I know my microphone and video quality stinks. I spent all my money on the Bronco.
LOL, fair enough but your audio was actually pretty good and do was the video quality. I use these fridge freezers in my semi for years. I froze a gallon of water and leave it unplugged overnight and everything stays frozen pretty good
@@TerraFirmaX Thank you! The blue ice / jug of water helps a lot for sure!
Funny response! 😂
@northwestbronco How exactly can you set it up where it is always on and cold at all time, vehicle on or off?
@@225holysmoke Great question. Either hard wire to the car battery OR use the separate power supply between the fridge and 12V plug. That part is in the video. Hope this makes sense. Both ways allow the fridge to run with the vehicle on or off.
I do the same for camping, plug the fridge into PLB 40 and PLB40 is plugged into car's outlet, that way I know I will not be draining the car battery. Also throwing couple ice packs is a good idea as mine is DZ-75.
Agreed it's a great system. The only issue I've had is when gear covers the fridge vents causing the fridge to shut off. Wish Dometic would move those vents to the front of the fridge.
@@NorthwestBronco I put the DZ 75 in the back of my truck sideways so that vents are facing towards the 2nd row seat where there is about 3inch gap which is enough for breathing, only thing left is to make a mounting bracket on ARB drawer. any ideas on that?
@@0724firecracker I don't know a lot about fabrication. What I can say is I had the drawer system for the Dometic. I removed it because of rattling issues. Now the fridge just sits strapped down to a rubber pad. BUT the drawer was mounted to the surface of the metal drawer top. Hmmm
Good editing. Straight to the facts.
Thank you sir!
Loved how this video is well presented & straight to the facts. Very useful. Thank you so much
Thank you for the comment sir! I appreciate it!
Thank you! I bought both the dometic fridge and dometic battery and the store didn’t even know what cables it comes with and if I need to buy anything else, so your video really helped! Thanks mate 🍻
Very welcome! Thank you for the comment!
Nice review. On the fridge and power station been a long time since the Bronco was sold in Australia. Think maybe 86-87 had a choice of 5.8 and 4.1 motors. There was speculation last year. The Bronco might come back but 2 months ago that's been squashed. I think with the massive sales of the Ford Ranger raptor Wildtrak etc, it might not wotk out. Almost all of the four-wheel drives here. The suspension has been modified for Australian conditions. I just purchased a Nissan Warrior and its a lot cheaper then a ford Raptor. Would love to see the Bronco back in the future, not many V8 people movers anymore. Maybe Landrover and nissan Patrol
Agreed with everything there. Interesting information. Thank you for posting!
I like the Jackery 3000 Pro power station. When I'm in camp for a few days I set up the solar panels which really helps. I can run everything off of it, the fridge, microwave oven, coffee maker, ect...(obviously I'm not a minimalist camper ;) Not a cheap option though.
I've heard great things about the Jackery 3000. How long does it take to charge it up using solar panels?
I’m looking at this set up. Well presented info. Thank you. 👍🏼
Thank you for the comment! Feel free to email me or post here with any questions. I'd be happy to help!
Thanks so much! Subscribed and will be following. My Wildtrak is currently in transit and due to arrive in the next 7-10 days. 😃
@@positivitywins9213 Thank you so much. I appreciate your following along. I hope your Bronco arrived safely!
I use the jet boil basecamp, half gen, mini mo, Luna side burner all propane. Leave the ecoflows for fridge lights projectors tablets etc
Love it! Thank you for the comment!
Don’t know how deep this is, but we freeze an old half gallon jug of milk filled with water. For as little as the fridge is open the jug will mostly stay as ice for a 3-4 day trip. Bonus if you need more water, take it out and let it thaw.
Great idea indeed! I too keep a "blue ice thing" in the bottom of this fridge. Works well when the Bronco is not running at night.
Nice setup.
