it or not Disturbed also did a lesser known cover of U2's I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For though it was never a single and was titled ISHFWILF which is rather clever if you ask me

I feel like you might want to check out a song by Oingo Boingo called "Nothing Bad Ever Happens". The song really addresses that sense that there are horrible things happening, but we're comfortable, so...

Ah one of the few reactors that gets the message then and today its still mostly the same. Greed and unrestricted capitalism will destroy the world unfortunately we haven't learned the lesson yet or at least the rich haven't

I wouldn’t blame cooperations in particular but how media effects the human race specifically. So basically. With the help of the internet and the reach we have with it now. We have literally lost what makes us individuals. We see something trending which isn’t a bad thing. Look back to the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Trending was cool. But it relied on mouth to mouth communication. Going to a concert and then telling how great the band was. Instead of Snapchating, instagramming, YouTubing etc. which reaches the entire planet within seconds. We have to continually “one up” ourselves and each other now. As that’s what’s “the norm” now. Just a ridiculous paradox within an endless loop.

I really hated the Genesis video back in the 80's on MTV, those puppets were brutal. But this brings the song to where it needs to be.

It was because of how popular the show Spitting Image was back then. I found the video very fitting tbh.

Awesome reaction, I enjoyed your perspective as well. Disturbed does an awesome cover of the song "Shout" by Tears for Fears as well. The real monster is the "deep state" which controls everything globally, the governments are even at their mercy.
