MuthaTrucker.... So Sorry for this driver... so, she has been to court 4 or 5 times for this BS... WHERE, is JB Hunt in all of this? Have they "hung her out to dry, and letting her bare the brunt in all of this? JB Hunt should be in the courtroom... Not her!!
Mark my words - this IS, only going to get worse.
What you're seeing here, is Communism at work... and this is "Nothing" compared to what is coming. I tried desperately to warn the public in public meetings that all this was coming... all during the 1970's, but the "sheep" were sleeping and not paying attention.... they're Still Not, and "Trump" isn't going to "fix" Anything, for those who are stupid enough to actually believe that he's going turn this country around... "IF", there even is an election by Nov.... personally, I rather doubt it.. and it's all a sham, anyway.
There are NO "two parties" in this country anymore... there IS, One... with two heads, and the End Result is still the same.... Tyrannical Communism.
The NWO.. is just another name for Global Communism.
This country is like the cow that is shot dead.... and forgot to fall over. The country is Finished, and in more ways than one. There IS coming (as I warned 50+ years ago).... a second Civil War, Very Soon... and Russia, Will finish us off.
PS: I'm also a retired O/O (Owner/Operator) of 30 years, plus another 22+ years (before and after) as a driver... that's 52+ years, and No Accidents... just a few "high speed driving awards". : )

March 1986 at Dickeyville, Badger coop.
      NAVL tractor, Schweiger trsiler.
Wole up the CEO of NAVL at 03:30 -
      Ft. Wayne time.
It even took him 30 minutes to explain to the 6 man crew there and they ended up calling the Schweiger at 4am.
Cuffed but never stuffed then released with absolutely zero paperwork from them. Off to Salty we went.
      I was only the co-driver.
In the end they showed us the door because I, even as a somewhat newb and trusting fool too, myself then,
wouldn't let them NOT hear what I had to say !
Keep in mind that was 1986.
So many inspections over all the years I spent out there, passed every one, 99.9% perfect score overall - Cali too !
Initial impressions - observations of each - driver and leo - of each other.
Appearance to me was key, my personal and that of my trusty steed and its 53' tail.
If it wasn't right to a tee, I did not go until it was or as soon to be healed as it, whatever the problem, could be.
Over time I could haul one pallet less because of the weight of all the tools and chains that I ended up carrying.
Never know, might need this, might need that, better keep it just in case.
Above the tools though, required would be ingenuity, imagination and a general sense of any common sense which seems to be vacant in the heads of many these days.
      Work smart, not stupid.
Laziness in action usually results in more work being done than necessary.
That all boils down to a matter of personal work ethics - some have good ones, others none at all.
      I'd better end here...

Police need to be sued in cases like this because they had no evidence that the driver had did anything wrong, they know that drivers pick up and drop off trailers all the time with no way to know the history of the trailer they are hauling. One of the reason crimes is getting so bad in this country is because instead of arresting known bad people they are going after the good people.

First, you need to notify the department of labor about your situation. You had to call your dispatcher and notify them about the situation at hand and have them talk to the police. Since HB Hunt did not resolve the matter immediately, you need to speak to a lawyer about seeking compensation. You need to see a doctor for your anxiety, stress, mental anguish, and all other ailments that situation has caused you. This is also causing you to have a criminal record that will affect you for the rest of your life. You need to seek financial help because that situation is preventing you from being able to perform your work duties. You are suffering from a lot, which will equal huge damages.

Idk what to say about this... im dumbfounded. I currently drive locally for j.b.hunt and have worked for them for over 6 years. This issue has nothing to do with the driver. How is the driver being held accountable for this? The ownership of the trailer and the leasing agreement/licensing of the trailer all falls on the company. Im kinda angry with the company on why they arent taking responsibility for it and coming to the drivers aid. Im gonna bring this up to my boss tomorrow and run it up the chain to see what is said about it. Very bad message to send your drivers to just throw this girl under the bus and let her deal with the consequences. Ill find another job.

So, what would JB Hunt do if every driver called in the vin and tag of every trailer to the local PD before they hooked? If JB is not standing behind the driver and claiming that the driver is somehow responsible, then the drivers need to check every trailer. This will swamp the cops ( especially Perth Amboy ) and cost JB Hunt lots pf lost time. And all they have to do to stop it is do the right thing and stand behind their drivers when mistakes get made.

Utter incompetence by the police. This is why local cops should stay out trying to enforce trucking related issues if it's not an emergency. She should have never been arrested. I'm a driver manger at a trucking company and depending on where the trailer was leased from its hard to keep track if the trailer is goes out of state or network. Eventually an alert goes out to track it down but depending on where it is companies will try to get the unit loaded in order to bring it back. You don't make money hauling empties. If it was a mix up with the plates then it's the leasing companies fault and not JB Hunts. The cops still never should've arrested her.

