  • This is a garden I have known and loved for many years. The owner is a true gardener and plantswoman who has beautifully chronicled her time in this garden as it has evolved, changed and grown. Situated on a beautiful small lake, it is truly a special place, honoring its Oklahoma home,
and enriching the lives of anyone who visits.

I LOVE this garden tour! One thing about gardening that I truly enjoy is that each garden can be uniquely different but just as beautiful, and they reflect a gardener's growth over time. We grow and mature with our gardens. I can't wait to see the back yard. And I enjoy seeing how you two friends bond over the joys, labor and natural disasters over gardening. BTW, we call those ditch lilies in Minnesota. I have them in my yard too, but after seeing this tour, I'm inspired to move some to my back yard to put in an area occasionally flooded to hold the bank of soil.
Thank you for having such a great channel with wonderful, inspirational (and do-able!) content. And Stewart makes it great too. Take care. 💜

I believe those are Tawny daylilies, instead of tiger lilies. These tawny daylilies grow in ditches along the roads in SC. There is a double variety also, called Kwanso. Tiger lilies' blooms are reflexed with purple-black spots. Both are a beautiful orange. These dayliles are prolific and brighten gardens as well as gullies. Loved this video!

Good evening Linda! I truly enjoyed this tour of your friend’s lawn and garden. I loved how she talked about having a “view” through her tree because I’m the same way. Just today, I pruned some branches off two trees to improve the view into my yard. I love the sculptural quality of tree branches! Her rock bed was so peaceful looking and the large pots at her driveway are so pretty! I learned a lot, too! Thank you! 💕

Love the gorgeous dress! In my southeastern NC garden, the bugs would eat me alive in a dress! I am a hot mess, literally, when I work in my garden.
Thank you for the tour of that lovely garden. That Linda has such a beautiful landscape! I have no words. I can appreciate the loss of trees. I lost all the big trees in my backyard to a tornado almost 4 years ago. I grieve that loss everyday, but I move on, trying bring some beauty to my now very HOT, sunny backyard. Gardens are always a work in progress, but mine paid me back today in ripe tomatoes! Yay!

Truly a labor of love in this garden. I enjoyed the casual conversation between you two Lindas. I feel like I’m eavesdropping on two experts and getting so much free advice. It’s not just about plants, but the whole esthetic of the home, the plan and working with nature. I have a similar potting bench that is on a slope that was built by my husband and father. They did the same thing, two legs are shorter than the other two and I treasure it. Can’t wait for the next video.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. That if I thought gardening was work I wouldn't do it. I remember as a child we had chores of sweeping off the patio, picking up leaves, and weeding the garden. Oh how we groaned at the thought of doing that as children. But now as an adult I have a different attitude towards gardening it's play and beauty creating an oasis for your family to enjoy. I love to play in my garden, in fact I play in my garden more than I dust my furniture vacuum my floors. I just love being outdoors, Even in the heat of Texas.

I have a shady backyard and porch but the wind from the southwest and days of well over 100 degrees have played havoc on all my plants! Especially the tender wind of the begonias! ☹️. the way I handle vertical layering is through my gardener who brings me felled tree trunks in various sizes in height and diameter, as he trims trees for his day job. This way I can put different pots at different levels and add my favorite cypress and evergreens throughout my garden, without having to buy mature specimens, which are outrageously priced. I love the natural look of them in the garden.

I put big colorful pots in my beds to break up the green and give more dimension.

I’d love to see old photos of the property when the prior owner built it. It has such beautiful bones, their choices are perfect, the stonework is amazing. And it’s one story, so easy to live in. Love this!

... the orange lilies are actually daylilies (rhizomes), and not tiger lilies, which come from a bulb. Each bloom - as is the name - lasts only one day. This orange variety is almost weed-like in the east (MD zone 6), in that they will take hold in the poorest soil. (They have been colloquially dubbed "s#$t-house lilies", as they were common around outhouses back in the day.) Switching gears 🙃, Linda's property is absolutely divine with all the beautiful natural surroundings. It feeds my soul so! I would never want to leave! I can't wait 'til tomorrow's reveal for the rest of the back garden to the lake! 🤗💕👩🏼‍🌾💚🌳🌸 =^..^=

Thank you, both Lindas and Stewart for the lovely garden tour. Thank you also for stressing how gardens are never perfect and are always in flux whether it be pests, weather or just the mysteries of plants! It’s never boring that’s for sure! Also I want to thank you Linda for your response on my columbine question. Much appreciated! 🇨🇦
