Hi Kathleen, boy you really got around this last time. Congratulations on your possible retirement. I also retired under similar circumstances, otherwise I would still be working since I loved my job. Mary Poppins and Ink Circles seem to be a lot to stitch for me but your choice of floss is beautiful. I am currently stitching my first sampler and enjoying it very much. I just purchased Pony needles from Steph but haven't tried since I love, love the Colonial smalls the were introduced to me by Jackie - Comfort Stitcher. The quilt behind you is very pretty. Always so enjoyable to watch your video
I've enjoyed listening and watching while stitching this morning. All your pieces are lovely! Years ago, in the 90's, I learned to use a damp sponge on my thread, and have been doing it ever since. It really keeps the thread straight. I've been on three Alaskan cruises, so enjoyed hearing about your trip. Wishing I could go again, for sure. Retirement is the best, so don't just think about it. If you can, you should. That's my 2 cents worth!
Having been in one cruise to Alaska, I can see why you’ve done multiples! I’m already thinking maybe 2026 to return. lol. I don’t know how I never heard the damp sponge trick before. So simple and yet genius!
I enjoyed stitching along with you this morning. I love stitching that Mary Poppins piece although you are more ambitious than I. That middle section is enough for me! 🤣 Enjoy your upcoming retreat.
Thanks for the advice on The Attic! I’m picturing it similar to Hobby House which was also mostly samplers, but I managed to find goodies! And of course I can still drool over models even when it’s something I wouldn’t normally stitch. 😉
Hi Kathleen! Your trip to Oregon and Alaska sounded wonderful!! My kids were also impressed with Alaska and often talk about working a summer out there. During our travels, which included interior Alaska and not just the southeast arm, we met so many people working at the various places we stopped who were from all over the lower 48! 😂. You sound like you'll be one busy gal this next month or so...livin' that cross stitcher's dream of traveling to retreats and LNSes 😂. Hope you enjoy them all and I'm looking forward to hearing all about those adventures too! I'd love to get to that Stitch New England retreat one of these years myself! Safe travels!
Hi Maureen! I was not expecting so many workers to NOT be Alaska natives. Almost all were younger people or early retirees from the other states. I’d live to see the interior too now that I saw that part of the coast. I didn’t think i was overbooked this fall until the two week work trip came up. Going to be busy for sure!
Oh, I learned that sponge trick from Accio WIP here on Flosstube! It's great! Really works with my full coverage where I'm going in and out of the tight spots. :) I love all the variegated thread choices! So many pretty projects! Thank you for sharing!
It was great reliving our cruise time together. I'm going to need you to do a project bag tutorial. I have tons of fabric that I could use. Hope you are doing well with all your travels. If you want, I can send you that floss.
Fun to hear about your adventures! I just got the Summer Quaker pattern and am excited to start it! Yours is soooo pretty on 25 count! I have the spring pattern too.. love the watermelon floss and those birds are sooo sweet! I love the Mary Poppins design... might have to "add to cart"! Your souvenir bags are fabulous! I'm stitching on some September Samplers right now but itching to start some fall and Halloween stuff!
Thank you! Those Primrose Cottage Quakers are so fun to stitch! I didn’t do too much sampler stitching this September. Time is flying by, and I only have a few weeks until I’ll start working on fall and Christmas instead of Halloween. There are advantages to NOT being a seasonal stitcher. lol.
I feel you on the returning from trip/getting covid. I haven't tested positive, yet, but my husband has and I've got... something. (On the other hand, a nurse from my doctor's office said the hospital system has considered being in town as being a covid exposure soooo) Good luck with all your mad travels!
I hope you and your husband recovered quickly! My recent (2nd) bout with Covid was not nearly as bad as the first. I thought it was allergies this time. Completely different symptoms than my first go round which was last year.
@@snickerdoodlestitch2146 Oh man, boy have things changed - since I replied, I did get covid, then there was a family medical emergency (things are as good as they can be) and I'm 13+ hours from my family, so I ended up with a covid rebound. Both were really minor and I really only tested the first time because of my husband's case!
Thank you! I think in my next video, I’m going to give the details on the quilt that’s been behind me. I have to record my next video sooner than usual, so I won’t have as much cross stitch to share. I need to figure out a recording set up to do a tutorial on my bags. I’ll work on it!
Just watched you for the first time after a recommendation from Laura at stitching by the shore …loved your video and will now catch up on some of your previous floss tubes 😊…just wondering as I loved your project bags and am starting to make my own also , what pattern do you use and what lining do you use as they look very firm ? Thankyou ☺️👍
Thank you for visiting! I use Soft and Stable from By Annie’s in my project bags because I like them to be able to stand up without flopping. Pellon makes a similar product that might be cheaper. It’s about an 1/8” thick foam with fabric on both sides. It’s similar to what they use as the headliner in cars, which was Annie’s original inspiration.

Thank you! I’m really, really wishing I had started in the middle! 😁
Forgot to add…I love, love your channel!! I think you’re here in Delaware too, right? I grew up and went to school downstate, closer to the beaches.
The Attic is sampler heavy but they have a lot of everything. You won’t be disappointed. Have fun!

Look at you go on the Spring Quaker!
I also like the fabric and thread for ink circle
Thank you!
Enjoyed meeting you! The berries are Marion berries, named after the county where they were discovered and where I was born! 🪡
Thank you! Yes, Marion berries were what I couldn’t remember! I’ve never seen or heard of them in all my travels, until Oregon.

Oh! I’ll have to check out that Flosstuber. I’m loving that sponge trick!

I’m glad we’re planning the next cruise! I’m going to work on a bag tutorial. I need to figure out a good way to record it. I’ll work on it!

Another great video, lovethe quilt in the background. You have made some lovely bags, do you have a tutorial please?