Looks interesting indeed, looks like this way the fridge runs all trough the night
Very helpful...Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
I really like my Dometic CFX55im and 25. Got a couple of the PLB40 's which I use to power them. Even though I have other larger power stations I still always choose the PLB40 for my fridges. Just a all round well built dependable product. What I don't get is why Dometic dropped their PSB150 Solar blanket to charge the PLB40. More like they didn't even advertise it. I'm in Europe and had to order the solar blanket from Australia. Just wanted to keep it all Dometic. Their solar blanket is also high quality with SunPower Solar cells. Shane they didn't make it more easily available.
One they is suggest getting is the insulated cover for your fridge. Protects it and keeps it colder longer. Also, you'd have a side pocket for those fuses 😀
Great video!!👍
I'll have to see if I can find that solar blanket. Also, great tip on the insulated cover. Those are two items I'll check out for sure. Thank you for the comment!
@@NorthwestBronco all the best! Happy trails!👍🤙
Nice video, thank you!
Very welcome!
very useful video. thankyou
Glad it was helpful!
Good video. At the end you talked about plugging in the power supp;y and the frig over night. Does the cord you held up come with the product? What was it? Thanks, Peter
Yes sir. The fridge comes with the 12V cord and everything you need!
What storage system is that? Thank you
It's the Ford OEM Security drawer. I'm releasing a 2 year review video this week on it.
accessories.ford.com/bronco-4dr-2021-cargo-area-security-drawer-1
I like your videos. One request - I recommend you add some sort of sound / music to your opening intro clip, because every time it rolls I frantically try to adjust my volume thinking there is something wrong. 😄
I agree. I'm working on how to do that. Thank you for confirming it need a bit more!
Music added! For future videos you wont have to scramble for the volume :)
I want to live in my car ,can you use solar panels to keep your fridge cold ,,will it work and is it good idea
The fridge would run off a battery of some kind and the panels would charge that battery. Kinda like in the video except the solar panels would take the place of the bronco 12 V plug. BUT I’ve never used solar panels.
As someone who plans on living in suv 24 7 i wish you explained how powering the fridge 24 7 would be possible better
I'd go direct to the battery. Black wire runs to a ground and red to the the car or aux battery. There's plenty of video on that. Hope this helps you out!
@@NorthwestBronco what if im doing food delivery all day every day. Can i still use directly to starter battery? Or would i risk destroying alternator over time
@@NorthwestBronco do you have a link for video?
@@KT-ed8hj You should be fine. They have very little draw. I wouldn't leave the vehicle sitting for more than a night or risk draining the battery. Maybe disconnect the fridge if planning to do so.
If you are not storing food in the fridge at night. Just plug it into a 12V cigarette lighter plug. That way the fridge turns off with the ignition at night. Those fridges hold their temp for about 4 hours when off.
@@NorthwestBronco well like i said im gonna be living in my suv... for a few months. Is unplugging freezer even an option?
Hello there I’m new to using my 48 qrt bodega car fridge full time i’m having a hard time with just my power station and running my vehicle. What do you suggest I do I think the third thing you suggested was very helpful as well is to maybe install a secondary deep cycle battery under the hood, although my fridge does have a protection cut off saw my starting battery does not die., i’m not sure this point I’m Looking for some answers suggestions hope to hear back from you. Thank you for this video.
Your portable power station should run the fridge fine. BUT it may not be capable to do the third thing I spoke about in the video. If not, I'd either purchase a power station that can do that or search RUclips for a video on hard wiring to your battery. These fridges draw very little power but I can't speak on if it will work or not off your primary battery since I've never done it. Hope this helps!
Good content thank you
Thank you! Very welcome!
So, does the Dometic charge up using the AC cord in my home, or just cool it down? I want to charge it the night before. I don't have a battery station like you, but I can use the DC for the car plug outlet.
The fridge does not charge, it will run and cool as long as it’s plugged into the house. The fridge will run off your 12v in your vehicle. Hope this helps!
Is there a designation for the power supply? Great video, thanks for posting!
Thank you sir! You would have to crunch some numbers for that. You certainly can use other power supplies!
@Northwest Bronco just curious the model # of the power supply...