@@JMosUndefeated Again, they did what they are supposed to do. Some serious armchair quarterbacking going on for someone who was simply doing their job the way they are trained to do it.
I know what officer's discretion is. This is possession of stolen property, and we aren't talking about a Snickers' bar. Smart discretion is an officer covering their rear by doing what the law says in arresting the person in possession and letting someone more qualified to make a judgement. Someone who has access to, or can demand (not just request) from prosecution, all the evidence.
Most of the time rolls of paper don't move much. But you still want friction mats just in case. I would expect an officer to cuff a person they might personally believe is innocent for the very same reason, just in case. They might have it wrong in their judgement of innocence, but they also might have it right and still run into a problem if the person isn't cuffed. Innocent people can be unstable in situation like that and put others at risk.

First off, if it's a "ticket", you don't take no one into booking for a ticket, second, placing cuffs on a non threatening, non combative woman is ridiculous. Now, they do have to put cuffs on you while in transport to the station, but they also could have placed them in front. Also since she was local they could have gaven her an opportunity to move the truck to a safe location. Now JB will not own up to this (obviously) and their argument will be, once our driver's pick up a trailer, company owned or otherwise, it is their responsibility to ensure everything is in working order and everything matches. Let's keep it 100, who the hell ever checks the registration to a trailer to make sure the plate matches? I'll wait....
I genuinely hope, that this woman gets the justice she deserves for humiliation, stress, financial loss and the list goes on. The Leo's and JB are way wrong in this one.

    1. She was arrested for being in pocession of stolen property. No fault of the arresting officers.
    2. She had a BOL. A BOL does not discriminate being in possession of stolen property.
    3. Did she match the trailer registration with the plate on the trailer as part of her pre-trip inspection? Most drivers forget this step and just hook and go. If she matched the registration with the plate, along with the BOL, then it still is being in possession of stolen property, yet a defense can be established that she was unable to be aware that the property was stolen. This would have fallen back on J.B. Hunt and her charges would be dismissed on account that no reasonable person in her position would have known the property was stolen. This is called “mens rea” or in layman terms a guilty mind.
This doesn’t mean that her case cannot be dismissed. It’s a good chance that with proper representation, she could prove insufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt to support a guilty verdict.
Lastly, she clearly has suffered emotional distress which could be brought up in civil litigation particularly if it is proven that J.B. Hunt should have known that the trailer was reported stolen and they had a duty to make sure that that trailer was not to be used but failed to do so. I’m sure J.B. Hunt will put up a defense for this.
No part of my analysis of this situation should be taken as legal advice. I’m not a licensed attorney and do not hold myself out to be a licensed attorney. My analysis is based purely on my opinion of what I learned in law school. Please seek the advice of a licensed attorney.

My first question is why the officer stopped this driver? Was there a lookout broadcast for stolen trailers? What reason did they have to check the plates on this truck? Next, did the plates match the trailer? That is a big question, it could have only been a stolen plate. Did the officer contact their supervisor for guidance? Did the officers understand the BOL document? I cannot see any justification for arresting this driver no matter what state it occurred in. This woman needs a good lawyer. I wish her well and hope she continues trucking, with some company other than J.B. Hunt. And before anyone replies with hate mail about cops and tickets. I got in trouble often for not writing enough of them. It took 3 chiefs retiring before I ever got promoted. If I wrote a ticket it was well deserved. Lots of PDs have automated plate scanners. They flag tags that have problems. That's almost certainly why they stopped this truck. The issue is that this was a local PD making a stop on a CMV. And not understanding that to the driver, the BOL is all they have, and all they should need. If the BOL matched the trailer, this should have been a ticket at worst. But, the cop probably did not understand that. And no one has been willing to step up and make this right.

Bottom line they tried to report the trailer as stolen even with all the documentation and evidence at check out... When I was done with them... Their accusation turned into apologies and more payment for the driver it was Diplomacy or lawsuit to protect out drivers. There system is flaud and they know it. You've got to know your rights.

You'd think the officer would let her contact her work to iron out the issue with them. So ridiculous.

This is really weird, as a JB Hunt driver, you can't even attach to a trailer without letting them know what trailer number you have. Many times there's issues with the trailer and they will say "you're not good to roll, call roadside and see what's going on" that can go for anything including tags and registration. So it doesn't make sense because this trailer would've been flagged an issue.
