  • Framing the view in garden design is intuitive and powerful. Highlighting and circumscribing what and how we want to showcase something beautiful and edit out the unwanted. You do it already every day in your own garden spaces.

I think these design principle videos are the most insightful and applicable you do. While I love hearing your plant recommendations and getting specific project ideas, plant palettes change with environment and taste and some projects suit certain settings better than others. However, concrete examples of design elements are priceless because they can and should be applied to any garden.

Framing the view... thank you Linda & Stewart for sharing this topic... framing the view can be therapeutic for those who are homebound for any reason... even those in nursing care communities... being able to design a "picture" for folks to enjoy can mean so much to their recovery or long term health... plants attracting pollinators birds & other wildlife helps folks connect and care about life beyond their walls. Linda your channel is perfect for helping us "help" nature bring joy to all. Thank you.

Well, first off, let me just say, YAY, so glad you are feeling better! This was one of those vlogs that I REALLY needed to see as I am thinking and planning for next year and some garden ideas for our new home! This year, I decided to just do an area off the covered porch and also around the porch with containers of annuals. I started off with a very soft color palette but then felt it was too washed out looking and added a bit more color...I wanted instant gratification this year! I just needed to be able to walk out the back door and feel as if I had entered a small English garden! And YES, someday I look forward to touring your beautiful gardens in person! How lovely that would be! Much love and blessings to you and Stewart! And again, so glad you are on the other side and now up and about!

I have a great view were I have an Arch you can see out my front window with a bench on the other side and I am adding a lighted two tear fountain in the middle before the Arch. Glad you’re feeling better, Linda, and that you tested negative. This was a very interesting and informative video. Once again let me say I enjoyed Stewart’s video so much. It was like a morning stroll through a park before it was open to the public….relaxing and peaceful. His videography skills are so good the scent of geranium came into my mind when he panned in on it as though I was standing there…..and with a cell phone, no less. I felt like I could reach out and touch its velvety leaves and silky soft petals. It’s a video that I will keep in mind should I ever again be up in the middle of the night with an anxiety attack. I can only imagine what he can do with high powered cameras. It was just superb!

Loved this topic. I, too, am on the mend from COVID, and rereading your book from my backyard has helped me so much to get out of the slumps and sads. This time around I'm digesting it slowly and journaling thoughts. Thank you so much for giving me such wonderful food for thoughts and garden dreams. Glad you are feeling better.

Sorry to hear that you have been sick, but relieved that you are on the mend and testing negative! Hope your husband is okay as well. Don't do too much too soon. Great video and subject.