@@adamwebber9547 Oh......here's the link with all the data! www.amazon.com/Dometic-9600014024-Portable-Lithium-Battery/dp/B07MCDXSWZ/ref=sr_1_3?crid=TI29WBC1B1XW&keywords=dometic+power+supply&qid=1684381167&sprefix=dometic+power+supply%2Caps%2C336&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.2b70bf2b-6730-4ccf-ab97-eb60747b8daf
Great video. Definitely answered some questions for me. Did you try to fit the Dometic CFX3 45? I heard the footprint is the same as the 35 but taller. I’m about to buy the 45 but after watching this may have to change my mind.
Thank you for the kind words. If the footprint is the same, the CFX45 should be fine. The only issue would be if you have a drawer the fridge sits on. The height COULD be an issue without a slide out for the fridge. I found the slide out bolted on top of the drawer system rattled so I removed it. If the fridge just sits on the floor, there would be plenty of head room for the fridge. Hope this helps!
What if u have a normal small fwd only one battery .I plug fridge in the cigarette lighter. When u turn the car off it stays on. How long do u think until the battery go flat
Good question. It would depend on the power draw of the fridge and the condition of the battery. If you google power draw with amps, there’s a calculation for it. OR simply plug it in when you’re home and see if you have battery the next morning. Just make sure you have a way to jump your car! :)
Thank you for your video, could you tell me the size of your first aid kit and how you fixed it ? Possibly a link to buy the same ? It is strategically positioned ;-)
Here's the link to the First Aid kit. The size should be listed on the Amazon page:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G07FO5W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As far as items inside. It's basic first aid stuff: 4x4 bandages, abdominal pad bandages, Coban wrap, triangle bandage, CAT tourniquet, medical scissors, band aides, medical gloves, sun block, pain reliever and assorted meds, ointment, tweezers, ect. Just go to the local pharmacy's first aid area and all this stuff can be found. Hope this helps!
Oh...and a window breaker.
As for positioning. Nothing scientific. I keep the extinguisher in the rear because most fires start in the front. The first aid kit is with it so I know where to find it ;)
These fridge can you keep on Running during driving?
Yes, they do. They take the place of an ice cooler. Powered of the car battery, portable power station, or 12V vehicle plug.
But how do you hold the fridge and the portable charger in trunk when driving?
The Dometic Fridge comes with four tie down straps. I use two for the fridge, and one through the handle of the power supply. The security drawer had tie down points on all four corners.
Hope this helps!
@@NorthwestBronco Wow, thank you so much for your help!
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Run a red cable from the battery to the trunk, body of the car is negative. Now you have always on power for your fridge. Why all these hassles of powering the car on or off, extra batteries?
Great question. As mentioned in the video, hardwiring the fridge is one option. For me the fridge is something I only use on trips. 99% of it's life it's on the shelf. Running cables was not something I wanted to do. The 12V plug works fine. If I need power 24 hours a day, the separate power source is great.
There's a lot of folks who do not want any draw on their main battery. Especially overnight. But there's plenty of people who do hardwire their fridge. This is a few more options to pick from.
Thank you for the comment!
@@NorthwestBronco Excellent info.. I've been on the fence about a 12v cooler.. they make sense if you're travelling beyond a week or so. For the few times we go camping I use a pre cooled ice chest and carry 3 or 4 frozen gal sized milk jugs. We decant the thawed water to drink. There's nothing to break down and the 99% of the time we're home, we think about how much we saved having done nothing! Nice Bronco.
@@SSCbkr48884 All great tips there! Thank you for the comment!
i mean the obs bronco will give you a light any time. folks were more serious about cigarettes then i guess
Those domestic power supplies are crazy expensive
Totally agree! But you get what you pay for. They last a very long time and charge very quickly. They are overly expensive as you stated.
@@NorthwestBronco What size Dometic frig did you purchase?
@@lisaalvarado2213 It's the Dometic CFX35. Here's a link to the video. Thank you for the question!
ruclips.net/video/GJN2A1sapaU/видео.html
I have this fridge..sucks far too much power for a small very expensive fridge. Thankfully I have other options
What did you go with??
What about a fridge/freezer?
Maybe the Dometic CFX55. I believe it's a combo! Hope this helps!
If you aren’t in the Air Force, I would be very disappointed with my prejudices.
You're not the first :)
