6:07 Incorrect statement. I own both steel and precious metal Daytonas...they change the curvature slightly and they change the lugs slightly. You need to look closely to see it. I believe they do this so you can't interchange the bracelets between different metals. They want the Oysterflex bracelets sticking with the gold cases, they want the steel Oyster bracelets sticking with the steel cases, and they want the platinum Oyster bracelets sticking with the platinum cases. Not surprising since they do the same thing with their GMT watches, and others. Rolex controls everything they can.

hey David, what a beautiful watch. i am taken with the yellow gold/ green dial version. like the blue dial, the green dial is beautiful.
David, there is big difference in lugs between platinum daytona 116506 and for example, green face daytona 116508, i have both and the lugs are completely different, Also it differs from the steel one! The lugs are the same as on white gold 116509.
Also small detail: that the clasp when its open doesnt have center polished.

Yes, I love platinum, it's my favorite metal. I'm not a fan of the Daytona (dial is too small at 27mm and hard to read with 3 cramped subdials and tiny hands) but I would buy a DD pt if I could very comfortably afford one.
I own a humble Yacht-Master pt dial ref 116622 and I love its simplicity and elegance. What I like about the platinum is its blue hue under certain lighting conditions, its weight and its stealth wealth factor. Also the fact that's it's very pure at 97.5% against 75% for gold. Heavy heavy hitter.

Hi David, hope you’re well. You do have a crystal ball. Only 10 of these on Chrono 24 today. BQ watches has the normal dial Platinum Daytona for £105k so this must be around the £130k+ I was offered a Rolex Daytona Platinum (can’t remember which dial to be honest) at retail in Rolex, Knightsbridge ages go but it was too expensive. At the time they had no sports watches and only the Platinum Daytona. Oh well someone’s happy. Have a lovely weekend with your family. Maybe you’re working. Take care David. 👍

All ways love your candid talk David. I am thinking of selling various pieces to get the Daytona Platinum. My AD has told me that they should be able to get one, fingers crossed. What is you take on selling items like Deepsea DBlue, Gmt Meteorite, Seadweller etc to get this piece with the diamond dial?

You'd be better off holding the meteorite...that is gonna shoot up eventually i think. Only a limited amount of material left to produce thkse dials.

Although my Daytona Zenith has risen a ton since 1997 when I bought it at 7000 Canadian...the days of these watches as investments are over...as severely overpriced timepieces. You want a great investment, buy a few 99.99% platinum coins and stash them away. Guarantee it will way outperform this watch as an investment.

Stainless steel Rolex are becoming a bit of a cliche ... but that watch is awesome, I love it.

Hi David, There was time that Platinum was more expensive than gold. Today this watch should cost 1/2 of what the white gold costs. Rolex is killing it when they sell a watch that should be around $20,000 USD for $80,000 USD

Yes that is a better investment imho (but I'm talking in the long run eg 8-10 yrs) for my 💰(diamond baguet dials will be thought tacky again in a few years like they were in late 90s- it's all a circular thing fashion - not taste) ps this WG Daytona that mimicks the 6265 with a non ceramic bezel should be a long term investment piece as it's very under priced at the moment as nobody has wised up to it - but they will

@truth ntruth 6265 is a masterpiece of a watch - but you have to be careful it's not a small red service dial, the 727 mvt is good and everything matches up - so that would be circa £65k loose watch and up to £85k full set - this one at Xupes is very nice - very tasteful as it doesn't have the tacky Daytona in red because it's a rare original Sigma (solid silver marker) dial.

The watch in platinum is twice as heavy as the already heavy stainless steel Daytona, and priced at a very steep premium for the actual amount of platinum that is used. And it does not look that much different color-wise to the steel version.
