    Salt water and electronics rarely mix and the ocean is not friendly with our gear. Things are constantly breaking or rusting apart. These are a few of the things we hope to get to keep bringing Sailing Zephyr to you.

    SunPower is the only solar module warrantied for maritime installation. Every other mono crystalline module installed in salt water environments voids the warranty. Maxeon pv cells mount the silicon wafers to a solid copper foundation. This mitigates the corrosion of the electrical connectors. Smart choice if you want efficiency and durability.

      I actually didn’t know that. That’s so cool. Thanks for letting us know.

    This panel can put out close to 100 watts ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle.The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts.If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

      LOL If, if more, more if... if you put in all the labor that you don't need for diesel, and diesel works at night.

    I think Epoxy filler would have been a much better choice over resin filler and fiberglass. In almost all of the boat builds I have seen doing a similar project as yours they use an epoxy filler as its much stronger and more durable as well as versatile in its application. And you never have to worry about fiberglass inserts. From what I can tell its also a much easier process.
    Other than that the overall process of creating the transom platform was amazing, especially since you have never done it before. It came out looking so sharp and spot on, job well done! At this point I am sure your project is long completed months ago and is working just fine for your needs. Keep up the great work and looking forward to more amazing DYI fun!

      Thanks so much for the awesome feedback. It was a debate about which to use. You’ll enjoy the next video coming out tomorrow. It’s some great DIY. I hope. Hahaha.

    I would go with Good Bifacial Panels. Just What I would Put on a Boat !

  • @bryhan67
    @bryhan67 28 дней назад

    Since there is not much space on a sailboat I wonder if you could but a thin flexible or standard panel under the existing panel? Bifacial down side is they are bigger so per SQ FT they are not much advantage. Im sure the sun reflect off the water and any free power would be a bonus. Wonder if anyone has tried this or tested the idea?

    check out the Panasonic SC330. Great panel and about the highest voltage you can get. Powers my 48v battery bank with 2 wired in PARALLEL! 70v open circuit!

    Hmmm, I thought solar arches were perfect matches to any/all bi-facial panels? Did you consider them?

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  Год назад +1

      We did, however we will be storing our surfboards and fishing rods underneath. Plus the SS parts of the arch and the Bimini would obstruct a considerable amount of the panel. But they are incredible for sure.

    Big statement that those solar panels are not going anywhere. Many years ago I seen the result of a greenie hitting a stainless arch with a couple of solar panels attached, the were gone, but there were four big holes in the deck, the boat was a super strong, over built solid glass gem.

      Reach out to Sunpoweredyachts.com. Lyall is a legend and will confirm pricing. But definitely worth the extra expense.

      If you're gonna make a comment like this Roy, you should suggest a style you prefer or else your words aren't helpful enough for them to change it all just for you. Music could be so much worse, like an Indian DIY creator studios most popular background song. 😆 just change the styles up and avoid being repetitive, can't please everyone.

    Sitting here watching thinking about how you're working with fiberglass cutting and sanding with no gloves or mask and then I see your eyes blinking and glossy and then the next day you're doing it again. Lol. How are you not suffering? Lol.

      I should be more careful wearing PPE. But for the most part I am usually wearing a respirator. Just when I’m filming sometimes I take stuff off. Probably still not a great excuse.
